    Correction I meant E Lydian not Phrygian on Safri Duo
    (Not that it matters)
    Also it's really Jamie Principle that should be credited with Your Love, though the Frankie Knuckles release popularised it, it is more of an edit/ new production. All of the musical elements including the arp are Mr Principles my bad for missing that

      I can argue why this is important: many people enjoy the sound of certain types of modes, for example, the Dorian mode. The very concept of modes is created to convey a specific type of feeling and mood. Additionally, for some genres of music, certain modes are used more frequently; for instance, the Phrygian mode in Slap House. By understanding the concept of modes, they can be combined in different parts of a track while using the same set of notes. This allows for a more thoughtful and interesting composition.

    • @Bthelick
      @Bthelick  Месяц назад +1

      Yes the mode / scale Is definitely important, most of my videos are about exactly that.
      I mean the semantics aren't important.

    • @djrandalldean
      @djrandalldean Месяц назад

      Hi! At least it only took me a couple mins to check the. comments. LOL! You taught me what phrygian mode was and E was the first one I tried (for obvious reasons) so when you said it had an F# I was wracking my brain trying to figure out if you were borrowing a chord from the relative major, and if so, why the II chord (of E phrygian).

    I would love to see a video or a little mini series of videos in which you talk about some of the fundamental principles of approaching music.
    Like for context, I like how you break down the purpose of instruments in any given song (like in this video you mentioned Arps act as a way to affect the tension).
    Because as a beginner to music production, it’s helpful to know what I should be trying to do and ask myself at any given part of the song. And I really like your framework for how to do so.

    • @Bthelick

      There isn't really just one pack I could recommend sorry. Most sample packs only have a handful of good samples in there and and 80% of them probably go unused.
      Also it's heavily genre dependent.

    Another great video, simple but very informative, thank you. Do you think you might be able to do a video on how to write chords from a bassline? • @Bthelick
      @Bthelick  Месяц назад

      @SoundSignals the difference is huge, if I'm making a video on it I cannot guarantee most of my audience have good relative pitch, or the technology to figure out the bass notes of an audio sample in order to chord it.
      If it's in midi form then it's trivial.
      2nd question is do you know what scale you've written the bass line in?
