The extended support will work if Microsoft keeps it at $30 for home users. I can see them either raising the price for years 2 and 3 or just dumping it after the 2025 $30 home price.
I haven't been excited about any Windows release, the last OS that I really enjoyed was Amiga OS 3.1, so I'm one of those sticking to Win 10 Pro for as long as possible. Every new iteration of Windows seems to have more bad stuff added while the things I like are taken away, so MS can shove them where the sun don't shine. YMMV
One feature I would like to see is that MS develop an android version of the movie tv app, so I can watch things I've bought from the MS Store on my android phone. I can use xbox etc connected to my tv. Sometimes, I just want to watch on my phone without buying the content on another platform 😒 😊😊 Chrome Cast doesnt allowing mirroring due to copy rights... Albeit android sub system is no longer supported
Why would I even consider moving to a new version of Windows when Microsoft is completely incapable of releasing updates that work on the current version. They need to focus on getting the current version to work correctly before thinking about moving to something new.
Oh... but there is. These are just hidden into updates. E.g. about 18 months ago I bought a laptop for my studies. I made sure that it is compatible with windows 11. I checked the requirements from microsoft's web-pages and and I made sure that everything is more than minimum. Now, it is no more compatible for updates. for some reason, my intel core i-7 processor is does not meet minimum requirements of 23H2. My updates stopped to 22H2. You can see the life cycles of 23h2 and 24h2. There is the new windows version cycles hidden.
ghacks has an article Why Microsoft doesn't want to talk about Windows 12. If Windows 12 is in development, the probably won't want to talk about it because they are they are trying to get WIndows 10 users to upgrade to Windows 11 before Windows 10 support ends.
MS have a balancing issue to resolve, i.e., who are they catering for, enterprise or home users or both? They have the same issues atm with Fabric and Power platforms, including Power BI. Developing features for enterprise with AI capability that cause privacy concerns and Home who don't want or use them or are confused about what they are. In the end, few people use them except tech enthusiastic people.
I have given up on Windows 12 too. It will no doubt be worse even than Windows 11. Microsoft has shown their true colors: Total disdain for what users want. I will have to switch to Linux eventually. I am worried about it, but it is what it is.
New Windoze version? The Win11 is making toddler's steps, meaning spending more time on the floor than walking... Are they ever going to make it worh without breaking computers with every update? Before they bring the newer version.
sounds like I don't want to skip 11 only to land in a big puddle of poop called whats it ..? if you think I don't want a lot of AI stuff you'd be correct .. maybe I'll just keep cruzin with 10
In my honest opinion I believe we are seeing the 2nd birth of A.I driven computers for one reason alone ! Microsoft wants all machines to run A.I under the hood so that they can control your computer and even use it for machine learning from millions of users personal data. I truly believe that we are heading for an operating system that may one day require everyone to pay a monthly fee just to run windows fully. They are already forcing users to have to login with a Microsoft account to make use of there other online services like email and one drive etc. They know many users require these services and that is how they force you to buy into all this new A.I driven computing. Once the account opt out feature is completely taken away you will be stuck with an OS you cannot fully use without having this login feature. The future of Microsoft is a machine learning device but on a massive scale ! Think about how much information will be gained as millions use this new OS. The days of owning your software to operating system out of a box with a product key are over ! You will have to continue paying a subscription for everything in the very near future. You will own nothing and enjoy it !!!!! This is where we are heading sadly. Great article my friend.
What happened to that story of "Windows 10 will be the last Windows released, we will not create a new Windows, instead we will update 10 constantly"?
It isn't that the three-year cycle is in the dumpster, Microsoft is in the dumpster!
Thanks for your information
When it comes to 10, my understanding is that continued support will cost $30 a year after October. Which, if true will keep a lot of people on 10.
I can see Microsoft doing a rolling release for future operating systems like they kinda did going from 10 to 11 and Linux does.

Microsoft is in a holding pattern on Windows software waiting to see how AI evolves.
What is future is Linux at M$?
4 years would be a good cycle. But they really should next year Release 12 with no minimum requirements.

If they integrated AI into the OS, I wonder if it could scan its own code and fix the thousands of bugs that are in Windows.

Question...if I uninstall an update, will I get my USB ports back?
I'll still wait for Windows 12, because Win 11 24h2 is a game breaker for power users and gamers. Win 11 and all the Flavors is like Win 8.0 and 8.1
Microsoft needs to hire some of those Linux people!

Disabled 24H2 in the group policy editor. Installed Linux Mint and will not go to whatever spyware laden version of Windows. I control my devices.
Its great news hearing NO Windows 12 If it aint broke, dont fix it. Long live Windows 11

Then MS needs to keep up their support of win 10 for many more years !

They postponed Windows 12, to focus on AI 😉 It will come 🥳
No for win 12 Microsoft should stop it
if win12 require a stupid npu .... most people will stay in win11 or win10 ... or switch to mac or linux ...
