FINALLY! A real comparison video between a 2 stroke and a 4 stroke Stihl. And without a time lapse or stupid music playing over it. I want to hear the machine work. Thank you!
The 91 is not like a conventional 4 stroke, it runs fuel like a 2 stroke but has no crankcase oil like a conventional 4!stroke. Stihl puts it, a 4 mix.
@@Lakecenterlawncare it’s a 4 stroke that runs on mix fuel that’s why it’s called a 4 mix. Learn the difference between 2 stroke and 4 stroke combustion cycles and how they work.
I own a fs94 and use a fs91 often. The 91 has more power but has less throttle control, it's really either on or off. The 94 is a pleasure to use. More user friendly and also, much lighter.
Not bad. I have a stihl FS-250R named the shredder for the tall and thick stuff. Anything that is regularly maintained I have a KM-94R and a Husqvarna 525L. All three trimmers run flawlessly and powerfully. When I need backup my team mate has a FS-91R. The combination of the FS-250R and the FS-91R are an unstoppable force that thick grass is terrified of.
I got a stihl fs 94r in august of 2023 and still works very good, ive been planning on getting the 91r before i got a 94r, reason why beacuse it was a little more lighter and stuff...
I carry a fs90r and fs94r on my van and swap between them as you say between lenght of material. I do like the 90's power but not weight, that's where the 94 comes in😉
Totally agree. I actually have a fs90 as well but it is an older unit that I’m using as my dedicated edger. That unit is over 10 years old and still running like a champ!
Wow that 94 is got some power to but alot of people was complaining about it not lasting, like the starter paws breaking fast and hard starting after a couple weeks of use.
@@douglaslawncare2843 The issues you had is because of Ethanol pump fuel, next time fill your can and tanks on anything you have with a metal carburetor and you WILL see a difference.
Isn't it a waste of time ? We, here in Sri lanka use only blades with smaller engines for cutting even taller grass. I personally use Maruyama 26cc with a blade and the cutting speed is almost twice and with much better cut quality. I love to use a Stihl one day and see, they are very rare here. Than you for the very interesting video !
Depends on whether or not you use a harness though. We have a 94 and a 110 (both with the bike handles for extra control and comfort) and we have the full shoulder harness to go with it. Makes strimming an absolute breeze with better weight balance and reduction. I typically go with the 94. However whatever machine you go for with Stihl you are certainly guaranteed a quality piece of kit! 👍
@@douglaslawncare2843 it’s the first model of the commercial line it’s more similar to the 94r as it’s a 2 cycle I might end up going with the fs94r because it seems like a better built fs70r despite being 3cc smaller the 91r probably has more power than I need 70% of the time my needs are kind of odd because I live in a more residential area but have a half acre with a stream and a ditch as well as a 10 acre property that has probably an acre clearing plus a trail so I have some pretty thick stuff I half to go through sometimes but most of what I do is just cleaning up near the house and around the pool and flower beds and I saw a comment from stihl saying the fs91r can bog on light trimming because the engine is meant for higher loads
You got it! The 94 doesn’t weigh as much and it’s definitely noticeable when you’re caring it around all day long. The throttle is easy to regulate as well.
I’ve been using the Stihl cf3 pro trimmer line. I just bought some echo black diamond line to compare. I also like the Oregon platinum gator line super twist. The blue kind.
The 94r is better. It’s not a whole lot of different though. The only time I really feel the vibration afterwards is when I am using it for longer that 15 minutes.

Starts great. I have had some carb issues with it though.
Michael Douglas that was another complaint as well and one guy said he took it back to the dealer twice when it was still new

94r and a 240r, ultimate combo

Great video! I run the 91R coming off an ECHO and it blows the doors off it.

THAT MACHINE IS A BEAST!!!
I felt the 91 R in my local dealer it did not feel heavy to me. But I guess its cause I am use to the old Stihl 110 R we have at work.
It’s not that heavy. It is heavy though compared to the 94r. Both are great machines. Thanks for watching!

Do you have experience with the fs70r? Trying to decide between that and the fs91r

The 70r is junk
Looks like the 91 definitely has much more power, but for trimming, the 94 would be better

The 91r with the handle bars.all around trimmer
What about the weight? We're only talking about .07 hp difference.
You definitely notice a difference! The 94r is allot more balanced as well.
I think still is powerful enough
Fantastic content 👌 👏 👍
Can I have the Stihl FS 90r

I'll run the Fs 91 R all day
I'm actually getting a weed whacker that is high grade professional and it might be the 94r or the 91r
Nice! Both are good choices
