I awaited the release of this movie with great anticipation...to see it with my friend Jane. It came out...but Jane had passed away just a couple of weeks earlier. I saw the breathtaking story and Meryl Streep's brilliant acting....and I still weep for both.
I cannot begin to tell you how much your comment means. On this, the 36th year of my friend’s death…. I now know more than ever…she is still with me through “Karen’s tale….♥️🌹
I wish that someone could have responded to Finch-Hatton's comment about there being no poems about the foot by quoting Goethe's observation that the one beauty that time cannot take from a woman is her foot. Admittedly not a poem, but an.utterance by one of the world's great poets.
@@IndomitableT of course. I like how the easy familiarity between Karen and Berkeley contrasts with the formality between her and Denys-as if both realize it might be risky to get too close.

So I watched this movie for the first time last Friday. I've been hearing the soundtrack since I was a baby growing up in Greeley, Colorado. My mother went to see this film in 1985. Oh, and I don't know if any of you noticed this. But on the Amazon prime version of this movie, the music has a little bit of an echo to it. Maybe it's just because I do on video editing that I picked this stuff up. Regardless of the echo, out of Africa is a good movie. It breaks my heart to see how much standards have fallen
storytelling a dying Art. Long ago my husband and I when we had guests. We all told a story round the Dining Room table. Some wonderful nights with wonderful company lo though many moons ago
I can just imagine all the great wonderful stories that women wrote but couldn't publish because they were women freaking sad.. history still untold about Women big Secret
This is my favorite part of the movie. The listeners completely entralled in the impromptu storytelling done by Karen.

I am still moved by this so many years later.
You have a dear heart, drmgb. This movie has moved me for years and continues to be my absolute favorite.
Just watched this movie. What a masterpiece!
my most favourite part of the whole film
A storyteller's ultimate goal. Thank you for sharing!

Her voice is beautiful
Fantastic movie and it takes a smart person to tell srory like Streep does.I am going to get the book to read the authors account on many things.
Wish this scene would go on -- I wanted to hear the whole story.
Finch Hatton has fallen for her before even the story finishes......completely romantic.
Does that not go both ways?🤔

Serious tragedy. Storytelling should never get lost
How lovely
I wish I could tell a story like this. Captivating.
Fantastic film!

This cut right before the best scene in the movie.
The real Karen Blixen had beautiful eyes. Treatments with mercury and salvarson took a toll on her appearance, but her beauty remained up to the end.
