- From Idris Elba, whose grandfather fought in WW2, this landmark series reveals the untold stories of soldiers of color in the war. By mixing war sequences with character portraits, this series restores the role of these soldiers and their units to their rightful place in the narrative of WW2 and reveals how these heroes inspired Civil Rights Movements in America and across the world.

Will war heroes like Daniel Inouye and/or the Japanese-Americans of the 442nd get their own episode? How about the Native Americans serving in the Pacific who prevented the enemy from being able to use US radio communication against our own troops? And what about the Africans serving in the French military or the Asians serving in the Soviet Red Army?
As an Australian i ❤ the “Wind talkers” without them the world as we know it wouldnt be the same
We're all people of colour. Every single person on earth. And just because those colours are different across the globe doesn't mean we should see specific colours as superior or inferior. Nor treat them better or worse than others. Because skin colour is just that. Merely the colour of one's skin. Skin deep and ultimately inconsequential to one's character.
welcome to wokeness

100% right my brother
Just because you deny something exists, it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
@@uchenna127 who TF is denying whatsoever ? Another one
My great grandfather was in the Maori battalion, he fought like the warrior he was. Kia Kaha, tu tei tei. Be strong, stand tall.
My people discovered Hawaii.
You can say "aloha" is a Portuguese word, so, yeah.
This was a great project to be involved in. D-Day was filmed on the beach at Great Yarmouth and the sight of young men rushing from a Landing Craft and storming onto the beach under fire was somewhat chilling. Don't miss it.
guess the hero ; who is treated as a villain ?
They are literally one of the most famous air force groups there is. Right alongside The Mighty Eight (eighth air force). So hardly erased.
No they are not. You must live in an alternate reality. No one knows who those airmen are. Just because they made a small movie about them, doesn't mean they are now well known.
@@uchenna127 really??? what rock do you live under??? the fuzzy wuzzy angels are FORGOTTEN by most!!!!
But some of us remember the stories of these ANGELS saving wounded Australians and carrying them for kilometres back to medics
@@Golden-dog88 You remember? How old are you?
@@uchenna127 can u read???? it CLEARLY SAYS I REMEMBER HEARING STORIES!!!!!
you MUST be american to completly miss-comprehend what i wrote
@@Golden-dog88 The question still stands, at what age did you hear these fantastical stories?
Not erased. The Tuskegee airmen are maybe the most well-known WWII soldiers partly because of their race. WWII stories historically have highlighted heroism and achievement regardless of race.
Exaxtly. They are literally one of the most famous air force groups there is. Right alongside The Mighty Eight (eighth air force). So hardly erased.
I learned about them among others in school as well. Seems like sensationalism for them to say erased.
good you know about the Tuskegee airmen but how many other troops can you name?
What about the “Fuzzy wuzzy angels” nick name given by the Australian soldiers they saved fighting along the Kokada track from Papau New Guinea,
or the native American “windtalkers” without whom the world as we know it would be completely different….
Youve CLEARLY FORGOTTEN THEM
@@Golden-dog88 Yes learned about the Navajo, not the Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels. But many groups contributed to WWII and we learned about many other groups as well.
@@jjc81988 That's because you don't live in Oz. Why would they teach Americans about Aussie troops? In Australia it's taught at school. This guy is just fulfilling some sick victim fantasy.
So why were they left out?

congrats
Are you serious?
@@RichHandsome hey guys, take a look at his avatar LMAO
what a nerve
I think is going to be very interesting...
Гордиться войной, любой, в любом отрезке времени это самое ужасное что могло придумать человечество.
We are all just people. Seems to me that everyone was getting on just fine until about 10 years ago when the internet and the media created so much division!?🤷🏼♂️
Obama had a chance to unite. He chose to divide.
And Donald Trump
You are really a funny guy 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
wow your clearly blind to history
So excited to see homage paid to those that seem to be for gotten who gave all for so many. A proud African American Veteran that had the chance to study our hand in this nation ready to tune in and watch.
This is an important film
Well this is narrated by knuckles himself right?
Me gusta mucho National Geografic, lastima que no tiene traducciones, ni subtitulos, es una pena.

cool
thank you
And to think heroes come in ALL colors. Shame on you, NG for trying to be divisive.

How do you meab?
I will never understand why it's not simply the human race. In my 54 yrs of experience, the color of a humans skin made no difference if they were a good or bad person.
Yet they tried to deny people of colour existed during war and in history. And treated them very badly all these years, to the point of human slaves.
Yes!!!
I wish this was on Netflix or the Roku channel

Here we go…
Unfortunately America can only accept the image of John Wayne and Randolph Scott when he came to their war heros.
Wrong.
They are literally one of the most famous air force groups there is. Right alongside The Mighty Eight (eighth air force). Some people just want to be victims so bad they refuse to let facts get in the way of a good story.

Oh ffs
Just checking ✔️
Calling them "people of color" isn't exactly polite.
@@andyfriederichsen idk lol
LOL
Race grift. A hero is known for what they do and not what color their skin is.
Skincolour does not matter... no need to pull a serie because of the colour of someones skin.
So I guess you will be watching to figure out why this doc was made? I know there will be some great news for us.
0:44 Yes skin color does matter due to being invisible living in amerikkka
It's history not something they invented for tv
