    As an artist myself, I get the "deeper meaning" thing. But at the same time it is so insulting to the people who have spent years even decades of their lives perfecting their craft and get paid peanuts when people probably spent ten minutes on that and it sells for that much. The line for me is simply taping a banana to a canvas with duct tape and calling it art and selling it for that price. That's just offensive.

    • @magnuskallas
      @magnuskallas 2 года назад +1

      It kind of goes both ways. In whole reality originality and soul alone is rather attractive by somewhat primeval instinct. So, mastering the craft of "arts" can lead to dead end. I've toyed with amateur arts (graphic design professionally) my whole life and the more I study the craft, the more lost I feel... So I do indeed occasionally think inside the box, a bottle of wine, and nasty 15 minutes! But these are my nasty 15 minutes. The fakes try to sell their expressionistic contemporary junk as their "15 minutes of privacy" when it's a fabricated lie.

      Exactly. Because this whole paintings going for tens of millions is actually a recent phenomena. Within the last twenty years. Before then, paintings went for a fraction of that and the artists that did sell were historically famous like Leonardo or Picasso. Then sometime around the early 00's, you had this up swing of people selling and buying modern art at ridiculous prices coming from out of seemingly no where. Art from people who were only famous within the art circles. The only answer to this had to be money laundering.

    1: a poetry book that has a lot of meaning put into it being sold for 22.99$
    2: a blue and yellow canvas that had no effort being put into it also having a lot of "DEEP" meaning in it being sold for 5M
    which one would the population buy? the 2nd one. (even as someone who makes poems themselves, the painting means nothing to me.)

    Art is something which awakes peoples imotions,art is something which is understandable , appealing and satisfying to most of the people wheather its visually, through sound, touch, movement,etc. Art is something, when people look at it they are able to see the artist's efforts. Art should make people think "Oh man.. i wish i could do that its so cool", " I wanna do it! "
    It shows in history that art was never meant to awoke negative feelings,confused and weird feelings among people.

    A popular painter draws a white line on a blue canvas and gets million. If a normal person would do the exact same, would it get that much? No.
    Thats the reason why those prices are just dumb imo. It depends on who did it and not what it is.

    Mark Rothko's paintings are all about having an experience in front of the canvas.
    Also, whenever an artist sticks out from the rest and makes something totally original (like Picasso for example with his cubism) they get sold for a lot of money, these paintings you showed are new and original so that's really the best answer I can give.
    Another answer is the name of the painting that could have a deeper meaning which can sell for more because it is more poetic
    And also the artist could be famous and have a reputation for making these absurd paintings.
    Does that explain it?

    The expression and the emotion of the artist is what matters. And ppl who judge a work of art by its variation and complexity end up making such videos. These artists put their feelings on canvas and they know what they're trying to say. They are not selling their art, they're selling their name. Ppl buy even the simplest of their works just to own a fragment of the artist's mind. Pls don't confuse selling their name with the quality of their art. Most of these so called simple paintings are sold for an exorbitant amount because it was made by a renowned artist. And if you do not understand the abstraction of an artist's work, either go educate yourself or just don't look at it because the beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

    Modernism, and postmodernism is about shaking up the conventional norm in the classical art world, resulting in more connections mainly through emotion, and just relying on a structural design to make an opinion. I’m not a fan of this medium, but I do have an understanding/appreciation for the style. I’m currently studying for my Bachelors in fine arts. I recommend looking up Canadian artist Kent Monkman. He’s a contemporary artist who works in neoclassical, pop culture, and interpretivism.
