I think it was stated somewhere that he didn't care if the world ended with him. He just wanted to be its ruler, even if he was the last man left alive. Yado was delusional with a god complex and didn't always act logically.
It's possible we only knew part of Dr.Yato's plan. It's likely that Yato knew about the flash before it happen as he was one of the only ones that was in contact with women after the flash. Buzzo even says at one point that "Buddy would have been an asset to the women" implying that Buzzo and Yato had more women stashed away
You know, i wouldn't be surprised if he himself used joy (then cured himself) but it's psychological drive to do what is most important to them (For Yato, power) consumes them. At least, that also makes sense.

I said that a God complex implies superiority over the beings one rules over and thus not wanting to be one of them, which is why Yado would keep a vaccine around to not turn himself. Austin liked it and said that it'd now be canon. Which was one of my proudest moments, to add to my favourite game series of all time. Even if it's just a footnote to a potential plot hole. I think it's because the game's fandom has so much trouble spreading. It's so miserable to play that you only feel comfortable recommending it to someone if you're 100% positive that they'll be able to appreciate it's ability to create that kind of world.
The creator and destroyer of his world. He was a genius but still a failure. He planned everything Buddy, Brad, and Buzzo but he was the weakest of everyone.
He probably designed the mutated subjects to be soothed by the melody of his trumpet, and kept that detail to himself to be their sole ruler. Hell, you could even argue that he is costantly guiding Brad subconciously since most if not all the overworld themes have trumpets sound in it.

There is a theory that says that the woman that was Buddy's mother was Marty's wife and her leaving him for Yado was the reason he became this abusive crap father that we see him at the beginning of the game... If that's true then Yado might be a trigger for *everything* not just Joy and Apocalypse... for Lisa's death... Buzzo's obssesion... the cycle of pain... Yado did everything wrong

Yado may not have initially helped buddy out of love just to keep her around to cause more trouble but he slowly grew attached He was also watching the battle with brad he may have made him fight buddy or he was "possessed" by lisa as implied by the credits Also in a way yado won the moment buddy was released as all humans now descend from his blood. In one of the houses in nice homes they mention they hate his polka dots
Yado...We know so little about why he created Olathe...what drove him to end the world...we can only guess... Was he a scientist whom felt like he had the means to rule the world? Was he a man whom felt under appreciated in the military and felt cheated by the failure of his project? Was he driven mad by its failure? Makes you wonder what he would have done if Buddy didn’t confront him in Joyful. Would he have become a big deal? A mysterious warlord whom could “control” the monsters? We can only speculate what Yado could have become if his plan gained momentum without Buddy’s interference... Yado fills the role of behind the scenes villain perfectly, with the small encounters we get from him in the game he seems like a very entitled and prideful man of science, whom is driven by a warped mentality of megalomania. The fact that this character who i thought was a one-off background gag in Painful ended up being the final boss in Joyful is fucking hilarious and mind-blowing. Love weird surprises like that.

I know im very late but the child is definitely not a mutant. In the ending for joyful where buddy doesn’t take the vaccine and drops rando, she is mutated and holding the baby which looks normal
Unfortunately, what's here in the video is pretty much all that's known about the Flash. There's lots of speculation about it, but nothing really confirmed. The best I could do is present some arguments, and let the viewer decide which one they like the best.
This game is so underrated. It deals with so many serious themes very well, but still has some satire and humour to it. This is not an easy thing to do
The one issue i have is that Yado’s wife must have died recently due to the fact how her body is still, well, mostly intact. Meaning that she had to have died fairly recently to the unfolding of the events of the Painful and Joyful. But if that’s the case, why would she let Yado take Nancy away and wait years to kill her. Seeing as she’s in a small room, i’m assuming Yado kept her as a prisoner. Another point is who is the researcher who was hung in the nice neighborhood? Why was he still alive until the recent unfolding of events? Also thank you for explaining all of this. My dumb brain couldn’t understand everything in the story.

I love that despite being a horrible person, they still made him human. They didn't have to. They could have killed him off without giving him any compassion at all, for what little it actually did. It was a natural fit.

galaxy 719 a fair enough reason I guess, but letting your fans decide what’s canon and what isn’t is a mixed bag on the best of days, and saying that ALL fangames basically allows for all of the symbolism and meaningful imagery to be completely non-existent, for Brad to somehow survive, for yado to survive (which he sure as hell doesn’t deserve), or basically have it set that rando was a horrible person in actuality (and if anyone disrespects my rando like that, they’re the horrible person). Hell, I could make a fan game where big Lincoln and buddy bake cookies for 30 years and it’d be considered canon.
I personally always felt that his not fighting Buddy was due to the typical cowardice expected of him, as Buddy comments. He's a scientist, not a fighter or even really a commander, which is why he's unsure as to what he's supposed to do when he's directly confronted with nothing to throw between him and his adversary.
I could see that argument, but I would argue that he didn't hesitate to gun Nancy's Mother down, and the battle with Buddy shows that he DID have something to throw between them as he used his throne to attack her in the battle. I didn't get the feeling that he was afraid of her, but was holding back.

I concede that he could have grown SOME feelings towards her, but I definitely feel there was a serious fear not to infuriate Buddy further by retaliating in Yado.

Halo4guy321 Fairly certain that Austin said Olathe wasn’t the only place affected. Also, in Nern’s long dialogue, he mentions that days last forever and that night rarely comes, which would suggest that this was a worldwide disaster. Also fun to mention that Austin teased the existence of women outside of Olathe.

@@SquatchGamingChannel Truth be told, most of the plot of lisa went by too fast for some people, and not all of it was analyzed right. Heck some have written Yado off as a last minute villain, but I never thought about what he was actually going through. This is probably the only flaw of the story being told through the protagonist and not knowing what the bad guy are really up too. It's recommended to play the game blind first and search for theory video s later.
I said this on a few other videos but theres been alot of talk about the Pointless updates as of recently, is Ed and the team almost finish or is finished with the Monster update and/or Chapter 2? 👀
This is one of the main reasons I wouldn't want to do the Pointless. I would hate to make a whole video on the game only to have it contain incomplete information that could eventually become wrong depending on how the story is updated! I'd prefer to tackle a finished story.

If I may be so bold, could I ask you make a video that explains "The Flash"? We know almost nothing of that, and yeah, it's very likely more of Yado's doings, but I would love to know more about it. Was it a bomb? An accident? A "natural" disaster? A reality bender of sorts, given the apocaliptic state of Olathe and it's climate? I know there may be no clear answers, but I think it's certainly something worth looking into.

Good Question! In the "Joyless" ending of the Painful, Yado is talking about the "failure" of the Joy experiments with Buzzo, and he mentions he's going to use "her" to achieve his goal, that "her" being Nancy. Buzzo then says something along the lines of "Jeez, Yado. You can't do that. That's your daughter." Then Yado himself admits to Buddy that he's her Father, which would mean her name is Nancy. But even if you believe Yado to be untrustworthy in that moment, when you look at the big picture (all he needed to achieve, his hesitation in killing Buddy when he had no issues killing her mother, his willingness to help her when it was clear his plan was going as expected), there's a extremely heavy implication that Buddy is Nancy. Hope that cleared things up for you!

I think so too, but the main issue is that I think the whole concept of having all women (or at least most of them) die off in one night to be really weird and unrealistic, it should've been explained better. Also thanks for replying, your story videos are very enjoyable.
Yeah, that's the super weird part. I've seen several theories trying to explain the Flash, from a weapon that only affected those without the Y-Chromosome (only women) to systemic extermination of the women through unspecified means (perhaps the Creeps who are hinted to be violent to women), and that's before getting into the idea that women are alive but are in hiding (Buzzo mentions Buddy would be an asset for the women), but it's always left a mystery. I've always just accepted that the story isn't about explaining the weirdness of the Flash, but of the struggles of a Parent trying to protect their child from the messed up world they have to grow up and live in. A small comment on the joy trigger: The trigger wasn't violence exactly. The trigger is tied to the person's personal greatest desire. And the trigger comes in two types for two different results: 1. The person successfully achieves their goal of getting what they want. They then transform into a fully content beast that is in eternal bliss, or Joy. 2. The person receives some kind of confirmation that it is no longer possible to ever achieve their goal, no matter what they do. This results in the violent Joy mutants who are constantly angry and sad. These are the ones that will lash out and hurt anyone that gets near.
Just a small thing but exponentially is not used to describe that something “grows a lot” or “fast”. It’s used to describe something that grows faster and faster, think of it as “the bigger it is the faster it grows”. Understandable why you would think so though as a lot of politicians and other official roles use the word in that way. Just remember that they are good at talking but that’s about it. Great video though, especially as LISA videos are kinda rare!

Personally, the way that describes doctor yado, I wouldn't be surprised if HE was the one that caused the flash. Think about it, he planned the war, the lust for women, and the joy mutants. I mean it makes sense.

Because theirs a lot of stuff in that game that was written off too quickly compared to undertale's genocide route. Like say for example, is the whole world telling a meda story through a Purgatory fever dream, about how Hugo really died and for the reason. Maybe the Batter ending, portrays him turning off his sons life support, to end his suffering.

Heck, I found it interesting enough that I made the batter fight brad in one of my video's on my RUclips. Whats the deal with buddy and her baby. When buddy gets to decide if she drops rando or not will determine if she has a baby in the end. But if you drop rando she has a baby and if not she gets molested but doesnt have a baby. It always confused me

Yado...We know so little about why he created Olathe...what drove him to end the world...we can only guess...
Was he a scientist whom felt like he had the means to rule the world? Was he a man whom felt under appreciated in the military and felt cheated by the failure of his project? Was he driven mad by its failure?
Makes you wonder what he would have done if Buddy didn’t confront him in Joyful. Would he have become a big deal? A mysterious warlord whom could “control” the monsters?
We can only speculate what Yado could have become if his plan gained momentum without Buddy’s interference...
Yado fills the role of behind the scenes villain perfectly, with the small encounters we get from him in the game he seems like a very entitled and prideful man of science, whom is driven by a warped mentality of megalomania.

I know im very late but the child is definitely not a mutant. In the ending for joyful where buddy doesn’t take the vaccine and drops rando, she is mutated and holding the baby which looks normal

The one issue i have is that Yado’s wife must have died recently due to the fact how her body is still, well, mostly intact. Meaning that she had to have died fairly recently to the unfolding of the events of the Painful and Joyful. But if that’s the case, why would she let Yado take Nancy away and wait years to kill her. Seeing as she’s in a small room, i’m assuming Yado kept her as a prisoner.
Another point is who is the researcher who was hung in the nice neighborhood? Why was he still alive until the recent unfolding of events?
Also thank you for explaining all of this. My dumb brain couldn’t understand everything in the story.

I love that despite being a horrible person, they still made him human. They didn't have to. They could have killed him off without giving him any compassion at all, for what little it actually did. It was a natural fit.

galaxy 719 a fair enough reason I guess, but letting your fans decide what’s canon and what isn’t is a mixed bag on the best of days, and saying that ALL fangames basically allows for all of the symbolism and meaningful imagery to be completely non-existent, for Brad to somehow survive, for yado to survive (which he sure as hell doesn’t deserve), or basically have it set that rando was a horrible person in actuality (and if anyone disrespects my rando like that, they’re the horrible person). Hell, I could make a fan game where big Lincoln and buddy bake cookies for 30 years and it’d be considered canon.

I personally always felt that his not fighting Buddy was due to the typical cowardice expected of him, as Buddy comments. He's a scientist, not a fighter or even really a commander, which is why he's unsure as to what he's supposed to do when he's directly confronted with nothing to throw between him and his adversary.
I could see that argument, but I would argue that he didn't hesitate to gun Nancy's Mother down, and the battle with Buddy shows that he DID have something to throw between them as he used his throne to attack her in the battle. I didn't get the feeling that he was afraid of her, but was holding back.
@@SquatchGamingChannel Well, Nancy's mother also didn't just kill 6 of the most powerful men in Olathe and (as far as he knew) his strongest mutant.
I concede that he could have grown SOME feelings towards her, but I definitely feel there was a serious fear not to infuriate Buddy further by retaliating in Yado.
Did only Olathe get affected, or was it the whole world?
I'm privy to think the whole world since it seems rather unlikely that just one country would become a wasteland without aid from other countries for many years, but no other regions are ever mentioned so I can't say definitively.

Halo4guy321 Fairly certain that Austin said Olathe wasn’t the only place affected. Also, in Nern’s long dialogue, he mentions that days last forever and that night rarely comes, which would suggest that this was a worldwide disaster. Also fun to mention that Austin teased the existence of women outside of Olathe.

@@SquatchGamingChannel Truth be told, most of the plot of lisa went by too fast for some people, and not all of it was analyzed right. Heck some have written Yado off as a last minute villain, but I never thought about what he was actually going through. This is probably the only flaw of the story being told through the protagonist and not knowing what the bad guy are really up too.
It's recommended to play the game blind first and search for theory video s later.

If I may be so bold, could I ask you make a video that explains "The Flash"? We know almost nothing of that, and yeah, it's very likely more of Yado's doings, but I would love to know more about it. Was it a bomb? An accident? A "natural" disaster? A reality bender of sorts, given the apocaliptic state of Olathe and it's climate? I know there may be no clear answers, but I think it's certainly something worth looking into.

In the "Joyless" ending of the Painful, Yado is talking about the "failure" of the Joy experiments with Buzzo, and he mentions he's going to use "her" to achieve his goal, that "her" being Nancy. Buzzo then says something along the lines of "Jeez, Yado. You can't do that. That's your daughter."
Then Yado himself admits to Buddy that he's her Father, which would mean her name is Nancy.
But even if you believe Yado to be untrustworthy in that moment, when you look at the big picture (all he needed to achieve, his hesitation in killing Buddy when he had no issues killing her mother, his willingness to help her when it was clear his plan was going as expected), there's a extremely heavy implication that Buddy is Nancy.

I had a similar thought; I believed it could have been his wife, but Ding-A-Ling (the developer) actually confirmed that Sweetheart, unmutated, was a character that wasn't introduced in the games.

@@SquatchGamingChannel understandable conclusions that it's the entire world. I think so too, but the main issue is that I think the whole concept of having all women (or at least most of them) die off in one night to be really weird and unrealistic, it should've been explained better.

Yeah, that's the super weird part. I've seen several theories trying to explain the Flash, from a weapon that only affected those without the Y-Chromosome (only women) to systemic extermination of the women through unspecified means (perhaps the Creeps who are hinted to be violent to women), and that's before getting into the idea that women are alive but are in hiding (Buzzo mentions Buddy would be an asset for the women), but it's always left a mystery. I've always just accepted that the story isn't about explaining the weirdness of the Flash, but of the struggles of a Parent trying to protect their child from the messed up world they have to grow up and live in.

A small comment on the joy trigger: The trigger wasn't violence exactly. The trigger is tied to the person's personal greatest desire. And the trigger comes in two types for two different results: 1. The person successfully achieves their goal of getting what they want. They then transform into a fully content beast that is in eternal bliss, or Joy. 2. The person receives some kind of confirmation that it is no longer possible to ever achieve their goal, no matter what they do. This results in the violent Joy mutants who are constantly angry and sad. These are the ones that will lash out and hurt anyone that gets near.
Just a small thing but exponentially is not used to describe that something “grows a lot” or “fast”. It’s used to describe something that grows faster and faster, think of it as “the bigger it is the faster it grows”. Understandable why you would think so though as a lot of politicians and other official roles use the word in that way. Just remember that they are good at talking but that’s about it.

Whats the deal with buddy and her baby. When buddy gets to decide if she drops rando or not will determine if she has a baby in the end.
But if you drop rando she has a baby and if not she gets molested but doesnt have a baby. It always confused me
I've seen numerous theories about who the father could be, and yet no one really knows!

One of the biggest questions I have for this game is where does this take place? I know it is Olathe but is it a state or the normal city in Kansas U.S.A. And has the White Flash affected just Olathe, or the entire world?

No one knows for sure! I think it's likely its the entire world cause I don't see one place getting destroyed like this and having no one else in the world help with recovery.
