I use detailers solely for drying aids to cut down potential swirls. My favorite at the moment is DIY Detail Ceramic Gloss. Ridiculous slickness and a legitimate glow especially on darker paints but there is a lot of great one's Phoenix Titan, TW Ceramic Wet Wax, Lithium Ignite after wash, Lithium Color Crush, Xtreme Solutions Topper, Apex BC3, Apex Re-Hydra sheet.
Hard to justify any of those really. Use BH qd mixed 1 to 20 with di water. This qd also contains charged polymer to reduce scratches. But you can mix up a litre for like 50p. A Litre of the ones you list is like 20 quid or more.
I use Autoglym and or Meguires, its a minefield to me. There are so many products out there. I am about to order the BH product as the way you demonstrated it works really well for me. I look after 4 cars at home, so makes for easy and effective results. My kids think cars just stay clean FFS 😃😃😃 (my choice by the way)
I use Done and Dusted SI from Bouncer Wax. I like it, gives nice gloss and adds to the hydrophobic properties of the wax it is sitting on. I am aware that this channel has reviewed SI in a comparison and didn’t score the highest but as someone that cleans for fun and enjoys having a clean and shiny car I’m happy with it :)
for me, IW Rapid Detailer or AM Details QD+, all good as QD, but also good drying aids and used all over car (even bathroom). Love the slick & glossy finish, and tops up the LSP too.
GT QD or SIGMA are both amazing for ease of use/protection. Sigma I can testify, deepens the tornado red on my golf and even the missus comments on the beading
I have tons of bottles of Angelwax QED in the garage, in my first order (after watching your brand review) I ordered about 4 and they threw an extra one in free. Every order since I get one in free 😂 hence the stash! The first time I used it I hurled it on as you’d say, and noticed lots of streaking and smearing. I emailed and they just said to make sure I was using it as per the instructions which said to use it on a dry car. The newer bottles in the garage have subtly different instructions, I only spotted this recently, and it recommends applying to a wet car now… a light bulb came on when I spotted this and I tried it again - superb. So standard ops now is to wash the car then spray this on one area at a time and then dry with a drying towel. It gives a lovely oily slick feel to drying, and the gloss afterwards is lovely, the water repellency is lovely too, quite beady. Clearly no change in recipe since I’m still on with the early bottles having given up on it so soon, so I suspect it needs watering down really, or applying with water on the car, but it really is a standard thing now - love it, finally!
I don't often use a QD but I do have a few. My preferred one is Alien Magic Ceramic Detailer if I need to put some beadage back onto high traffic areas but I have also got their Graphene QD which is labelled their bead monster to try. I did use an SiO2 detailer on my cars interior previously and it was absolutely fantastic! such a silky satin finish on everything and it prevented finger prints on the touch screen for a while.
I’ve recently started using Feynlab Pure Rinseless for those light cleaning jobs where you don’t want to get all the gear out and finishing with Feynlab Touchless Ceramic, used like a QD/drying aid. At £72/L it seems very expensive but diluted at 10:1 it works great and you only need a small amount per panel.
I cannot finish a wash without some sort of QD as a LSP. Car would feel naked to me (rightly or wrongly) My go to is Meguiers Last Touch because the smell is just amazing and I love using it. Seems to do the job.
Currently using Infinity Wax Rapid Detailer, easy to use and leaves a really clean gloss finish. I have only ever used it as a after wash coat but really happy with it 👍🏻
Really liking Gyeon’s Ceramic Detailer over the top their Wet Coat. Looking something more permanent that Wet Coat but don’t have a garage to be able to do a proper ceramic coating.
My favorite is Sonax BSD dilluted it with water 2:1. It is hydrophobic and with good durability. My second favorite is Dodo Juice - Quick detailer. It works and like waterless wash. It gives a nice gloss to the car paint. You can use it in the car paint and interior to the plastics. Koch-Chemie QF is another QD i use. Easy to use it and with good price.
Ordered 2 bilt hamber 500ml a while ago and used one of them neat wanting full blown gloss but it was hard work. I completely forgot I had them so I've knocked them down as per your advice at 1:9 and it again today, what a difference !! Seems like a completely different product, thanks Jon
I have a few favourites but one that I rate and is rarely ever mentioned anywhere is Sansom Boosted. A doddle to use, very versatile and leaves decent protection that’s a great beader.
My go to is Wax Planet Allure ceramic detailer. No streaking if you go easy on the application and it lasts around 4 months. Can’t fault it. Visibly darkens the panel too on black paintwork.
I use Carbon Collective Rapide on my mum’s car as it has a 5 year Carbon Collective ceramic coating on it so thought it wise to stick to the same brand. Great product for all the areas you mentioned, plus smells great too
Love using 2 things: A drying aid like turtle wax ceramic wet wax cause its just quick to apply and leaves a slick to the touch finish. Meguirs ultimate spray wax - very pleasant to use cause its so easy to apply and leaves an amazing gloss 🤘😯
Thank you 🙏 I’ve had exactly the same experience, for years, with Demon Shine. So much so that until recently, I used a diluted mix as a post wash/pre towel dry. I’m certainly not a label snob and for visual effect/Wow factor, can’t praise DS enough. 👍👍
Never knew about the company until you done a review on Bouncers. I got their Done and Dusted SI02 one and fell in love with it. Unfortunately I got an email from them a few weeks ago to say they were going out of business so I grabbed 10ltrs of it so that’ll do me for a while. It’s a shame, great products for very cheap.
The original bouncers D&D (on your recommendation) it smells amazing and I just use it to gloss up the panels after washing I’m fairly sure it leaves some protection behind.
I very like Angelwax QED on a wet car as a supposed "drying aid" the car looks very reflective afterwards, subtle but noticeable. Also the Enigma QED once a month gives it some extra beading, but can be a bit smeary if you apply to much. Nowadays Angelwax have this Atomic QED which should have graphene in it but didn't try that one yet. Mitchel&King has his QD which is very slick and can go nearly on anything. In the summer time or when I have waterspots I use Koch Chemie FSE, applied on the proven "John Technique" (great vid btw John!!), waterspots gone and a shiny surface instead. There are so many, and in my opinion it has become the detailers wine or whiskey collection 😂
I’m probably doing it wrong or using the wrong product by after a full wash and dry I use a QD(Megs ultimate quick retailer) to deliver a hand buff which really transforms the finish. Probably due to living in a hard water area maybe but it’s a really essential to use it to get that proper shine (there’s a base lay of wax down anyway btw).
Hi John, good easy informative content. For my purposes I really like the Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic 3-in-1 Detailer. It checks all the boxes AND 👈🏼 here in the States it is $12-15 for a 32 oz. [946ml.] spray bottle. A Yankee bargain! Shine on you crazy diamond!
The first minute's story is exactly why I wouldn't get a true ceramic coating. I'm like you, I use BHQD. but I have another few, angelwax enigma qd for one. I actually watered it down slightly as well and it transforms the detail spray. It's beautiful to apply now with unreal gloss and lovely juicy beads 😁, which is perfect for the winter months.
I like BHQD, I still have some Autoglym QD left and that is good. Powermaxed QD brings up my carbon bike really well. I find some other QDs are nearer to sealants so are not quite as easy to work with and not the type of product I need as a QD.
Thank you for clarifying that the Jerry cans were from Lab Unlimited at 10:50 minutes into the video. Just another example of you attention to detail and helpfulness to your audience.
Hi Jon I use Lithium Color Crush , Turtle Wax Ice spray or Flex Wax Graphene or Phoenix EOD all as drying aids. There so many I’ve tried it becomes overwhelming: Adam’s Graphene detail spray, Meguairs Gold spray wax , TW Iced Seal and Shine. I’m pretty satisfied with all of them. No matter if they cause streaking I just knock it down with squirts of water👍
Using Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic Detailer, but a bit pricey at around £20. Really nice as a drying aid and decanted into an IK Sprayer improves misting and makes it go further. Great vid Jon and loving the stainless shelves ❤
I got my car coated in gyeon infinite but was talking to him about wax is dead he now got account with them and ordered two bottles of there ultimate to test. Later when I get stone chip done as need respray bonnet and front bumper I’m thinking to remove the gyeon and coat in wax is dead ultimate. I just got there wash kit too
i waxed my car to winter time. so i use Q.D top of it after every wash i do, it keeps the wax beter and protech the car paint more. we all dont like salt :D
Jon, interesting video. Can I ask, with the volume you are mixing out, 5 litres worth, 2 questions : 1, what are you mixing it with - Tap water or Distilled? and 2, how long would you say it will last before begins 'going off'? Is there a point where it'll lose its effectiveness. I have the same product, mixed out to 10:1, but I'm not getting through it. Cheers.
@@ForensicDetailing Cheers. I used tap water, as i was out of De-ironised water. I'll junk this bottle then, and make some new with distilled water. You say, 9:1 is best ratio. It's 5:1 too strong for a QD IYO?
Jon, There is a newer brand in the US called Phoenix EOD who makes a QD/sealant called Titan. This stuff is amazing! It is applied just like your demonstration providing incredible slickness and gloss. Titan is less about cleaning and more about protecting over most QD’s. If you can get your hands on a bottle in the UK, or reach out to the company to send you some, I highly recommend it. I found it addicting just after using my first 8oz bottle, so I went out an bought a gallon jug. It’s easy to use as a QD, but gives more lasting protection. I actually use it very sparingly as a QD for my final drying towel. Get some if you can!
I’ve used Autoglym Rapid Detailer but only for clay bar. I’m now guessing I should have used panel wipe or APC to prep for waxing instead of just wiping down using rapid detailer and a microfibre and then applying Fusso coat wax ??
Yes the detailer will leave material behind which won't help the fusso to bond. It's like painting a wall you need to clean it down first before painting
Thanks John (is it John or Jon). From now on I will use panel wipe or something of that ilk. I will try again in spring using my new buffer for the first time 😮. Thanks for all your ongoing efforts creating content, I’m learning lots 😃👍😃
There is no one single definition of a quick detailer….it can mean a whole heap of things that overlap and generally causes confusion. The best guide is YOU and your common sense. I use Gyeon’s Ceramic Detailer as it compliments the EVO coating 👌
So you're not a fan of drying aids to reduce the risk of towel scratches? I've heard European cars have harder paint, so perhaps you're less bothered by it. Seems like a good idea on softer paints, especially if not coated with ceramic.
An overlooked concept these days! Most people get confused with them and spray sealants, where for me, a QD has to have the ability to clean, so is lubricated and thus can be a clay lube. Beyond that, any protection should be pretty light and not interfere with the base protection so that you should always know when that starts to fail. I also like BH Auto QD diluted down to 1:10, very pleasing. Diluted rinseless washes (with or without protection) are useful QD’s particularly as clay lubes, cleaners and drying aids. Of course, Koch Chemie Fse is also a staple for its cleaning abilities and very light protection that can rejuvenate clogged coatings.
Carpro ech2o, excellent product and great value for money (dilution is 1:25). Koch chemie QS is also great. If you want a detailer with protection I would go with Sonax ultra slick detailer, carpro elixir or gyeon ceramic detailer.
Have you tried the Solo 46001 460 Li Battery Pressure Sprayer that might be worth a look at as it would save your hand Squeezing the sprayer trigger on the iK sprayer plus the head can be used on most bottles if you didn’t like the bottle on the solo sprayer 😁👍 take a look at one 👍
you could use it to remove light dust. some QD's contain waterless wash tech. so you could clean a car panel with it if your carefull. But its a detailing faux pas really so I would recomend you wash the car before cleaning with detailer m8
I use AF finale most times. Does help maintain the beads and adds a bit of gloss, only fault with it is that it's not concentrate. Also use pure definition ceramic detailer, decent product and lasts a few months before it starts to fail and its very cheap
P&S Dream Maker, is it a quick detailer? I'm a bit confused by it, it leaves no protection but is a gloss enhancer? Could I use this to help dry my car and go straight to the polishing stage? I see some demos the rag company do with Bead Maker, they clay the car with bead maker and go straight to drying. Could I use DREAM Maker and go straight to polishing?
I love dream maker as well but would not use anything with gloss enhancers or waxes prior to a polish. You want as clean of a surface as possible. I even avoid car washes with the word brilliant or gloss which normally serves a good purpose but it costs the car with the gloss enhancers. Yes I would consider dream maker to be an LSP/QD.
Does anyone know if you can use onr as panel prep after a polish pre coating ? I hate paying for panel prep usually just use fairy liquid and re dry agsin 😆
I was using CarPro Elixir on the freshly restored and ceramic coated paintwork of my Mk5 R32, at £25 per litre... ...but then I read what Elixir is made up of, went a bit bonkers and bought Reload, Ech2o, and Hydro2 all in 4 litres of concentrate and 20 litres of distilled water, which cost me an arm and a leg (and then some), used 40ml of each product in a litre sprayer topped with the distilled water...and now my homemade Elixir costs me £6.49 per litre. Not bad eh!! Only thing is, it cost me £574 for all the products and water in bulk!! Bonkers!!! But just look at the savings for my lifetime supply of QD!!!! (I also use the same formula at 7ml per product topped with water as a drying aid. Couldn't be happier...just can't eat this week!! Hoorah!!)
Y'all should really research the waterless b*******... This product is generally for garage kept, barely driven show cars that do not accumulate excessive or even moderate Road grime.
Sonax BSD in winter and fall, Gyeon Quick Detailer in summer and spring. The Gyeon QD delivers on extra gloss even on light colored cars.
I use detailers solely for drying aids to cut down potential swirls. My favorite at the moment is DIY Detail Ceramic Gloss. Koch Chemie FSE for me… just easy to use and great in the summer. Reasonable as well price wise.
ONR as a spot cleaner, light interior cleaner, glass cleaner, drying aid, water softener.
It's economical, smells great, and super concentrated.
Wolfgang sio2 rinseless. 3oz to a gallon makes a terrific detailer. Slick as snot and great gloss.✨

Have you tried the Solo 46001 460 Li Battery Pressure Sprayer that might be worth a look at as it would save your hand Squeezing the sprayer trigger on the iK sprayer plus the head can be used on most bottles if you didn’t like the bottle on the solo sprayer 😁👍 take a look at one 👍
but pricey but is cool
Yeah about £35 unfortunately but they are ideal just a shame on price
Can you review the wax is dead detailing range
Eh up Jon. 👍🏼. Just listened to the podcast with Paul Dolan. Excellent. 😂👍🏼
QD’s! I always want the ‘best one’ 🙄🙄🤣👍🏼
You can’t use a quick detailer after it’s been driven for a few days can you ?
you could use it to remove light dust. some QD's contain waterless wash tech. so you could clean a car panel with it if your carefull.
1 part bsd 1 part megs hcd 3 parts water. 👍🏻
A bottle of Jack Daniels is perfect for everything I do......!
Does anyone know if you can use onr as panel prep after a polish pre coating ? I hate paying for panel prep usually just use fairy liquid and re dry agsin 😆
no you cant m8 its not a good degreaser
Does nobody use carchem QD? I do but no one else seems to use it ☺️
Interesting, I was thinking about buying some , your obviously impressed?
All that buffing has made your hair go static Jon!! 😀
Ken Dodd 😁😁😁
@@ForensicDetailing 😂
Can you use bhqd on interiors??
Yes
Hoorah!!)
Do what I do.....eat grass haha
Found the wow player
.. apart from the kit

Dang, wolverine?😄😄😄
You need some ginger tea mate!
Y'all should really research the waterless b*******... This product is generally for garage kept, barely driven show cars that do not accumulate excessive or even moderate Road grime.
Not if u don't want it to be
