Love your your video. ? Why don't I ever see any info on the Hero 7 white. Can you let me know the best setting's for RUclips content. I know it has it's purks. But can you help me out? With the best setting's.
I've tried filming with your recommended GoPro settings while cycling using either a handlebar mount or chest mount . I found I wasn't able to bring the detailed back, mainly the texture and sharpness of the video. I also found that fixed shutter speed really caused issues when light conditions varried. I ended up turning the sharpness back to high, but still running the following settings ... Partial cloudy day cycling thru tree covered sections , res 2.7k 30fps , shutter auto. iso 100-800 WB4000K high bit rate enabled using go pro colour superwide stability ON ... In post I made re adjustments to the WB to find what was natural , then I'll prob add some vibrance and possibly a slight over saturation to embellish the beauty greenery here on Vancouver island .... I WISH I could figure out why the fixed shutter rate just looked so washed out ??
I know that the video is on Hero 8 but I have a question to ask about the Hero 7 Black. My Problem is the audio sync is off on the camera playback when transferred to computer. It seems to be alright when playback in camera itself.
Not yet, but I'm for sure going to check it out. I've heard their desktop app mentioned a few times now. Here's how I edit my footage ruclips.net/video/dlgeg4bkGCw/видео.html
David, what settings would you suggest to tape indoor volleyball with GP 7 Blk no color editing? I currently (had been) shooting 1080/60fps in auto however while not terrible by any means it just wasn’t a clean look. Thank you enjoy your videos.
If you're indoors in a gym, there's a few things you can do. One is switch to manual white balance. By setting your white balance manually, you'll keep from having the color shift during shots. The second is to set you ISO to MAX of 800 and if you're at 60fps, your shutter to 120th. If the image is too dark, switch to 30fps and 1/60th shutter. Hope that helps!
Quick question,,,,,,on the front display does your gopro 8 look like it has an oily screen? Mine has since I bought it. Doesn't effecting it in any way so it's fine. But was just curious. Thanks.

I’m going to be using my hero8 under water in mostly greenish water. What should I use for settings? And why is so crd always having errors? I’ve lost 2 dive videos because of sd card errors. 2 different cards both have already been formatted.
I'm not sure about the formatting issue with the SD cards, but that's super concerning! Hey man, nice video. Would you recommend to use the protective cover, which is available for 50€ in the store, to ride motocross? Would be great if you could answer my question
Just got a GoPro Hero 8. Found your channel and checking out several of your videos. Working on making my first videos while here at home. Setting it up to capture a time lapse of us working from home with three kids and a cat. I'm using a trial of Final Cut Pro for the time lapse and the test looks good so far, but it seems like my battery ran down fast. I need to look at settings. I figured you could let it run for a whole day taking one frame of RAW every 15 second. Hope you are doing well with all the changes that are happening. And you don't need to go into the details of course, but I figured your ad revenue and views might go up with more people at home and spending more time on their computers. I work in IT for oil and gas, so I figure in three to six months things might get pretty bad for us with layoffs, but I know lots of people out there are hurting. Take Care.
That's awesome to hear Freddie! Yeah, the battery life on the GoPro has always been a sticking point for a lot of people. I'm not sure what it's rated to in Time-lapse mode, but in video mode, it's only about an hour. I can't imagine that in Time-lapse mode it would be a whole lot longer because even though you're only shooting one frame every 15 seconds, the camera is still on and in record mode. As for RUclips revenue, it's not something that's really sustainable until your numbers are in the hundreds of thousands. With about 30K subs making 1-2 videos per week, it's making about $450 per month from Adsense. So for sure not an income replacement anytime soon! Hahaha But it's fun, I really enjoy it, and maybe one day I'll get to the big leagues👍
Agreed. It harms all his videos. He needs to edit. Not only ramblings, but also repeats himself. There is good content, but he loses viewers because the videos are too long.
David Manning, we normally shoot our trusted A7IIIs, but have been getting gigs where we require higher FPS for certain scenes. When the light is sufficient enough we can utilize the 240FPS option on the gopros as long as we learn how to color match it with our graded sLog-2 footage. So your channel was perfect! THANK YOU!
Love hearing that man! It’s for sure a challenge to match the two together. I’ve actually found that the DJI Osmo Action color grades really well with Sony footage!
Does the screen protector and the battery/battery charger you linked to also work for the GoPro hero 8? The item names don’t say eight, and I’m not certain that they’re compatible.
I can’t believe the negative comments. I guess some people just do that. Always love your videos. I loved the intro. I’ve been a subscriber for months and the intro was like catching up with a friend I haven’t seen in a few days. The quality of the video images are crazy good. Would love to see a Premiere Pro editing video. BTW... I used to do all 7 until I started watching your videos.
Thanks Cliff! And I never worry about negative comments. I'm just putting info out there and people can take it or leave it. Negative comments are usually coming from something they're going through and it doesn't have anything to do with me. I'm here to lift people up and I love that you're on board with that! Premiere Pro video coming soon👍
David Manning I’m so happy to hear the negative stuff doesn’t bother you. Many of the creators I have been watched start to get discouraged over time by the negativity. I get it, but also it makes me sad. One common theme seems to be discouragement from relatively few negative comments when the vast majority are positive and affirming. Keep on keeping on! Cheering for you.
awesome video btw and replying to your comment on finding a job a good option is the food industry. for example in my town we have 2 companies that grade and package eggs and one company that packages frozen vegetables. not only will these jobs help keep you busy but they are very essential for everyone! many people are taking a leave of absence maybe because of there age or health reasons. especially if you're young I'd encourage those who are able to apply to these jobs
Also, how do you feel about LumaFusion on iPad Pro, is it garbage and a waste of time or can someone get decent results for beginning in video creation? Let me know, thanks.
Hi David just bought a Go Pro 8, and subsequently found your channel. Great video good pace and very informative and excellent humour. Thank you for your tips, they have been implemented. One other question on battery life, is it worth dimming the screen brightness?
Thanks Tony! I think it's up to you whether that's a useful feature. I personally use the screen a lot to frame my shot and when I'm not, I don't go through the hassle of manually dimming the screen. I think if you're going to helmet mount or chest mount, something where you're not looking at the screen, setting the screen to dim after a couple minutes is a great battery saver!
Another tip as a video producer: as long as your shutter speed is higher than your frame rate (which should never go below 30 fps unless you're shooting actual movies), then you'll be fine because the double shutter rate is only for the purpose of making things look somewhat sharper and closer to real life.
Just got my first gopro. Started using it the day I got it and I also had to drive so I didn't have a way to check the settings. Started using it, looked at the footage on the gopro and it looked good. Loaded the footage onto my phone and it was playing pretty fast. Im assuming it was the FPS?? I had it at its highest that it goes (I think) and also 1080.
I'm not good at explaining, I mean my footage looked like it was in fast forward, the voice and talking was there, it all matched up, sisnt have the fast chipmunk voice but the videos just play faster than it should.
I would LOVE a video on how you edit your GoPro footage, currently I'm using a Hero 7 Black with premiere pro to shoot the majority of our family holidays so editing tips are always welcome! Big love from the UK. (Sidenote, I need me one of those tees!)
I just got an 8s my first ever GoPro! I am looking to do external charging with a powerbank. I know theres a Ulanzi G8-7, but I can't seem to get shipped to Canada. Are there any other possible solutions?
hello sir eagerly looking forward for the video on how to edit the gopro footage. my goporo footage sucks too and it'd be lovely if you share a premier pro tutorial with us.
You talking about cutting and editing footage or color grading footage? Just did a color grade video recently! ruclips.net/video/dlgeg4bkGCw/видео.html
to get the really good stuff on the gopro max you should use the stock color profile and mostly auto. yeah yeah, i know i know. hard to believe but holy crap go pro has absolutely nailed it with the max color profile. side by side with the 8 and 7 the max is on another level. as long as you are good with 1080.
I have been watching you video's for some time now. You are a great teacher. And I'm getting better all the time. But here's my dilemma. I'm not a photographer by any means. But I am a Wedding DJ. And I have a hero 8. The only camera I have. My question is. What settings would you recommend for a dim ballroom with bright DJ Lights? Everything I have tried. It's either to hot or to dark. Also would it make my life easier? To purchase the installation 360 one x2? So I can get any shot, with one camera? Thank you so much in advance. But I'm desperate.
If you're doing a 24fps video for the night boost in quality, you can't really throw that into a 30fps timeline without getting the stutter, correct? Is there any good way of MacGyvering this? Thanks for the tips!
Hi David! I've learnt so much from your GoPro videos over the past 6 months. Tomorrow ill be uploading my first proper, edited travel film using your tips. So even though I have improved a lot, I would still love to see your work method! Please!
Hi I bought a hero 8 last February and the screen is all black I though would be a Firmware issue but when I try to see the video I recorded the screen only shows me white noise image, what im I doing wrong? please any help !
Great stuff David - Thanks for sharing. Can you point me to the other video you mentioned where you run through your favourite Hero 8 settings for shooting Video in general ?
Thank you very much for the video, very informative even though if you ask me I know everything lol. I am a professional eater that shot with a cell phone for 2 years or more then my GF that watches Vlogs non stop had pushed me to use my Go Pro for everything and not just for my food challenges where I was stationary. Really startin' to make time to learn the features of the Go Pro because I like quality for my subscribers. I really enjoy the Rode Go Mic with lav since my GF doesn't talk loud on our food reviews and mukbangs. Can't wait til the Display finally arrives so I know what I am shootin' at when I am in a pinch at food contests and such. I do have questions about my Go Pro overheatin' at times. Not every time I use it but like 5-10% of the time if I shoot for more then 20 minutes at 4k/ 30FPS. I have the GoPro Max 360 but my editin' software Filmora Wondershare 9 doesn't allow me to edit that and when I try to look at tutorials I just can't figure out how to really use it when pickin' points to be viewed then meshin' them together. I tried some of the platforms like GoPro VR Player and such but can't figure it out so I just do not use the Max at all. I know I have many different topics but if any of the subscribers/viewers on here as well as you can help lead me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you again for your video, every tip helps (That's what she said)
Is imovie quality enough to be editing? The issue i've had the few times i've edited with iMovie was that my files render at like 42+ gigs when it was a 4g file..

Yikes!!! have been trying out the basic settings on my Go Pro , but not happy,,, hence,, your tutorial ! Do you have any other points i need to know??? Will mount the Go Pro on an Octopus stand,, high up hopefully. The shed in all should take up to 6 hours,, hopefully less,,, i have an external power bank,, and 2 spare batteries,,, I suppose,, if after every battery change,, i can stop the Recording,, re power up,, then restart the shed building. Does this sound like a good idea ?? Regards Arthur

awesome video btw and replying to your comment on finding a job a good option is the food industry. for example in my town we have 2 companies that grade and package eggs and one company that packages frozen vegetables. not only will these jobs help keep you busy but they are very essential for everyone! many people are taking a leave of absence maybe because of there age or health reasons. especially if you're young I'd encourage those who are able to apply to these jobs
Thanks Damien! I appreciate the thought man!
I do 4k 30, wide, boost on, Max iso 800 SOMETIMES 1600, GoPro color, sharpness low or medium. Works great. Oh and wind off, always recording stereo
That's a solid setup!
Also, how do you feel about LumaFusion on iPad Pro, is it garbage and a waste of time or can someone get decent results for beginning in video creation? Let me know, thanks.
I haven't tried LumaFusion, but I've heard really good things about it!
Thank you for the nice tips. It works. It's helpful video 💖
Hey so I mounted my hero 8 to my skateboard with a bad clip mount and I think I scratched the lens a little is there anything I can do to save it.
I would thoroughly enjoy a video on how you edit GoPro footage. Love all your videos
Thanks Barry, I'll get one in the works! It sounds like that's the main thing most people are looking for!
love your videos can you do a video on the best cheap action cameras cause i would love action camera to do mountain biking videos but i have no money
I'll check out a few and see if I find one that's a solid alternative!
@@DavidManningvlog thanks
awesome tips! especially the battery saving ones
Thanks for watching!
Just bought my first one. Can’t wait to dive in.
@David Manning What's the name of the song that is playing in the background?
Ive been looking at videos on this stuff for hours and yours is the best and the nicest.
Would like to know what were you using to shoot this VLog
Sony A7RII👍
Do you have tips on settings for the Gopro 5?
Check my latest settings video and most of them apply to the Hero 5 as well!
@@DavidManningvlog would this apply for recording myself golfing? Thanks
Another tip as a video producer: as long as your shutter speed is higher than your frame rate (which should never go below 30 fps unless you're shooting actual movies), then you'll be fine because the double shutter rate is only for the purpose of making things look somewhat sharper and closer to real life.
Anyone else feel like he was about to start singing in the beginning? He was in the perfect key for Talk To Me, by the Peaches
Hahahaa! You never know when I might!
Love you videos, they are very informative. Many thanks.
Really like your style, energy and tips. Just entering the GoPro world and look forward to subscribing and learning!
Thanks Gaye! Excited for you to dig in to things!
Here 11 months later, really glad this channel is working out for you 🙂👍
I would LOVE a video on how you edit your GoPro footage, currently I'm using a Hero 7 Black with premiere pro to shoot the majority of our family holidays so editing tips are always welcome! Big love from the UK. (Sidenote, I need me one of those tees!)
Love it Ben! I'll get working on a video soon addressing what I do to edit my footage. Keep an eye out for that soon!
Yes please GoPro editing video!

I just got an 8s my first ever GoPro! I am looking to do external charging with a powerbank. I know theres a Ulanzi G8-7, but I can't seem to get shipped to Canada. Are there any other possible solutions?
Hey im looking to buy my first ever gopro the 8 aswell , but the price is stupid high , how much and where did u get it from ? Uk
Coffee cup filled to the brim is a great way to explain how carefully you need to maneuver a GoPro!
Yeah, nothing is worse than someone operating a camera like a flashlight.....🤣🤣🤣
hello sir eagerly looking forward for the video on how to edit the gopro footage. my goporo footage sucks too and it'd be lovely if you share a premier pro tutorial with us.
Editing tutorial please. This was a helpful video too as a beginner, so thanks 👍🏻
You talking about cutting and editing footage or color grading footage? Just did a color grade video recently! ruclips.net/video/dlgeg4bkGCw/видео.html
A video on how you edit your gopro footage in PP would be AWESOME!

@@DavidManningvlog poggers 👍🏼
Love the GoPro vids really helpful
to get the really good stuff on the gopro max you should use the stock color profile and mostly auto. yeah yeah, i know i know. hard to believe but holy crap go pro has absolutely nailed it with the max color profile. side by side with the 8 and 7 the max is on another level. as long as you are good with 1080.
David, thank you very much for rhis video, hope you and your family are okay!
Heck yeah Carlos! Same to you man, stay safe out there!
Hi David! I've learnt so much from your GoPro videos over the past 6 months. Tomorrow ill be uploading my first proper, edited travel film using your tips. So even though I have improved a lot, I would still love to see your work method! Please!
Just got a Hero 8 Black and put up the test video. Then I saw your tips haha. Thanks for the good info, I subscribed.
Thanks for the tips
Hi I bought a hero 8 last February and the screen is all black I though would be a Firmware issue but when I try to see the video I recorded the screen only shows me white noise image, what im I doing wrong? please any help !
I needed this video so bad! You help me so much! I have never been so excited to get paid and sign up for your Patreon and buy your merch!
Hahah! Love it man! Thanks Andrew!!!
Good tips!
Would you Still recommend using 24 frames for like helmet mount mountainbike content (or something similar like motorbike)
If you want a more natural look (cinematic) to your footage, then go for 24fps, but if you want more of that action sport vibe, go 30fps 👍
Great stuff David - Thanks for sharing. Can you point me to the other video you mentioned where you run through your favourite Hero 8 settings for shooting Video in general ?
Sure thing Scott! ruclips.net/video/HtDpKqa1d2A/видео.html
thanks for the info my friend..more power
Stay safe & God bless us all..!
Great video
Thanks Travel Channel
Didn’t expect to feel personally attacked in this video :(

Glad it was helpful!
Definitely would love to see an editing video. Thank you for your awesome vids!
Yes, edit gopro video please!! And how can you match gopro and drone footage ?
Yes. GoPro video edit. Please. Thank you!
Working on it!👍
@@DavidManningvlog Hello from Brazil!! :D waiting this tutorial ;)
Awesome David, thank you. Ive had a GoPro 4 and just waiting delivery of a Hero 8. Much appreciated!!
Can I use these tips for a hero 7?
Yup! Pretty much all of them!
Brilliant video,, really loved it and was very useful.
Im about to put together a Poly Carbon shed , tommorow!!! Yikes!!!
have been trying out the basic settings on my Go Pro , but not happy,,, hence,, your tutorial !
Do you have any other points i need to know???
Will mount the Go Pro on an Octopus stand,, high up hopefully.
The shed in all should take up to 6 hours,, hopefully less,,,
i have an external power bank,, and 2 spare batteries,,,
I suppose,, if after every battery change,, i can stop the Recording,, re power up,, then restart the shed building.
Does this sound like a good idea ??
Regards Arthur
Thanks! Editing video would be great! Especially one with examples in addition to explanation
Ok bud, Question. Do you have the best settings for the GoPro hero 3 plus?? lol. yes, I still use the gold one lol
Oh man, I don't even know which of the current settings still apply to the Hero 3!
lol man, ill be honest with you. I really think this old one works a lot better than the 8 black. I really like it. I really don't do much with it. I'm not that good at editing video so I'm a little overwhelmed about even going out and videoing anything but what I have done with it its a lot better footage and better to move around in.
I'd like to see a video on editing your Gopro videos. Your videos very enjoyable to watch. (stroke, stroke)
