Absolutely golden era for women's tennis with packed stadium in iconic MSG. Graf was truly phenomenon, easily the GOAT athlete to play WTA. But sadly now WTA finals played infront of empty crowds whether in Mexico, Texas or in Saudi Arabia.
Early xmas for me. Thanks jtc2 😊 9:42 🤯 🏆 12:22 🔥🥇 At the end she celebrates more than she celebrated many of her slam match points 🤷♂️ I think that’s cause she knew how high the level was 🤷♂️
How fortunate to be Steffi Graf: Fast legs and pretty legs at the same time, kudos! Interesting, that she held 2 balls in her left hand when(ever) to serve. Supposedly, Heinz Günthardt, replacing Pavel Slozil as Graf's coach in 1991, made SG stop (doing) that🎾
Steffi was in dynamite form at this tournament. She looked terrible at the Australian Open though shortly after this. She looked much better in Tokyo the following week however. But then she broke her thumb and the rest of the season was below par for the most part. But she did enjoy a fairly good indoor court season towards the end of year.
Who do you think had the better slice backhand between Steffi and Jana? I think Steffi hit hers slightly flatter at times, particularly later in her career. Almost a bit like Jimmy Connors used to hit his backhand sometimes.
@@zeddeka Both had stunningly good slice backhands. But I might give a slight edge to Graf's. Graf's slice backhand had better pace on it. It was unusual in a way because it stayed super low and it could also push opponents back. Novotna's slice backhand is a more traditional slice backhand in that it also stayed super low but it had less block on it. It forced opponents to move forwards as opposed to backwards. But like I said, both were stunningly good slice backhands with a ton of heavy underspin.
This match is 35 years old and the all court tennis on display is incredible, doesn't get any better, the golden age
what a match! Great skills from both

I would like to watch the first match Monica Seles played in this tournament against Conchita Martínez. Any possibility? Thanks ❤.
I'll try.
Great point at 9.42
Yes, that's a great one. I also liked the ones at 12:23 and 13:01
