From my experience if one tire blows it is only a matter of time before you loose another one. It is always good practice to replace all of your tires at the same time. It sure is lousy to get a flat tire on the road, it has happened to me but I had a lot more damage than you did. Safe travels and thank you for sharing.
As far as damage - I think we were extremely lucky that the tire ripped apart but didn't blow. All damage was super minor since it was "just" the speed and centrifugal force behind the flying rubber without any added rapid unscheduled depressurization to add to the velocity. 😄 I've always followed that rule of thumb about changing all 4 tires until last year. We had replaced all 4 but then had a flat pretty early on in the tires life - and then another... and they were not budget grade tires. All the tires currently on the trailer have a lot of tread life on them so I literally feel like I'm flushing money down the drain if I replace them all now. I think I know what caused this tire to go and I'm working on solving that problem so it doesn't happen again. Stay tuned! -J
Those Northern lights look amazing! Hopefully you will get to see them again in Alaska next summer, too! Northern lights are definitely on my bucket list too.
Thanks for the tips!! We just found your channel and excited to catch up!! We are fulltime Rvers also and are starting to look into work amping jobs!! Thanks for all the tips!! Have fun in Alaska!!
A tip for backing! Use your cell phones (if you have a signal. Before backing walk to site together to understand where you want the rig and why. Take your time. Remember GOAL (get out and look!)
It was! We had been looking for them all summer! I may or may not have had an app on my phone that I was constantly checking every night to see if the conditions were right. 😂 -J
I am with Joe. A quick trip to pull starlink off the roof would be what I’d do. I saw the northern lights once when I was a kid in NE MO. it was not big and dramatic but was still beautiful.
Oh my goodness you passed right by our place, on your way to Cook Mn. Also not pronounced zup (up). It is pronounced liked soup with a z. Its the owners last name
When I back in to a tight site my wife walks to the back and looks then walks back up to the truck and stands on the front side of the mirror on her side and talks to me or walks in front of the truck to my side and looks and walks back to her side so when I am looking in the mirror I can ask her questions as I back in if needed if people try to direct each other in from the back you can't see them or hear them very well
That's a good system! Usually we are quite a bit smoother because we use our phones to communicate. But in this instance our phones are also our cameras...... so....shouting it was. 😂 -J
We don't have an official "Store front" full of recommended products yet so that link is just an affiliate link to amazon. So if you use that link before you do your amazon shopping, it gives us a small commission on your purchase just for being the ones that sent you to Amazon. So as long as the link took you to Amazon, it's working! 🙂 -J
Well, I could have gotten them mounted at Walmart...on Monday. I bought the tires Friday night. And I'm sure TSC had gloves, I didn't look because at that moment in time I hadn't decided I was doing 3 more errands. But I'm gonna be honest...the glove selection at that other store was phenomenal so I'm kinda glad I went there instead. -J
I don’t know where she was exactly at this point. We didn’t meet her until we got to our gate job in Texas more than a month or so after this. If you’re ever curious as to the order of our videos you can go to this page: youtube.com/@openroading?feature=shared Select the “videos” tab (if it isn’t already) and then make sure “latest” is selected. Then it will show all our thumbnails from newest to oldest! -J

Pronouncing grocery store chains incorrectly seems to be our MO. Just ask the fine people of Texas. -J
new subscriber here. Looks like a very adventurous and FUN travel. Greetings from Newfoundland, Canada.
Thanks so much for the sub! We so want to visit Newfoundland someday, although probably not by sneaking over in a boat. 😂 -J
Have you considered a couple of inexpensive walkie-talkies for those times when you are trying to give backing directions to each other?
We should. We usually use our phones....but our phones are also our cameras so this time we had to go with ye-old shouting method. 😂 -J

Always happy to have less drama in our travel days! 😀 -J
hey, i just wanted to let you guys know that this episode is missing from your "Journey to Alaska" playlist
Thanks for the heads up! I'll correct that. That video could use some views! Maybe this will help. 😁 -J
@@OpenRoading i'm glad to help
Awesome video! Love you guys!!
Thanks so much!! - K
You said Zup’s, but I heard “Zopp’s”. A little Johnson City flavor!
I must have missed Zopps in our 6 years in the area! -J
Hello. So it might be on my end, but in case it isn’t - the Amazon link - should be your page, yes? I can’t get there. Thanks for sharing.

@@OpenRoading Oh! I didn’t realize that was available. Got it. Thank you.
Why in the world did you not get the tires mounted where you bought them (Walmart)? And Tractor Supply didn't have any work gloves?
Well, I could have gotten them mounted at Walmart...on Monday. I bought the tires Friday night.
