Maafushi before 5 years was amazing.. Now very crowded and after that hotel 'terrible' for me in the bikini beach.. Lost the natural.. I will choose Fulidhoo sure and I'm thinking Fulhadhoo and Fehendhoo for next time .. 😁
@@StokedForTravel oh really ? I hesitate between this island and the island of Rashdoo, Fulidhoo seems to have a more beautiful lagoon and blue water but Rashdoo a better reef for snorkeling with more sharks in particular... (according to the internet)
Just came back from ukulhas. I was staying in West sands hotel. The best on island. Look for a person name Hardy there. Beach front. Famous with Europeans and Russians mostly. Awesome island. Definitely going back to back maldives.
Great video loads of valuable information thank you - just one question you mentioned there is no ATM on the Island can you give me an idea of how much cash do I conservatively take for a 10 day stay all the tours and experiences for a family of 5 - much appreciated
Sometimes they do turn up in the evenings and you can see them from the beach, but this isn’t super often. You can certainly do alimatha as a snorkel trip though 😊
Hey, thanks soooo much for your video.. it's exactly what I needed. I travelled to resorts hotels around 13 times, I'm just in love with this country. Just a little sad to see how all these beautiful islands begin to renovate into luxury stuff and unaffordable prices with jacuzzis and pools everywhere. I want to try a local island and Fulidhoo seems very good. I'm a diver but love also love to do some snorkelling, would you mind telling me how the snorkelling is ? and if we can snorkel all around the island or is it limited by the bikini beach areas ? Thank you so much
Glad you enjoyed it! For sure Fulidhoo is a great local island option and is beautiful 😊 snorkelling off the island itself is pretty minimal (and you can do it all around the island) but the reefs within a short boat ride are epic and well worth checking out. Make sure you do the Alimatha sunset snorkel too!
Great guide! You mentioned covering your shoulders on the local islands but I’d also say knees as well if you’re a girl. A little bit of respect for the dress code goes a long way 😊
I’m doing 6 nights in Maldives. Want to split into 2 islands. Was thinking dhigurah and1 other. Dhigurah is fairly close to fulhidoo. Which island would anyone suggest/
What's the best of the budget hotels with beach front for female solo travellers or the cheapest holiday resort. Is it a good idea to spread your stay between the two types of resort? Thank you
Good question Saravana! Dolphins are spotted year round, whale sharks are a little less frequent though and there’s no guaranteed sightings - generally speaking though May to Nov is the best time for them and manta rays too 😊 Fingers crossed you get lucky with them!
Hi when I checked on Google maps there is many fulidhoo island, in South male, can you send me the picture of the screenshot of this island that you speak about please? To see exactly which island is it
Still confused about transportation, if speed boat leaves at 11am, and we arrive at 3 pm. How can I book hotel without knowing the possible ride and the price? and the same story with the other islands..
Speedboat times can vary from island to island and operator too, generally speaking though the hotels can help organise transfers. However if you arrive later than the last boat, you might need to spend a night in Malé or Huhulamale for a night and head down the next day
@@StokedForTravel We have 2 hours left before the boat departs, there is no point in spending the night on Male. But my question is, is it risky not to book a boat through the guest house, or will it be okay if we get out of the airport and find this boat? I understand that if we buy a ticket on the spot, it costs $ 20 cheaper per person than through booking at the guest house?
@@JuliyaCoh personally I like landing and knowing that first part of the trip is all sorted, takes the stress out of things. Most guest houses will charge the same rate for the ferry or speedboat option as booking direct though in my experience
@StokedForTravel Hi there! We already came back. Yeah, we booked our transport throw the guest house both ways. But what a disappointment it was that they put us on a really high-speed direct boat from the airport, but we went back on a speed boat, but(!) with 2 more stops on the other 2 islands, as a result, instead of 1.45 hours, we drove 3.5 hours back. It was terrible, and by the way, Guest house asked if we would have a plane that day, to which I replied no, the next morning. That's why they decided to save money and as result is this. Therefore, next time I would like to have everything under control and even book transport myself.

You’ll need to fly into the main Malé International airport and from there it’s either a speedboat or local ferry option 🤙
