    My favourite Triggerism.
Trig has been talking to Rodney in the Nag's Head, about names for his new baby. Rodney told him, if it's a girl, it's going to be called "Sigourney" and if it's a boy, it;s going to be named after him.
So Trig goes to Mike at the bar to tell him all about it.
Trigger:- "So if it's a girl, it's gonna be called Sigourney, after some actress. And if it's a boy, it's gonna be called Rodney... after Dave".
EVERY SINGLE TIME, I hear that line, I just belly laugh... perfect scripts, perfect cast...perfect everything.

FUN FACT: Roger Lloyd Pack, playing Trigger was not meant to be in this scene. He was filming the Vicar of Dibley in a nearby studio and had some spare time, so went to see what his buddies were doing. He chatted with Richard Curtis and David Jason about the scene and Hey presto....his appearance in this.

    • @Perfect_Rice
      @Perfect_Rice 2 года назад

They must have been working on the Vicar of Dibley for a very, very long time then. This episode of Only Fools of Horses was broadcast on 08/01/1989 and the first episode of the Vicar of Dibley wasn't on until 10/11/1994. I find it hard to believe they'd have been filming it over five and a half years before broadcast.

@@Perfect_Rice Ok, facts checked and this from IMDB OFAH trivia.
"Trigger" (Roger Lloyd Pack) was not in the wine bar scene, originally. Lloyd Pack was rehearsing for another tv series in the same building as OFAH and wandered into their rehearsal room during a break, to say "hello". He told John Sullivan he was free if he needed him for anything and Sullivan immediately wrote Trigger into the scene".
So he was filming SOMETHING nearby.. but I agree it could not have been TVOD.
Around about that time, he was filming a number of episodes of different things, but without extensive research, it would be hard to pin one of them down.

Comic genius. They just don't make them like this anymore. But I must admit, Peter Kay comes close.

Didn't really find it that funny, to be honest. If that were me, I would just pick myself up and talk to the birds.
The chandelier scene though was funny. Or the save the whales clip.

This has been milked to death and no longer funny seeing we always know every time what’s gonna happen.
The real funny part of this scene is trigger and the pork pie.

Any mention of the show and they play this clip. I'm only thirty and I've seen it an unholy amount of times. I can't imagine how many times people who were my age when it first aired have seen it.

@@DomWeasel and it’s not a very convincing fall anyway after all David Jason knew their was a crash mat in the floor so just fell over.
If your going to fall your standard natural body reaction is to put your hands out to stop you.

@@CricketEngland But Mr Delboy did not know he was going to fall, Sir. He would not put his hands out as he thought he was going to lean on the bar top. You might say that when an adult human male leans more than 20 degrees, they will automatically put their hands out to break their fall which is now surely inevitable . Wrong, Sir. You are forgetting one important factor. Mr Delboy had spent the afternoon in the "trendy wine bar". He may be three sheets to the wind, as they say in my country, thereby his instinctive reactions may be impacted by the consumption of alcohol. Thank you.

@@jeffrey44 it doesn’t matter what your going to do your reaction is always to put your hands out….
You try and fall like David did and try not to put yours hand out your body won’t be able to stop you from doing it…

@@CricketEngland To attempt to fall like David (Jason) did is not a valid experiment. David (Jason) fell knowing there was a crash mat waiting to receive him and as Trigger explained explained on BBC Breakfast, he had also rehearsed it (If you remember, Trigger also said he was shit scared that he would mess it up).
The experiment would need to be an attempt to fall like Derek Boy (Delboy).
To conduct the experiment, the subject would need to be at least 'tipsy", holding a wine glass and unaware the bar had been moved prior to the instruction being given to lean on it.
I'm not sure if this experiment would pass modern ethical review. I will not be conducting it on this occasion, sorry.
