Hey man, Thank you again for doing another in-depth welded diff. Means a lot to me that you and your friend made another video when I asked. Keep delivering all the Volvo content! Lots of Volvo love!
The differential was welded on the 940 wagon when I bought it, alot of fun! For two whole weeks, then the pinion shaft/bearing? just said enough, where the kardan axle connect to the rear axle. Could drive it but made the worst sound I've ever heard, so now it has a unwelded diff, still alot of fun to drive tho with it's 220~ ish horsepower on 0.9bar boost.
Preheating oil soaked parts cooks all the oil off of the parts and you get slightly better penetration. Also with the welder ground on the axle tube your running your grounding current thorough the bearings and that's very hard on the bearings. Otherwise awesome video once again! Probably my favorite intro line yet too haha
Drilling driveshafts 13Cm deep with 10mm drill makes your driveshafts stronger. With welded diff it makes a huge difference. I got B5234T motor, wiseco pistons, sinter glutch, ZF gearbox, 60TB turbina, 700hp, 600 whp, 800Nm. I know what i'm talking about sir its not a myth its facts. Just trying to help here. In drifting it helps your driveshafts flex and not brake when hitting pumps and dropping glutch from high RPM. I got my information to do so from V12 740 volvo guy from Sweden with serious torgue numbers. He sais drill 10-15cm deep, 10-12mm drill. Pass the information to buddies so we won't brake all of the oldchool driveshafts from Volvo's too quickly.
Damn dude thats really cool i definately never thought of that. Youre talking about axel shafts though and not driveshaft correct ? Will have to give that a go on one of my cars
@@driftsnlifts Yes axel shafts. Also I would recommend to get multiple drills. Sharpen your drill very often and use drilling grease so you won't consume too much time doing it. With hand-drill-tool get your buddy sit next to you guiding to drill in lower or higher angle while you look at the left to righ angle of the drill. This way your drilling goes straigh into axel shafts.
These videos are getting too professional for me. What happened to that guy who went street drifting at night after hitting the bong? #hewillleavetobeontv
Hahaha fuck hes still here but after having a cop talk to me saying he was investigating my youtube channel and making a deal with him that if i didnt street drift anymore hed leave me be . I had to smarten up some , trust me if i could still street id be busting out the most badass volvo street vids the world has ever seen
Really nice. I would otherwise do that to my 740 but here in finland, it probably wouldnt pass the inspection. Which aftermarket locker would you recommend? (aftermarket ones will pass the inspection, if you have proof of it not being welded.) Rather be a 100% locking diff, and not too expensive. If anyone here has an idea, let me know! Appreciate it. Love your videos man.
If youre looking for a cheap, simple aftermarket locker i recommend a Spartan locker. Ive had the same diff in 2 cars over the past 2 years. Still locks hard and is reliable

Wanted to try this but I sold my 760 a few months ago so I just went into my neighbors garage at night and welded the diff on my neighbors 740 while he was sleeping.
Never weld a diff with mma or mag in place in axlehouse,a lot of slag and flying metalparts will destroy your work soon, Gears dont like eat metal and slag. Take it out before or use tigweld .(No sparks or slag)

Dennis Magnedal thanks! I’m buying a wagon and was gonna but I’m using it as a daily so I don’t think it’s the best idea
Those welds sound like sizzling bacon. It’s perfect!

@@driftsnlifts translated to the scandinavian languages driveshafts are axle shafts :) our driveshaft is called a Kardan shaft

What side needs to be drilled?
@@nicovanduin1553 The diff side, since it's closest to engine torque.
Will do a dedicated burnout when I finish my B230FT swap 242
Definitely good call on the NON chlorinated brake cleaner👍

Aleksis Ojala here in Sweden the 740 will pass the inspection with a welded diff

Thanks brother ill keep em comming as good as i can
We just did this on one of our S14s, gotta do it on our other one though... Great video! Gives us motivation to get it done !!(:
Weld all the diffs ! Thanks for watching my man
thanks from sweden
Weld 2 plates in between the spider gears

Hahah . Hmm why is the tire chirping when i turn.. whoa why did it drift so easily !
Haha! I saw his neighbors reaction in my head just like you wrote it!
Drifts N' Lifts i bought a 1995 940 wagon and I might weld the dif for winter to drift. But is that a good idea if I want to use it as a daily driver?

Reel big fish ftw!
I PAID DOUBLE. Jk the 740/940 parts from ipd are badass
isnt it just easier to get a aussi locker?
What diff oil should you use if you have a g80?
Same thing applies. Pretty much anything. I used 75-80 or 85-90 i think
its same for the 940s if they have a solid axel
Very true i changed the title to include 940 as its pretty much the same car. Thanks

You shouldn't put the ground on the outer tube of the axle. Because the welding current will pass through your bearings. Anyway good video otherwise.
0:22 how many people will get pissed off by this. 😂😂
Issa joke guys dont hate me plz! Hahah
A welded diff is real fun but a welded diff are a broken diff...
69th like! YES
