    Rolls Gracie is forever the biggest “WHAT IF” in GJJ. Rickson growing being dominated by Rolls is large part why Rickson took the mantle of Family Champion after Rolls passing

    • @jrowlandj
      @jrowlandj 4 месяца назад +5

      Listen to Dan Gable talk about how good Rolls was. Where the Gracie family was famous for inviting other fighting styles to come to them for challenges, Rolls went out into the world to find the best grapplers available to compete against. He was the uncrowned king of his era and his death was an understated tragedy.

    Rei Zulu só tinha tamanho e força... o negócio dele era taparia. Não há nada de espetacular nesse combate. Os Gracie sempre escolheram a dedo ops adversários e sempre viveram mais do marketing do que de qualquer outra coisa. Na Luta do Renzo vs Eugênio, até a luz eles apagaram quando o Eugênio estava em clara vantagem na luta... Enfim, a família Gracie tem seus méritos, mas nunca foram honestos nos combates, eles sempre arrumam algum problema e tentam levar no grito.

    Notice how Rickson worked his way to a takedown?! That's real good old Jiu Jitsu right there. You're supposed to work for your takedown and not expect the other guy to go straight to the ground voluntarily... That's lazy as hell. And yes, I'm talking about when Royler demanded of K. Sakuraba to join him on the ground so he can choke him, just because he couldn't take down Kazushi Sakuraba and keep him grounded with him.

      @billj4525 6 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah, this is not really MMA, although similar it's vale-tudo. MMA has a lot more rules, and is just a different sport for many reasons. This was before MMA, and most fighters never trained on the feet. The Gracies never even thought they needed it, since they thought they could beat strikers with just their style, and in most cases they were right. Even Royce had no problem beating strikers, but the strikers were of low level back then. You would need Rickson to beat top level strikers.
