To save anyone else googling! "The Ship of Theseus" is a thought-provoking philosophical paradox and a famous topic of discussion in metaphysics. It raises questions about identity and change. The paradox goes like this:
Imagine a ship, known as the Ship of Theseus, that over time has had all of its wooden parts replaced with new ones. Eventually, every single part of the ship has been replaced. Is it still the same ship, or has it become a completely different entity?

Without a doubt one of the most iconic sketches in British comedy history. Right up there with Four Candles and the Dead Parrot sketch. Trigger called Rodney Dave for over 20 years and it never got tired. The quality of the physical acting is also at the highest level. Roger Lloyd-Pack could say more with an expression than most actors with a line of dialogue. Same of course with Del Boy falling through the bar. If you look back through the greatest British comedy shows it's often the physical acting that stands out. John Cleese in Fawlty Towers, Rowan Atkinson in Blackadder, Joanna Lumley in Ab Fab, Fry and Laurie in Jeeves and Wooster. You can watch any of these sketches a thousand times and they never get old. RIP Roger.

The backstory behind Trigger constantly calling Rodney Dave is as follows: It was never meant for Trigger. However, Roger Lloyd Pack in his early days suffered from rare mental condition that kept him forgetting names of characters around him. At first it really was Lloyd Pack unintentionally doing that, but in time his condition has improved. But, since Dave thing was simply perfect for Trigger, it was simply kept afterwards. In the first episode of the show, when Trigger and Rodney appear together for the first time, Trigger calling Rodney Dave was actually an ad lib by Lloyd Pack. This was confirmed by John Sullivan and Lloyd Pack.

This and the one where they go on a trip to the seaside in a coach and it breaks down and they say along the lines of “how are we going to get there now” and trig says to hitchhike... “but there’s 27! Of us trig”

Wow, hadn't seen this for years and my memory of it was a very short scene with few lines.
However there are lots of good lines and the buildup to the punchline is slowly but brilliantly paced.
It shows what a fantastic cast of actors they had .Just wonder if David Jasons reaction to the punchline is him losing it or not,
    that's how great he is!
