- Inlet Square Mall in the MB region has faced a number of hardships and unfortunate circumstances that have ultimately killed it in the long run, leading to its closure in 2024. Join me for one last walk around the mall.

From 1995-2005 I would go on vacation in Surfside Beach. I would visit the mall each summer. I remember shopping at the K-mart and Books A Million. In summer of 1995 the mall was packed with people, like crazy busy. I remember being surprised by some vacancies in the mall the last time I visited in 2005, but it is even more crazy to see it completely dead when you visited. Thanks for one last walk through the mall.
My father in law owns a condo in Myrtle Beach. We started staying there for vacations 2005 on. It’s sad that it’s now closed. I now live near Charleston, SC. I drove past this mall last month to go to the airport and I saw it was closed. I’m surprised with how many tourists visit Myrtle Beach the mall couldn’t survive. A mall is a good place to go when it’s raining or something different to do. There’s a mall by me that’s dead called The Citadel Mall. Only things keeping it going are Target and a huge medical pavilion.
The worst thing is when a specific area has lots of tourists and a mall and it still is unable to survive. Sad. SMH.
Coastal grand opened, tourists preferred that mall.Than the outlet malls as well
This mall opened the day right before I was born. Also, you barely see a glimpse of it, but that Ally's Art House shop was owned by my mom.
Couldn't appreciate it in the video, but the pictures at the end, with the sun coming though the skylights, give it a cozy and warm atmosphere to the place. That and the fact there is no people in the pictures, makes me feel "at home" for some weird reason.
I've been to this mall a few times, I live in South Carolina, and it's sad to see malls close , but I truly believe that malls will become a thing of the past.
Thanks for posting this video. I remember the mid 90's Radio Shack, K B Toys and a full food court with Spinnakers Restaurant. Steve and Barry's in the later years. I just hope they don't throw Bubba the bear in the dumpster.
I saw Twister and Independence Day at the movie theater there back in the day.
this shit make me want to cry feels like iam at a funeral
I was thinking the same thing.
Another great production!
When a mall closes I wonder if they sell the benches? It would be kind of fun to buy a mall bench for your home.
A lot of malls do auction remaining items inside the building after they close the interior hallways for the last time, yes. Lincoln Mall in Matteson, IL did this, and same with Pembroke Mall in Virginia Beach.
If it wasn't for bad management and owners I think this mall could've somewhat thrive to this day
I bet competition from places like Broadway at the Beach or Barefoot Landing didn't help the mall either since it combines food, shopping, and entertainment.
It's very sad. When I came here on vacation (98-2005), I've went to inlet square mall three times a week. After I moved here (2007), I went there almost everyday just to see a movie. After the decline of stores, I stopped going there.
This is a very nice mall inside and out. A little too plain but still pretty. I like the dark purple colour surrounding that skylight at 11:33. This was sad to watch. R.I.P. Inlet Square Mall.🙁😢
The inside of this mall is still accessible for mall walking. Doors are open and the public can enter.
Oh, ok nice.😊
If its Friday! It must be Doome! Love your content compared to some others that spend half their time on self promotion!!
I went to the Frank's Bowling Alley on a Monday Night in January 2016, and it was packed!!! I think I snagged the last available lane! This mall really could have been successful!!!! Broadway at the Beach didn't open until 1995, five years after the Inlet Square Mall. I bet if Inlet Square Mall could have gotten a unique anchor such as an Indoor Mini Golf place or a museum it would be thriving today. If your ever in the area and are into Southern BBQ Mom n Pop Buffet places, I highly recommend Back Home BBQ. It's just a mile south of Inlet Square Mall on Business 17.
I remember it from sometime in the early 90’s. It just always seemed like it wasn’t going to make it. After a while, i just stuck to Books a Million and didn’t even venture out to the food court.
Broadway had little affect on this mall.Coastal grand hurt it more.
1st. Looks like it was pretty much shut down when you were there. Belk is the only thing open?
As of today the inside of the mall is still accessible for mall walkers. All inline tenants are closed. Belk and Planet Fitness are still open
If a membership is required to use their facility, I wouldn't classify Planet Fitness as an anchor.
It’s still open for walkibg
Cute
