Cut You A-Loose by Ricky Allen Guitar Lesson by Johnny Burgin

Cut You A-Loose by Ricky Allen hit #20 on the Billboard R&B hit, and was very popular in Chicago. Ricky Allen to me could have been the next Junior Parker in terms of his great material and the charisma of his voice. This tune was a go-to for Otis Rush who has many great recorded versions, it was cut by Omar Coleman and I even did a version on my first CD "Straight Out of Chicago", sung by Robert Plunkett. Anybody who saw practically any blues band in the 60s-80s has probably heard this song several times! The other night I played with Monster Mike Welch at a show in Hood River OR and we did this tune-- he lit it up! It was a highlight of this tour.
