I own a DRS1 and the older it gets the better it sounds. The “2” top is brighter but that is why in my opinion spruce has that spanky tone. Both are wonderful guitars and terrific values
I've got a DRS1 with Nashville Tuning/Highstrung Tuning strings on it which is very interesting combination since the guitar is very warm with a lot of low mids but the higher sounding strings brighten it up. I'm picking up a Taylor 110 this weekend which is obviously brighter but will have regular strings on it and I think they will make a nice combination. We'll see!
@@CandyflossCottonCandy before you buy try cort gold 06 and 08 and then try drs / d10e sapele and sitka you're going to understand i think this chanel do lilbit toning record. i get the sitka, even compare to d18 that time i try. well this just guitar starter because i was off from music about 10 year maybe next year i gonna get d18 28 hd28 or d35 depend on the time i try em.
The one thing I've found if you struggle between 2 guitars but like them both .. pick the one that plays better or looks better.. whichever is more likely to get you to pick it up.. with sound... you'll never have the other sitting there to compare it to .. so it won't be an issue.. the only problem is if you're sitting with both at once.. that is.. if you're picking between 2 that both sound great but different from eachother.. they're like women.. you can always be looking for the next best one but in the end they all have different positives and negatives so just don't compare.. be happy you have one that you can put your hands on.
Been listening to drs1 and drs2 videos for past 1 week now. My epiphone aj 220sc just broke so was looking for a new a new guitar and am intrigued by Martin. Just the perfect upload for the situation! Your playing is awesome. You bring out the best in a guitar. Would love your personal opinion on drs1 vs drs2. Also on the x series namely dxk2ae since it is quite less in price than drs1/2 but is an hpl. Looking for a response, thanks.
The DRS-1 and 2 models have been replaced with the “D-10E Sapele” and the D-10E respectively. Basically, you get more aesthetics with a mother of pearl rosette and inlays, a slightly improved pickup system with a built in sound hole tune, and a heavy padded gig bag. In return, you lose the hard shell case.
The devil made me do it!!!! I already owned the DRS! But yesterday I bought the DRS2. Why would anyone buy 2 guitar models that sound so much alike? To combine to trade for a D18? Local shop manager said he's ok with that kinda trade. Nope! I just like both Road Series guys. I traded in a couple of also rans on the DRS2.Icaro Costa. I couldn't make the choice so I own BOTH!!!
The drs2 just seems to ring so much it almost muddys up if you're strumming not picking.. like using a slight delay.. it almost gets in the way of the next chord
Dishonest people would always say they love the drs1 for being warmer and sounds better. Stop fooling yourself. Please be honest and admit that drs2 sounds way better. Too many liars in here.
@@kennethlaird1431 The neck is solid Sapele. The fretboard is richlite. Had mine for seven years plays like a dream the sound is incredible I would definitely buy it again

Somehow by hook or crook I've acquired both the DR S 1 and 2 guitars.

Personally would choose the mahogany DRS1 with the warmer tone to accompany singing. DRS2 for standalone work.
