Nagdual citizenship ako dito sa SF, nag apply ako sa online for appointment and then nagpunta ako doon with all the documents required. Pagkatapos pinababalik kami in the afternoon for oath taking . Kadali lang pala. Nagbayad ako $50.00 cash for fee.. mababait ang mga nagwowork sa Philippine Embassy. The Philippine Gov't should REMOVE the LAW mandating the AUTOMATIC LOSS of Filipino citizenship when one becomes a naturalized citizen of another country. Note that foreigners who become naturalized Filipino citizens do NOT automatically lose their original citizenships. Sana, Senator Grace Poe can help to rescind that law.

      This is very ridiculous
      If born outside of Philippines
      Still accepted to be filipino
But those BORN IN THE PHILIPPINES hindi pwede? I hope the government will help those born in Philippines just because naturalized doesn't mean you strip them off being born in the Philippines Philippines

I have been trying to get an on-line appointment at the Philippine Consular office in Los Angeles, it has been 3 years since I initially attempted but no luck to this day. As a Naturalized citizen, my best bet will be availing the Balikbayan privileges just in case I stay a little bit longer. The re-acquisition process (Philippine Citizenship) launch in the Philippines is a pain in the neck (a lot easier done in consular offices). I may just fly back to Guam then return after a couple weeks to gain new admission to the Philippines giving me another one year. No plan to settle in the P.I. for good anyway, so even that is too much of a hassle.

Thank for you Dual Citizenship videos.
I am a natural born Filipino and naturalized US citizen (when by parents become US citizen). Last year, My brother and I became a Dual Citizen after learning the requirements for running a business and owning properties in the Philippines.
I have not been able to find answer to my situation: My US born adult children will also need to apply for Dual Citizenship. How can they apply as adults?
The DC consulate's only advise is to ask the consulate in Pasay City when I travel back in 2024.

Were you a Filipino/ dual citizen at the time of the birth of your children? If not, then your kids are not considered as natural born Filipino. They can't apply for dual citizenship nor do you need to file a Report of Birth.
To be considered as a natural born Filipino, one of the parents must be a Filipino citizen at the time of birth of the child (if child was born after January 1973). If child was born before Jan 1973, different rules apply.

Hi. You can retire in PH as a former Filipino/ balikbayan. If you bring proof of being former Filipino (old PH passport or PSA birth cert), you'll be given 1 year stay in PH. Before that 1 year ends, you'll have to exit the country.
You could also apply for dual citizenship. You can do that in the US (via PH embassy/ consulate) or in PH (via Bureau of Immigration). If you're a dual citizen (and a senior citizen), you'll be eligible for a senior citizen card & some discounts.
If you don't want to be a dual citizen, you can apply for 13G visa to become a permanent resident. This is done via the Bureau of Immigration in PH.

Hi.

I was born in 1967 in Oakland, California and my dad was a Philippine Scout during WWII and came to America in 1950 and received US citizen and my mom was only a green card holder in the states. I am a natural born US citizen and my parents have already died. Can I still be a duel citizen since I already reached the age of majority?

    • @kitty_s23456
      @kitty_s23456 9 месяцев назад

Hi. For your case, it's a NO, since you were born before 1973 and your dad was a US citizen at that time. For those born before 1973, it must be the father who is the PH citizen (if it's a mixed race/ nationality marriage). You are not considered as a natural born Filipino due to that law (before / after 1973).
As an alternative, ask the PH consulate if you are eligible for a 13G visa (permanent residence for former Filipinos) if you want to live/ retire in PH.

There are many advantages of having dual citizenship in the Philippines. In addition to your other country of nationality, you'll be able to travel and live in the Philippines freely. You'll also have the same rights as Filipino citizens such as the right to work, do business, and buy property. The disadvantages Double Taxation
For individuals who are dual citizens of the U.S. and another country, the U.S. imposes taxes on its citizens for income earned anywhere in the world.
If you are living in your country of dual residence that is not the U.S., you may owe taxes both to the U.S. government and to the country where the income was earned.
Nabasa ko lang po sa google. 😀 😊

13A is a visa based on marriage to you (a Filipino or dual citizen). Kailangan nya mag report yearly (around January) sa Immigration during the annual report for foreigners. I suggest that when he does the annual report, ask the Immigration Officer if he can still continue to be on the 13A if the Filipino spouse predeceases the foreigner husband. (kung mauna ka mamatay sa kanya)
If he will not be allowed to keep renewing his 13A, an alternative would be to apply for the SRRV (retirement visa) but that involves a monetary deposit in PH bank. The amount of the deposit depends on which type of SRRV he qualifies for.

If his birth certificate is not registered in the PSA, he'll have to travel to the town where he was born to fix his birth record. He'll have to make an Affidavit. (This is a semi-common problem for those who were born in the provinces and many decades ago, when records were not yet computerized.)
You can ask your nearby PH consulate if they'll accept marriage certificate in lieu of BC. For most websites, I've seen that they require PSA birth certificate for dual citizenship application.
