As lame as PETA is, they actually have a point that has been twisted here.
More and more natural lands are being cut down to make room for more animal agriculture spots as well as farm land space to make the feed that feeds the outstanding amount of animals slaughtered every year. Which by the way, is more than the human population. If we cut back on meat it cuts back on land that is cut down, mostly for the feed they need, which makes nature's job at keeping fire free easier since the land we cut is what helps to keep natural fires tamed. People also have been starting fires in Australia and again, animal farms cutting back lands has caused a huge problem since most of the ecosystem that helps keep fires contained is now gone. Also Australia does fire stick farming, add that with more and more forest areas being cut into and bam.
It takes nothing to cut back on animal products used, and the studies done by not PETA, but actual scientists who have been trying to tell people for years that animal agriculture is not only the top dog in climate change, but now also helping fires grow with how much lands get destroyed to make room for it, and people refuse to listen because all they see is "Going vegan will stop fires". That's not what we are asking, we ask people to cut back, because again, we need to feed the animals in slaughter farms, and they eat MUCH more than humans do, and again, there is billions of animals to feed.
You guys keep missing the point. It's annoying. But hey, too late now, but it will be hilarious when the news will have no choice but to start airing with "We should have listened to the vegans". It'll be condescending but honestly I'm gunna laugh. Mostly because people make fun of vegans now but when the fires start breaking out more and more, and the temperatures get higher, people are gunna finally scramble.
You're probably reading this and thinking "That's never gunna happen." Except it already is. Veganism is rising in popularity now that people are listening, companies are being told to stop spreading bullshit to keep sales, and many famous folks are using their platforms to speak up. It'll be a while, but it'll happen.
Besides, meat is gross, and what the FDA allows in meat is actual shit. Plant based mock meat exists and tastes better, not claiming it's healthier cause with any diet you need to maintain and balance that.
It may taste good but that's because it is filled with chemicals to make it taste good. Plus extra nutrition because, and this has been also proven again and again, meat is very unhealthy for you. Especially with the fact it literally causes cancer, heart disease and rots in your system.
I suggest you watch some documentaries, do your own research. That's what I did when I used to mock vegans online but then was shown a couple of films and did my own research. What I found makes me sick to my core, not just what happens to animals, but what goes into our food. I didn't stop eating meat because I cared about the animals, I stopped because I was not happy with how the food is treated and processed. Plus the low income families have a place in my heart since they cannot afford to move away from slaughterhouses that spray literal pig shit everywhere and also leave rotting corpses outside.
Big meat industries don't care about you, you're just another dollar sign. They help medical industries by getting you sick too. It's actually funny the link between the two. Dairy causes breast cancer and yet yogurt had the "Breast cancer awareness" logo on it.
At the end of the day though, I could give two shits if you do your own research or actually give a damn. I really don't care what people eat, they have their own lives. But seeing people bash a group that tries to make a change, pisses me off. What have you done to help lessen your carbon foot print? Because going vegan has been proven to be the biggest way to lessen your carbon footprint.
