Thanks for the Just the shanties varient nice for car rides, but please don't stop the regular Shanty of the week format. I love the story/background on the shanties! They're so very interesting.
I'm glad you like these variants. There is no danger off the SOTW form ceasing. I will continue to make the "discussion" videos and then eventually extract the JTS versions.
I appreciate you making the Just The Shanties! Your rendition of Bully In The Alley is one of my favorites. I even memorized the timestamp on the original Shanty of the Week video lol
I absolutely fell in love with your version of this song when you featured it in SOTW! So glad that you've uploaded a dedicated video for it as well. :D
Ive listened and sang my lungs out for 3 days straight to this beauty. You are hands down the best in the shanty game. Longest johns got nothin on you!!
You sir have become a very welcome addition to my car rides. I love your shanties and I love the way you explain things, I really enjoy the nautical jargon. Keep up the good work sir.
I would love to see Amsterdam Maid/A Rovin' being perfomed by you, Seán. Love your work and dedication, every week bringing us those amazing shanties to sing along!
Spent my day listening to every SotW, and this is the one that got stuck in my head. Those harmonies at the chorus are the nicest thing I've heard in ages.
Tysvm Sean, learning to sing shanties with my husband is a priceless treasure. Your beautiful voice is so soothing & makes every shanty even better! One of the great voices singing the shanties right alongside Stan Rogers 😍😍
Great to have just the shanty rendition to listen to. But I'am also very glad having read your comment saying that the normal SOTW form continues! The discussion parts are always very informative
Greetings here sir! I just discovered your channel from your collab with "Colm Mcguinness" I say really love your style out here, pure and natural shanties🙏🙏😁😁
My wife and I are big fans of assassins creed and we love the shanties you did for the game. The versions on your channel sound way better than what was in the game. I wonder why they had a different tone. But really enjoy your videos
In the game, we weren't trying to make them sound good. In fact, we were discouraged from singing nicely or adding harmonies. That's partly why I started this series: I wanted to exploit the potential of these songs to be beautiful. The AC versions were super fun to listen record and I like listening to them still, but here I'm allowed to make them as nice as or as not nice as I want.
Sir... I just can't. Commented on your Leave her Johny leave her shanty, you didn't forget to reply which cheered me up. I have to do it again. Your version of Randy Dandy Oh, Leave Her Johny, Drunken Sailor and Bully In The Alley in Assassin's Creed 4 just made me fall in love with shanties. Your voice is pure ambrosia but for my ears. Your voice is so authentic and well connected to sea shanties thanks to your work in Assassin's Creed 4. Whether my mood is low or it's raining outside, it's nothing as long as I can hear some of your shanties to elevate my mood real high. I would really love to hear your version of Whiskey Johny, Lowlands Away and Spanish Ladies. Keep it up sir, for your voice is really appreciated by the community. Have a nice day and a nice summer!

Love your vids, story or just the shanty! How nice to hear the words clearly(and your harmonies!) Question: A song I heard from a folk record my mom had-when I was little ; it was like a sing song tale - I can't remember its title! lyrics I recall .. But don't DON'T go swimmin with a mermaid son, if ya don't know how to swim! So I signed on to a whalin' ship, & my very first day at sea ....." Is that an actual shanty? 'her hair green as seaweed, skin blue and pale .. her head to her waist was just my taste, but I didn't much like her tail ... '

I wonder Sean if you have ever heard the song "The Blarney Stone" by the excellent "comedy" band WEEN? It strikes me as a sort of latter day shanty format song.
