Great to see the build and journey with this car. Keep up the great work. Great watching people have as much fun as you guys grinding away each weekend!
Great job, JD! Love how neutral the car looks. So little steering input required on entry, just letting it rotate the way god (or at least Senna) intended. Glad you're not hitting the Easy Button with more power yet.
Two things. First, congrats on placing! Second, it is awesome to see you strip the interior and add the roll bar. I see so many people talk about weight, but you are the first one to strip out the interior. Would love to know more about how difficult or easy that was. I am really enjoying your videos as you focus on weight and handling. Thank you!
Hi Jackie - Amazing track day for you and your team. I just stumbled on your channel and this is my first video. I love the 23 M2 -- amazing car. Thank you for taking us to the track! Sub'd.
Some like the roll bar cam, some like the POV. POV has just became our style because it tells the story from my viewpoint! We do occasionally upload lap record videos from the roll bar cam.
@@JackieDing86 You should do both. POV has a tight field of view, with the camera behind you can get a much better relative understanding of the cars attitude and positioning. POV has a sense of speed and drama which is also fun.
I think you need to play more with tire pressures and monitor temperature on the outer edge, inner edge and middle of the tire. You were running 32psi in this video, and 35 in the pervious if I remember correctly. Maybe you can use a skidpad to experiment.
What an awesome battle Jackie! When I pulled up to you at the pit entry coming off track from the Podium Sprint, I legitimately didnt know if my 37.2 was good enough and with how rough my 1st lap was, I really had no idea what to expect with that time. Congratulations on the 2nd place and looking forward to more battles before you leave us Street GT folks for faster pastures! Also, still so so sorry about that stupid T1/2 behavior during Q1, made the wrong choice for how to handle the traffic by trying to get out way off line.
BMW use's a custom P4S it's similar to the Cup 2. It has an extra strips of "the black carbon+". Tyre Reviews did a whole thing on 4s vs 4s*. I highly recommend you give it a watch.
This is true, I was about to comment this. The OE vs off the shelf formulation of the PS4S does vary. We’ll see how the PSS5 compares once that begins to roll out.
Another great video. Interesting tire experiments. Congrats on the 305 tires, the M2 rotates beautifully on them. My guess on the reason for less grippy cup 2: it's not the tires. Instead, the front rims inside the cup 2 tires might have a more significant positive offset or less significant negative offset. That is, they are pushed further outside. On the other hand, pushing the front wheels into the wheel well would do good to the handling in your case. If my guess is not too crazy (which is aligned with my comment a week ago and negative offset should have higher priority over wheel width and tire stickiness), swapping the cup 2 tires onto the stock rims (if fitment is good) would let the cup 2 live up to their sticky reputation.
Is it possible to fit 325 in the rear? Unfortunately, Apex doesn't make 12" wide wheels for BMW (5x112) and 325 works best on 12" wheels. Perhaps they can make a custom one for you guys because I think 325 rear / 305 rear will be perfect for this car.
So, how much more weight can you chip of? Battery, lightweight exhaust, maybe carbon fibre hood. All prety expensive…nice car. Design has grown on my a bit more. I see 5 hard right turns, only three hard left turns in the track layout. Have you considered different tyrepressures on both sides?
Very intense when ido went by quietly, I could hear it in your voice you knew he’d get you. Great run though very happy for you guys. What about a rear wing, if it’s allowed do you think that would keep the rear down in the long sweeping bends to put the power down?
Awsome video, what do you use for in car video? Data recording overlay, would love to get my in car video better. Also looking at an aim solo2 non DL model, what you have.
Could it be the Cup 2s compound is a little dated compared to the PS 4S. Jackie awesome seeing you using the GR Supra and now the new M2 to its limits 💯👍
Hi Jackie! Great video as aleays, waiting to see further development on this platform 💪 Only 1s between p4s and crs squared setup left me with a bit of disappointment... I was also noticing your gforces in braking are a bit weak, is the system recording them trustworthly? Whats your feedback?
Impressive how you guys were able to gobble up a 305/30/19 squared on the m2. Besides the inner liner mod and spacers, anything else you guys had to modify to fit them? Good driving JD!
As we said in the video, Millway Camber Plate, RKP Liner, and fits! We’re working on final spec production wheels that won’t require spacers. Coming soon.
Jackie, Love your M2 vids. Do you LEFT foot brake? If so, how about placing a camera there so we can study your footwork? You and your crew are fun to watch. - David S.
I do left foot brake exclusively in the M2 and Supra. Years ago I actually ran a pedal cam on these cars but ended up dropping the idea since the feedback was "it wasn't interesting". I'm working on getting pedal positions back in the M2 just as we have it in the Supra!
The sport/sport plus engine modes increases the ramping on the throttle pedal, they both make the throttle pedal way too touchy and really easy to induce wheelspin. Efficient allows for a better control of the power.
Interesting that you seem to run the MTC only on either 5+ or 0, not on 1-2. What's the reason for that? I would have thought keeping a tiny bit of traction control active would be helpful.
So here is actually a brief understanding of the M TC on my side: M TC at 1-5 monitors the yaw angle. I found those settings, when I played with it, often creates initial on-power rotation when I step on the gas but then cut power when I exceed the set limits of the yaw angle. So I'd end up sliding but not able to put the maximum power down, i.e. slower. The M TC at 6 often lets me rotate on entry, then maintains the fairly minimal slide angle while maximizing traction. I found this to be the easiest to be consistently fast with. M TC at 0 gives full control of the power, so even when I'm full on sliding, I can demand full power from the car and find some forward momentum. This might ultimately be faster than M TC 6, but a little harder to drive it right consistently. It's a lot of fun to play with honestly. I'm having a blast!
@@JackieDing86 Makes sense! Very cool, thanks for the detailed reply. I figured it would be like the competition mode on corvette stability control or Ferrari's side slip angle control where it would allow and then hold a certain angle of slide
Props to Phd for working on the new M2, but jeez how disappointing… 3,660# stripped turned into a two seater. As much as it pains me to say, the Zupra is still the winner on a road course. Where has the 3,000 lb. E46 gone?
He explained why in the unveiling video, basically this is a time attack car and he wants to be able to focus on driving and finding the limit of the platform instead of focusing on not missing a shift, plus these transmissions are good
I actually enjoyed the roll bar cam. I "felt" the car coming in and out of turns
Yess more of that please!!!
It's the perfect POV
Noted. Will experiment more!
I also prefer it
People want to see this, I think the algorithm should show a little more love. Thanks for the armchair adrenaline rush!
This was an awesome video - showed up in my recommended. I stayed for the entire thing and subbed.

Honestly the interior removal took me, without any experience on G87’s, about 3 hours to remove everything behind the driver seats!

Enjoyed the video...awesome job man!!
Enjoying seeing the potential of this platform from a serious driver. Excited to follow along with the channel.
I'm so impressed how long the OEM pads lasted you and kept up with the hot laps and traction system.
Honestly pretty amazing!
Great to watch dude, you are ripping it
Damn, it's a heavy bastard! My M4 F82 weighs 3443 pounds fully fuelled with rear seat and almost all options.
awesome yall!
I run 305 ar1s on the front of my m4 xdrive and 305 cup 2s on the rear.
Huge difference between the different versions of cup 2! The BMW star marked ones are so much quicker, were you using these? Great vids BTW!! 👌
Yep. We were on the Cup 2 Star Spec, see 2 or 3 videos previously
That means that bmw and Michelin add a special sauce to the star marked ps4s. 🎉🎉🎉

I'm considering going 305 square on my G82. Do you think it's a bad idea?
Holy crap those brake pads are massive. I'm used to MX-5 brake pads that are like 1/4 of those :D
What is your procedure for a pad change at the track? Anything done with rotors? Bedding in before going on track?
Very nice video.

Bonus points for the Initial D gutter reference

can you do a video on the re71rs would love to hear your thoughts on that tire.
What do you think about BMW going back to the automatics from the DCT? Does it have more torque capacity? I thought they would shift slower?
It great video as usual, but in cabin clips seems you have a mic at the exhaust tip. It's so loud I had to lower volume when you start lapping.

What does Ido have done to his car? At the Glen his performance was insane with what looks like no aero.
Is the car faster with engine mode in efficient?
would like to know the reasoning behind this also
The sport/sport plus engine modes increases the ramping on the throttle pedal, they both make the throttle pedal way too touchy and really easy to induce wheelspin. Efficient allows for a better control of the power.
Hey Jackie, you mentioned getting the 19x11 VS-5RS. Is that the ET22 offset that is listed under m3/4 g8x? what spacer thickness did you guys use?
12 mm spacer
Hey, loving the content, whilst I wait on my M2 arrival! Quick question, is there any specific reason why you keep the engine in comfort mode?
My guess is a more linear throttle. When I put my g80 m3 in its most aggressive setting, it’s very touchy.
The Sim Card Grille is growing on me.
Pretty impressive for such a stock car!
Stock-ish!! Hah

lol P2 on stock power :O you're gonna terrorize this class by the time you're finished 😂
Why the engine power set up on efficient
Ps4s may have stiffer sidewall and are able to take more heat
PS4S or nankang AR-1 best options imho
You need a pedal cam! Or some sort of throttle/brake graphic!
four 305 tires on your m2?
Is there any reason you drive with the engine in comfort?
Throttle map is more linear im sure so he can modulate the throttle more finely
