  • Here is my in-box of the newest Tiger from Rye Field Model. It seems like there some accuracy issues here, but things that can be either left off or modified. There should only be one light on the left side not both sides, and the wingnut screws for the deep wading cover on the bow MG shouldn't be there.
    Check out David Byrden's list of known issues with this kit over at Tiger1.info

    Adam great review. now this kit is a must have, great parts many extras, they just keep pumping out great kits. I feel they are just Wrecking Dragon, giving you just like dragon at the beginning, a ton of stuff. the tracks alone are awesome. as long as the guys from Rye Field don't get greedy, like "Dragon" and keep there kits as they are, they'll be the new king of Tiger kits.

    Thanks for the great review. It looks like they are getting better with each release, despite some of the small issues.

    Tigers in the mud - p254-255 mentions the inefficiency of the 18ton FAMOs and request a towing vehicle that has the Tiger chassis. That’s why I’m looking for the kit...

    Hi Adam, thanks for the review. It's a very unusual Tiger and since not much is known about it, I will have some fun and build it with the 88mm main gun mounted and the crane in a "modified" raised position:)

      @daveybyrden3936 8 лет назад +1

      Well, we're pretty sure that the gun was removed when the crane was added. The unit diary does say that a "damaged Tiger" was converted, and we can see evidence of multiple hits on the turret and a fire.

    Nice kit for sure. Thanks for the look Adam. I think I will wait for the Dragon one w/zim.

      Given that the real vehicle had lost most of the Zim from its turret before it got the crane, that might be a mistake.

      Ok? Thanks for the heads up Dave but it won't really matter that much to me.

    That Tiger looks very good, if dragon make one will have to get it. Paint thinning tip, if it is a Tamiya pot just fill to the brim with thinners and it'll last

    Where is the cable guide pole on the top of the turret in the kit? The cable slips down the wheel at the front of the crane here, if it isn't in the center of the winch.

    Hi Adam great job on the reviews. For the more casual builder ie not research crazy they are full of good stuff so thanks. On the Tiger i believe David said it had S-mines on initial conversion but may have been removed. Do you know what Dragon Tigers have S-mines included in them? Understand Griffin do some but I might have some without knowing in my collection from Dragon.Thanks again for the reviews..

      Thanks very much Darren. 6730 would have S-mines, and since 6820 is the same kit with an added sprue it would as well. If you're looking to make a late early with S-mines either will do. Just be mindful that 6730 is set up to be a befehls, so you'd need to use a different hull rear plate, but the parts are in there.

    Hi Adam hope you are well. I need your Tiger expertise and I wondered if you could help! I'm building the Dragon, Tiger 1 the 131 and I'm looking to buy some Friulmodel tracks for it. Do you know what the Mirror Tracks are (ATL-116 TIGER I initial type (mirror tracks) I have a set of early tracks but I don't have a clue what these are and I can't find any info on them.

    • @AdamMann3D
      @AdamMann3D  6 лет назад

      You don't need mirror tracks for 131. The mirror tracks were used on the prototype and first few Tigers sent to Leningrad. You just want the standard early tracks.ATL-25.

    Does anyone know whether they cocked up their logo on purpose? I mean, Rye Field Model should be RFM.... not RMF...WTF? Still I like the look of their kits.

    • @duanebarkakoti3999
      @duanebarkakoti3999 6 лет назад

      Purely for marketing purposes. The logo has the R & F interconnecting with the M. You couldn't do that phonetically

    My question is why. . .
    The my have yet to release one standard tiger (except for the DAK and the full interior mid?).
    Why not consolidate the many parts they have and create an initial, early, mid and late rather than these obscure models? Just frustrating cause I want a nice early tiger and I know they have the parts, I just wish they would box em up and make a standard tiger.
    Sorry rant over, great video Adam, thanks for sharing.

      I completely agree. My first step would have been to do exactly that to take Dragon's market share. Then maybe hit things like this.

    • @daveybyrden3936

      The "DAK" Tiger (it wasn't actually in the Afrikakorps) is not really standard, as there were only 20 like it. The "503" Tiger is one of nine. So, Rye Field are obviously choosing unusual and special Tiger versions as their policy.
      Given the new-tooled parts in this kit, which are NOT needed, they must be planning a "Mid" Tiger and/or a "Mid Command" Tiger.

      David Byrden
      I think they designed their sprues in such a way to cover all Tigers right away and they're just releasing kits in a strange way. You can tell by the extensive lettering system that there is something like that going on. At some point I assume they'll just go to standard Tiger kits. I can tell you though as I built up that turret yesterday the parts for the cupola were a bit rough.
