Russia’s Air Force is substandard in every meaningful metric. Logistically, technically, and leadership wise it is a farce. Russia cannot launch an action against a capital a short distance away! @@JG-mp5nb what takes time to develop is effective doctrine. This is where western air forces especially the united states are far superior to their russian counterparts or russian client states. Also they arent able to answer the US with an air superiority fighter produced in a quantity and quality that is meaningful or have they crafted superior doctrine to give russian pilots any advantage over american pilots. However in the event of conventional war between nato and warsaw pact forces, nato would be hamstrung by the threat of escalation and a nuclear exchange. So nato could not push hard enough to win, especially when attacking targets inside of russia. Russian doctrine allows for the use of tactical nukes on the battlefield or against ships to win a battle and not just as a strategic platform to win a war. Of course we all know how quickly things would devolve into nuclear war and the end of all life on earrh.

There’s a big difference between pulling out of NATO and the American response to an Article 5 invocation being very minimal. This interviewer did an excellent job of expressing the Western European nations exasperation as they grapple with the reality that the Americans are simply tired of carrying the weight of the entire global security apparatus, and the realization that they’re going to have to make some unpleasant choices in the future. But war has returned to Europe, and Europe better get ready. Pray it’s not the case, but be ready just in case.

It goes understated that the role of “free media” in our nation has more to do with what “popular opinion” people have.
If you want “war fatigue” to kick in. Simply keep repeating that term in the media until the masses start attributing it to their misgivings about their daily life and by extension the state.
There’s always a captive frustration of a population. Always. It never goes away.
Where it gets directed to, is a matter of story telling. You can convince a group of people literally anything, be it an honest assessment, or a ridiculous fabrication, by repeating it over and over and directing the group’s ire towards it.
This is the danger of a for profit free media system. There’s profit in stratifying people from each other into identity groups. It lets you have a captive audience that ignores your competitors to get their daily dose of info.
It also rewards a constantly changing pace. If you are winning daily, you’re losing daily. You can’t dramatize a slow paced story that takes years to develop. Youve got to find thangs that are “breaking news” thats giving you “updates by the minute”.
So anyone wanting to beat the west in a military conflict just needs to have a 4 year plan that keeps things boring. Because whatever plan is in place wont last to the next administration’s election cycle.
Our adversaries have 50 year plans and 100 year plans. Any intelligent society should think in those terms, but our media thinks in minutes and hours.
And in autocratic states, their media is quite different. They dont have daily mood swings. They have a consistent tone. Steadfast, resolute, certain. Because they don’t want to drum up public ire towards their benevolent leader. And when emotions go bad, they start feeding a scapegoat.
I mean, look at how republican media and leaders pounded in the “election fraud” term for 6 months leading up to the election, and then miraculously, when he lost, that group was already primed with the story to fall in behind.
Obviously, the election hadn’t occurred yet. There wasn’t an opportunity for fraud to even have occurred, yet it was the prime time talking point on every show that fox news aired before even the primaries were held.
There’s no widespread fraud. The elections, as always, were heavily monitored by both parties for complete transparency. Every election room is video monitored and live-streamed. And all the BS legal cases Trump filed for the sake of optics, to imply something without any proof or evidence, served their intended purpose. Feed the storyline. Feed the storyline.
And the result is a large portion of our nation to this day, after extensive campaign and lawsuits to address the outright lie, still believing in fraud.
Because the same media system has been priming them to only believe what their network tells them. They are immune to truth.
Thats the power of the media. It directs public opinion. It manufacturers it into existence. It doesn’t “report on it”.
So when say a corporation or a foreign power wants to beat the US. All it needs to do is either bribe or trick the media to repeat a storyline until our shortsighted people start following it.

I hope so, but getting participants that are both willing and able is not likely. US could do it, but the American people would likely refuse. Maybe Germany, but the Palestinians might see them as too pro-Israel (though they're closer to being neutral than the US). Ireland has a great track record with peacekeeping missions, and they're pro-Palestine. Regrettably, they might be too pro-Palestine for Israel, and the Palestinians might not trust them if the mission lasts too long or if they feel compelled to use even limited "kinetic means" to deal with terrorism. Now that I think about it, I kinda want to ask an Irish citizen about this. The biggest problem could be the same reason the good General said that Fatah (currently in charge of the West Bank) can't do it: "they don't want to control Gaza on *on the backs of Israeli tanks"*
EDIT: Take what I say with a grain of salt (aside from the US being unwilling) - this was super off-the cuff.

Well he seems completely clueless about the chances the Israel can totally wipe out Hamas. There are 2 million civilians and 20-40 thousand Hamas fighters who can also wear civilian cloths. You can't just seperate out people who look a little nasty from the 2 million civilians.
When you look at any case where an occuptied region has been fighting for indepence you have hundreds of examples across the British Empire, French Empire, Dutch Empire, Spanish Empire, all sorts of examples where you can't just get rid of the freedom fighters.
The British empire was even using concentration camps first in 1885 in what is now South Africa and the last concentration camps the British used were closed in 1960 in Kenya. And the British never got rid of the freedom fighters.
If you look at regions where the occupied people have been treated like humans, given a vote in the democracy and human rights, for example the US with the native American Indians, then things calm down and there is peace. But you don't get peace by commiting genocide.

How long before those wo are 10,11,12 , 14 year olds become 20,21, 22, 23 year olds ? This entire generation , about 800000 children in Gaza have seen their siblings, classmates, cousins, mothers , Fathers getting blown up . They are going to be Hamas++ in brutality . What mercy does Israel expect from a 10 year old who buried his two younger sibilings? US and Israel should stop fighting the people and give them their country back .

General Petraeus did a great job in turning the tide in Iraq. If you want to say that he oversaw a complete failure in Iraq, he's a general, neither the President of the U.S.A. nor an Iraqi who could've continued the insurgency much longer beyond the cutoff date by which Iraq wanted all U.S.A. forces to vacate from Iraq.

I so wish I had access to cutting edge information about how drones are being deployed and used now, and the visions for using them in the future. It's really the future of warfare, of open shipping lanes, of everything. The only thing I could contribute is perhaps a creative role in figuring out new ways to use what's possible now. I always think that relying on tech solutions or the coders for 1.0 solutions is wrong. Tech is great at optimizing, not inventing. I do think swarms of very low cost drones are possible now, I wonder if that's happening.

When I was in the 7th Fleet, USN, we were constantly having to chase China out of the territorial waters of other countries; where they didn't belong. I know quite a bit about their assets, capabilities, and locations....
    If anyone is interested:
    *PLN North [HQ Qingdao]*
1 Aircraft Carrier, 18 Subs, 1 Cruiser, 9 Destroyers, 12 Frigates, 10 Corvettes, 2 Tank Landing Ships, 5 Medium Landing Ships, 18 Missile Patrol Craft
    *PLN East [HQ Ningbo]*
18 Subs, 12 Destroyers, 23 Frigates, 19 Corvettes, 2 Amphibs, 16 Tank Landing Ships, 7 Medium Landing Ships, and 46 Missile Patrol Craft
    *PLN South [HQ Zhanjiang]*
1 Carrier, 20 Subs, 11 Destroyers, 18 Frigates, 20 Corvettes, 4 Amphibs, 13 Tank Landing Ships, 9 Medium Landing Ships, and 22 Missile Patrol Craft
Their Navy isn't as aircraft focused as ours. The reason being that PLAAF pilots have a hard time with simply just staying in the air. So they've designed a very lightweight fleet based on Aerial denial, and a meat grinder island hopping strategy.
The southern fleet is designed for the Philippines. The eastern fleet is the primary defense and its main purpose is Taiwan. The northern fleet is their weakest, because they believe that Russia will help them.
