I started playing 16 months ago and the first driver that worked for me was a new DX Viking. I got a pile of used beat-up discs from a kid and there was a DX Viking and a DX Valkyrie in the mix. I thought the Valk was interesting so I got a new one. A few months later I think I managed to buy the last three champion Vikings in North America and I also got a couple Champ Valks and what might be the replacement disc for the Viking, a Pro Savant and a Halo Savant. Anyhow, I was working on my form and within a month I went from getting that S-turn flat release flight, to must hyzer-flip or they turn over, flights from all of them. Sometimes it works to evolve your throw with the discs.
First disc I bought was a DX Valk as well! Was very dismayed when on one of my first throws it landed on the asphalt and got a big nick. Still took me a long time to figure out that there were other plastics. ETA: Don't give up on the Halo Valk. It will be a great disc for a whole lot longer than the DX Valk will. Just break it in some more and it'll probably be one of your favorite discs in your bag.
You almost hyzer flipped that dx into the river! 👍I've bought new disc that I was disappointed in too. Maybe after they beat in or when I get my form and timing down I'll like them. I just use them for field work now. I have gotten some bomber flights out of them just not very often. Just found your channel! Have a Blessed New Year!
I had another DX Valkyrie given to me and it looked exactly the same. Funny, I never have thrown it and I sent it into the edge of a pond at AGA Farms. I was thinking it would flex out like the one in this video and it didn't....lol!! Now it is swimming with the fish. The video will be uploaded next week..... You as well, have a blessed new year!
I have 2 Valkyrie's in the DX plastic and love they way they feel and fly. I did buy one later in a premium plastic (as well as a Beast) and they are both way more over stable than the DX plastic.
A lot of people like to throw one mold in different plastics because the disc flys differently in each plastic type. The Valkyrie is a great disc for that as the DX is way more understandable compared to the premium plastics being more overstable..... A guy on our crew (Shane) throws a Beast and he has one in DX and then I gave him a Champion, Beast. They both fly so differently and compliment each other nicely.
Same mold but different plastics. While the plastic cools after being injected into the mold, it contracts. The cheaper plastic contracts more, becoming domier and more understable. Premium plastic contracts less in comparison and is more overstable.
I am a fan of the Pro Valkyrie, seems like a nice compromise between the DX nd Halo/Star plastics. Plus I really like the classic stamps on the Pro plastics
Aaron I mention this to you a while back, but when you get a chance take both of those Valkyries and place them on your kitchen countertop touching nose to nose👍. Now crouch down until to your eye is now eye level with the countertop / discs, take notice how the Halo Valkyrie wing is a 1/64 to 1/32 higher than the DX Valkyrie. Now to be clear here I'm taking about the nose of the disc only (not the overall height of the disc) it's called the PLH aka (parting line height) basically where the top and bottom parts of the mold come together and sometimes leave flashing or a slight protrusion or white line behind. In simple terms most DX wide rim drivers suffer from a saggy wing😁 this happens in the cool-down stage when the plastic is still somewhat soft. Basically you can think of it as premium plastic takes a little blue pill that prevents a saggy wing otherwise resulting in a understable flight 😆🤣. But seriously very small differences in wing height with the same disc in different plastics make huge huge differences in flight ✌️.
@@chainraiderdiscgolf I think they should do adjustments on all the different plastics, however it's not really that simple, especially with Pro and DX plastic's. Those two plastics in particular can mold up considerably different from one batch to the next 👍. Star and Champion plastics tend to be more consistent from one run to the next but that's not always the case. Innova has already assigned different flight numbers with some of models but only on a few I believe. For example the Tern in Star, Eco-Star and Pro plastic is rated a 12/6/-3/2 and the Champion plastic it's rated 12/6/-2/2. The Innova Champion Shryke is another example it's labeled a 13/6/-2/-2, and in Pro and G-Star plastic it's printed a 13/6/-3/2. I can't remember the Star rating for the Shryke offhand 🤔 I think it's a -3 turn also if I remember correctly. The only way the truly 100% prevent inconsistencies would be astronomically expensive for a manufacturer. The best solution would be to leave the disc in the mold for the curing process until room-temperature is achieved. However that would tie up a $20,000 mold up for several hours. As far as I know Innova still uses U.S. made molds which are absurdly expensive at around $20,000 each. I suppose you can have dozens of molds made in Taipei for around $2500 to $5000 each and have them sitting idle during a curing process. But you're not really saving anyting because of the amount of cycle from a mold made in Taipei isn't even close to a USA made mold. Every hot cold cycle, takes life off of that mold life, so by allowing a disc to set up isn't cost-effective and it's just sitting there not making units. By not keeping that mold at operating temperature you're shorting yourself of its life expectancy. Right now the Latitude 64 and the new Discmania factory have achieved the closest thing to a consistent perfect product.
@@flipflat4814 So all in all, this is why so many love getting a new disc, to see how they actually fly. Especially when compared to the flight ratings... You have a lot of knowledge in this area, you should do a video about it.... By the way, I love your play lists!!
Thanks bro, again halo does things to make those numbers harder to get . U have to push those numbers into it and maybe it's gana do it. . Dx was perfect example of the flight numbers. So getting a val is harder in halo to justify. It's the tbirds that are more interesting as they are enjoying the halo treatment to the sable side...... I don't know how halo would be good on the older val .mold . A wombat 3 halo is going to be fun to see that one do it's thing and beat in. Or a Maco 3 halo.. I want those asap.....
Hey Aaron, like you I started out with 3 discs. A friend gave me a Sonic, a Buzzz, and an Xpress (very much like a Leopard) and I threw with just those 3 for a month or two. I also agree with you that the Valkyrie and drivers with a rim of 1.9cm or shorter to be fairway driver territory. Innova seems to think all their 9 speed discs are distance, but I'd say they're fairway, or at best "hybrid."
@@chainraiderdiscgolf Unfortunately that was the first disc I ever lost. Threw it in a pond, and couldn't recover it. I ended up buying a Mako3 shortly after, and stuck with that ever since. That said, my friend Mike has some, and I've thrown them, and they're almost exactly like a Mako3. The SS is a little less stable, the regular Buzzz might be a tiny bit more stable than a Mako3. There's also an OS version that I imagine is more like a Roc3 or RocX3. I don't think I've thrown one of those.
@@NickCarroll I also have a Mako3. That disc is a laser beam until you throw it into a headwind. Then that disc wants to turn right with the quickness.
@@chainraiderdiscgolf Yeah even though mine is max weight, star plastic, and not used a lot, hasn't hardly hit any trees - it's more flippy than I think it should be. That said, if I hit the right angle with it (and not in a headwind), it's my farthest flying midrange.
I had a beat up DX valk years ago and I hated it. I recently bought a gstar Valk and I am excited to try it out. I have it but it is too cold out for me to be playing. I need to move south for my dg addiction. I think the halos are just more overstable. I think you really have to put a lot of speed into them or throw them into a headwind to make the most out of them
Today it was in the 50s but that is changing come tomorrow. It can get cold here in the winter and that makes for rough disc golf playing..... Yeah it is harder to get that S line flight out of the Star plastic but once it beats in they fly very nicely.
It’s tough to get the halo plastic to turn I’ve noticed. My Gstar shryke turns all the way over real easy, but my halo shryke at full power barely dips to the right then fades very quickly
The Halo plastic is so freaking durable. It is worth the price paid per disc unless you lose it. If a person loses a lot of discs I'd probably would stay away from Halo...lol!!
Joe, if I was to bag this great disc again it would definitely be in Star plastic and maybe even a DX mold also for those easy turnover shots....But as you commented, I've got that Underworld...LOL!!
It is a great disc, don't get me wrong. Myself and others think that Innova needs to reevaluate their flight ratings. No way does the DX have the same rating as the Halo.
@@chainraiderdiscgolf I have a dx leopard and a champion leopard and those 2 discs could not be more different. Literally, the dx is the most understable disc I own and the champion is one of the most overstable discs I own. I prefer discs from Latitude 64 where the plastic is super consistent and durable and the discs fly very true to the flight numbers.
@@brianbarber7285 The number of Innova discs in my bag are down to three. Depending on the course only two. I now throw more of the Trilogy brands and Discmania.
Sooo this could be why I’m struggling so hard with my Halo Mystere! My DX Valkyrie being 9/4/-2/2 and Mystere is 11/6/-2/2 and my valk just S turns Soo easily and my Mystere is unreal hard to get any overturn on it. I literally have to put it on Anni to get any juice to it.
Yeah those Halo discs tend to be very stable. Try sticking it in the dryer with some cloths for about 8 minutes and then flex the disc downward, going around the whole disc. Then lay it on a flat surface for a little while and hopefully that will give it a beaten in flight. I did a video on here about a year ago explaining how to do it.
Thanks and a Happy New Year to you as well! I have had a lot of people tell me to try out Legacy and I still haven't. All I hear is good things about them... I will have to get that disc on my next order.
I like the old DX plastic -vs- the newer version. To me they feel cheaper now and don’t fly as nice. That’s what matters to me most, because if a cheaper plastic disc flys better for me than a premium plastic, you better believe I’m buying the cheaper one and not the other. Or, in many cases, when I find a disc mild I like, I just buy that disc in a few different plastics.
I have a Halo Wraith and let me tell you I HATED it at first . I'm fairly new to the sport so back when I bought it I thought it might fly like the Pro plastic one I threw, well just like your video it was total opposite. My first throw might as well been with a Ballista because that thing took off to the right like it was nobodies business haha. Im left handed by the way. I even tried anhyzers to try and force it to flex but it barely did anything. But I paid $25 for the damned thing so I was determined to figure it out so I started beating it in by throwing it straight into the ground and even putting it in the dryer for 5 minutes at a time and bending it around and trying to speed up the process .It helped and definitely made a nice difference. My arm speed still isn't that great but if I put some anhyzer on it it does flex and I can control it most of the time as long as the wind isnt crazy. If there is wind I dont even take it out of my bag. With all that said I dont think I will be buying anymore Halo discs, or really anymore plastics comparable like Opto or Champion because for some reason I can only control a few discs in those plastics. I have come to prefer plastics like ESP, Fuzion ,Royal , etc. etc. simply because they seem to fly just right straight off the shelf and I feel much more control with them . The stability of those plastics seems much stronger and wont go nuts over a simple gust of wind . Maybe when I start throwing with more velocity I will revisit all the discs Ive taken out of my bag, but sadly they are nothing but paper weights at this moment lol. I still have my DX Leopard, I love that disc still because it does what I want and when that disc is trash im spending another $9 for a new one haha.
I have two Pro plastic Wraiths and Terns; the Pro plastic is my favorite that Innova makes. It seems to fly true to their flight ratings. Someone commented on here how Innova's flight ratings aren't always true to the disc and plastic type and I would have to agree. I have two Fuzion plastic DD Trespasses and those discs are gold! Out of the box they preformed and there was no need to beat them in.... As you progress and your form and arm speed build you will be able to work certain discs the way they are supposed to fly. Took me awhile to finally get a nice S line flight out of my Star Destroyer. After using it for many different shots it now drifts harder to the right as compared to my new one that I cycled in. Once again though, Innova needs to revisit their flight ratings based off of the average player in my opinion. DX plastic is way different than Halo plastic and maybe they should adjust their numbers.... Bang for the buck yeah, $9 isn't bad at all for a disc that works for you. I can handle losing a disc when I paid $9 for it compared to $35.
Absolutely agree about the flight ratings of certain plastics and its a problem with all companies . They really need to update that because in a sense its false advertisement when you think about it. For instance I have 2 Ballistas , one came in a starter pack I bought and its just the basic retro plastic, the other I bought is an opto version . Now I know a beginner with a Ballista makes little sense, BUT I use them for a very specific purpose for those shots that bend hardcore to the right around trees or other obstacles and are not that far in total distance. Literally all I do is throw them flat and they do the work and its perfect for me as far as that . With that said I can actually get my retro Ballista to flex with anhyzer , its not a totally great shot but I can still get it out there. Now with the Opto Ballista I feel like i need to put every ounce of my body into the throw and it will hardly stay any kind of straight with anhyzer and it will immediately still go hard right . My go to drivers are my Fuzion Escape and my new Royal Grace . The flights on those are just beautiful and are so dependable and consistent . The Fuzion alone really improved my game and helped me better my form and understand hyzer flips. I also have a Lucid Air Escape but again the flight is seriously different from the Fuzion. My Fuzion i can get some great S line flights and I FINALLY threw a 350ft shot with it. My Lucid Air Escape I use only when I need a hard turnover , I can almost throw a backhand roller with it without having to do much lol. So yes extreme different flight characteristics. I may not be able to throw far but I absolutely love this game, its so much fun and challenging. Eventually ill get better arm speed, I notice I get better when I aim for consistency . I quit trying to muscle my discs down the fairway and learning to just let them fly. Work in progress lol.
Oh and I forgot to mention my Gstar Daedelu and Katana. My friend gave them to me already beat in pretty good and I made them part of my bag immediately . Both are a little faster of a disc than I should be throwing, but when I can give them a good rip they are just as good as my Fuzion Escape and the Grace . Still learning them but I do like using them on big open shots. Good S lines with both , just gotta work on consistency .
@@JAK1981 Look into getting some overstable midranges. That way you get that hard right turn and don't have to worry about the disc carrying to much speed. I did a video titled, Overstable Midranges and I bag both of those discs..... Do you throw putters? My game changed once I started doing that and practicing with them to gain consistency and control in my throws. Now I find myself throwing many putter shots during the round.
@@chainraiderdiscgolf I have one overstable midrange I like a lot, its a Kaxe Z and it turns right hard for me. It says "straight midrange driver" on the disc but thats a load of bullcrap haha. My other midranges I use are a Buzz Z and ESP , along with my Royal Trust . Ill check out your other video and perhaps give those midranges a shot, never hurts to try. I do play a lot with my putters, I use 2 putters (Gateway Voodoo SS and a Retro Judge) . I like that super soft voodoo because it snatches the chains and sticks to the ground. My judge I use a lot as a short to midrange disc more than anything. I have done putter only rounds on more open courses and yes that helps a ton .
Without exception, I can get DX plastics to fly better, and do what they are supposed to do, MUCH better than the other plastics. The Star and Champion plastic discs I have are so frustrating. Only exception is the star Mako3 that I have which goes wherever I point it.
The DX discs "do what they are supposed to do", but for how long? Once beat in, they also fly nothing like the Flight Numbers. Check out the "dryer trick" on YT if you are impatient and want to break in your discs a little faster. I haven't personally tried it, but I think it works!
@@3chrizzl Funny you commented this. Two nights ago I tried the dryer trick to see if it really works and I uploaded the video here on the channel. I will be throwing both discs today to see how the one Corvette, which was in the dryer compares to the one that wasn't.
It's the plastic. You shouldn't judge a disc by its numbers, I found that halo star is far more overstable than DX or even star plastic. That's why I keep a champion shryke, halo, and star cause I use each of them in different situations.
Man I kinda like my dx Valkyrie. Seems like I have to really juice it out to get it to fly good though, Which is my only quarrel because I can barely punch a star thunderbolt and it'll just gooooo. I do keep mine in my bag. For when I wanna try something new and won't care to lose a disc trying haha.
Someone gave me a DX Valkyrie that they found on a ball golf course. I bagged it for that exact reason, a water carry disc that I didn't care about..... Yup, that disc is down deep. 😆🤣
Gotta beat in the star plastic the right way then it is very reliable for flip to flat straight finish. Also will still try to come out of a flex shot.
Took a while but now my Star Destroyer is nicely seasoned and has a very nice S flight to it. I cycled another one in and all it does is go straight and then fade left. I'm gonna have to get more time with the Valk and get it beaten in.
@@chainraiderdiscgolf you should take the time to work it in. I have used a star Valkyrie for over 10 years. I keep a seasoned one and a newer/stable one. The seasoned one is a great disc for low lasers, long slow hyzers and turnovers. The newer one can be torqued hard for very long hyzer flips or anny with a straight finish and slower flex lines.
This is why I think buying used discs is so underrated for players that don't play several days a week. We have an auction at my local club for lost discs that has not been claimed within 6 months. Many of my best drivers come from that auction.
What you are experiencing is amateur ability with professional quality equipment. You buying and playing Halo plastic for $25 to $30 a disc is equivalent to buying an Official NFL football for $100 to play catch in the backyard. These are the discs used by professional athletes. DX and Pro plastics are a great fit for the recreational player. The DX flies better for you because it is better suited for your ability. The video was a great demonstration of this. Keep up the good content.
I agree with everything you said (great comment) but a clarification to your NFL ball comparison. I agree that Halo plastic is not very helpful for a beginner, sure, but that's not true for Champion, Star or GStar just to be clear even though they are more expensive. I would rather recommend a Star Sidewinder over a DX Valkyrie to a beginner if money is not a huge concern since most players (beginners and pros) prefer their throwing discs in premium plastic and it'll stay consistent for much longer... Or actually I would recommend something like a Manta but you get the point. With that addition I think your comment summed up all my thoughts as well ⭐
The equivalent to buying a football to play in the yard is were you lost me. The football will still fly one certain way.were as in discgolf plastics are made for certain shots in certain locations. Discgolf is a game of choice i kno plenty of pros that can beat other pros using dx plastic
@@sanjuanpapi3677 I interpreted the point to be: An amateur will not benefit from the quality attributes an NFL ball or halo plastic provides, which I agree with. Obviously an amateur can still appreciate throwing halo plastic or an NFL ball since it's kinda special things but appreciate ≠ benefit.
That's exactly what should have happened all dx plastic is flippy and all halo is overstable like throwing a putter against a driver and saying the driver won putters are junk
@@chainraiderdiscgolf Lol I know they do that was me agreeing with you. They have a couple other 9 speeds that they do the same with. It's even funnier that other companies who sell the Valkyrie like infinite discs and OTB refer to it as a fairway/control driver.
Also had a similar experience with the dx versus star valk. Out of the box the star was way more overstable than the beat up dx is. After lending the star Valk to a friend for a few months I got it back. I can now hit those hyzer flip lines with the slightly beaten in star Valk and its replaced the dx in my quiver. I think progressing in the sport has helped too. More spin and higher velocity throws might also play a role in the flight as the dx now just wants to dump to the right on me. (Right handed back hand). Many factors at play I believe.
Absolutely! Once you progress and get the arm speed needed for certain discs they start flying totally different. You are so correct, many factors are at play/work.
That's why I don't play Innova discs. I really don't mind their DX plastic at least the number system works with them but anything in champion and star plastic pretty much you throw it and it bails to the left all that plastic is too overstable. That's why I play dynamic disc / latitude 64/westside disc. You could actually get some halfway decent understable disc for good flex shots.
I really love Latitude 64 discs. The plastic is both durable and true to the flight numbers. Innova discs are all over the place with their different plastics which make the flight numbers meaningless.
Love my Halo Valk... yes it's way more overstable than the DX but duh. The problem with cheap plastic is that it changes too fast. One week it flys great then in a few weeks or months, it's too flippy. My halo plastic is still overstable a year later. Consistent solid plastic.
There is a guy that we hit the course with and he usually only throws one disc. He has been throwing a DX Katana for months and that disc looks like a bear was chewing on it and then left it on a freeway. That disc is so unpredictable now.
@@chainraiderdiscgolf yeah some people love those massively beat in discs. I've got so many new discs, I'll never beat them in even playing 5-6 rounds a week 🤣

You are comparing apples to oranges here, I know that it is misleading with the numbers being the same, but anyone with experience knows premium plastics are far more over stable than dx/budget plastics. This video just comes off as an inexperienced hot take
Its an awesome video. And can show people what frisbee they should be throwing with to gain traction in the sport if throwing dx helps their score youd be an idiot not to use them to your advantage
Halo Sidewinders are probably my favorite disc at the moment you should try one. They don't fly anything like the numbers but are just so straight and glidey. Dx stuff is just soooooo flippy compared to any of the other plastic
You don't have the power to throw halo plastic that is the problem. All halo disc's are more overstable I bag a halo model of valkyrie, wraith, and destroyer.
That's not the point though. He was showing how throwing the same rated disc with the same power resulted in two totally different flights. If the two discs have the same flight ratings, they should fly somewhat the same, if thrown with the same power. If he threw with more power the Halo would straighten out but the dx would disappear to the right. Flight numbers should represent this at least to some extent.
Yes, that was exactly what I was doing. Thanks for noticing!..... Innova needs to revisit their flight ratings. Yes, as we know certain molds are more overstable BUT beginners do not know this and this is why they should change up their ratings. That Halo should be 9,4,0,3 in my opinion.
Love the valk but the ratings are so funny to me. DX is more like 9,4,-3,1. Halo looks like like 9,4,0,2. Innova really needs different flight numbers on the different plastics. The star plastic will definitely get more understable as it gets use.
I got a Halo aviar as I have been bagging dx aviars for about 25yrs. What a joke! Not even close to the same flight path and slick as sh*t when wet. New Dx classic aviar flies as the numbers suggest. Flat AF with almost no fade. The dx beats into a slight turn but still flat fade. The Halo seems to have less glide, zero turn and more like a +2 fade. Honestly, it shoudlnt even be called an aviar, as its even noticeably larger in diameter. Maybe after YEARS, a halo aviar would beat into being close to the numbers, but why bother? I dont cycle discs, I buy the flight I want from new. You take time to beat in a disc and then lose it promptly. OR, you beat it in and it quickly goes too far and is useless. Bag the DX and its right from the start. I prefer a wizard BY FAR, if I wanted a slightly overstable putter. A beat wizard flies like a new aviar classic, just a hair less glide. Super soft wizard, dx classic aviar, elevation koi... the big trio from stable to understable. The koi being a ground magnet and fun catch disk, tho miserable when wet and to keep clean. The pure soft, could easily replace the wizard, IF you wanted more distance from the putter.
Innova really needs to redo their flight ratings especially, with the Halo plastic. I'm like you, I putt with a DX Aviar and buy discs to do what they are meant to do immediately. I don't have time to beat in a disc to make it fly the way I want. Three of my good friends throw the Koi and love it, they also putt with it. I did a video on the Interceptor and had a hard time with how floppy that disc is and yeah, they love to hold on to dirt.
@@chainraiderdiscgolf I wont use a floppy koi for inner circle. They bounce off chains and back out if not enough speed. I use it for outter circle and anyhzer approaches. The interceptor is my goto, when Im 100' or so and can't take ground play. It seems to not care if I overthrow it, it only goes so far and then fades/dives hard for me. It replaced the roc for me, on those mid power upshots. The roc (after 20 yrs), seems to be easily overthrown and watch it go bye bye. I've begun to cycle out the beaded discs in my bag. For now, the roc is gone and I use the interceptor or matrix in its place. I also toss the binx, but its more like a 6 speed and flat. Nothing special, but it can take a tree. I didnt have any issue with throwing floppies, but a lot of people do. I think it has to do with how smooth your throw is from the start. If you like to flip the disc or change angle mid swing, the floppies will be your enemy. A lot of flick throwers cant throw a binx for shit, as they like to adjust flight angle mid swing/pull. Im sorry to say this, but to me this just looks like an unfair comparison between a severely beat up DX and a cold fresh halo star by a guy with too little arm speed to fully utilize it. Also your release angles are all over the place.
Arm speed? If he had no arm speed he wouldn't have turned the dx over as much as he did. Let's face it, Innova needs to fix their flight ratings especially in the halo plastic! 9,4,0,3 is more like it.
@@bobbobby2236 Listen guy. A disc will always be more overstable in colder conditions, a fresh disc will also be more overstable, armspeed matters very much if you cant reach the discspeed precondition(think of discspeed as a prerequisite for unlocking the disc’s characteristics, especially any understability). Its not hard to factor all of this in, you’ll play better if you incorporate these factors in your understanding of the game. Discs change gradually as you use them and you cant rely on the flightnumbers for more than just an initial estimate referring to the mold…
The dx will beat in within a year and always turn over. Halo plastic is Innova's most stable and longest lasting plastic next to champion. Dx disc come already beat in. The halo disc is brand new so it's going to be over stable. I own the exact same disc. After it beats in it'll be more characteristic of the flight numbers.
Nice vid. Solid throws !
Thanks, greatly appreciated!
i wish the would put the stamp from the DX version on all of the Valkyries
Yup, or make something similar so it stands out.
its labeled distance because thats the OG stamp and at the time would have been the fastest discs were
Same mold but different plastics. While the plastic cools after being injected into the mold, it contracts. The cheaper plastic contracts more, becoming domier and more understable. Premium plastic contracts less in comparison and is more overstable.
That orange halo is sick
Yes it is!
I am a fan of the Pro Valkyrie, seems like a nice compromise between the DX nd Halo/Star plastics. Plus I really like the classic stamps on the Pro plastics
I love the Pro plastic! I have a Wraith and Tern in the Pro that I bag.
So with this being known, don't you think Innova needs to adjust their flight ratings based on the plastic type?
The Buzz is one disc I have yet to buy. I've thrown them and liked their flight. Do you still bag a Buzz?
@@NickCarroll They do have a nice stable glide! My new Origin reminds me of the Mako3.
I'm guessing it takes awhile to beat in a Halo plastic disc. They are definitely a high quality disc that will last.
Halo is a blend of star and I think champion in the rim
also known for being the most overtable runs of any mold
The Halo plastic is so freaking durable. It is worth the price paid per disc unless you lose it. If a person loses a lot of discs I'd probably would stay away from Halo...lol!!
Star plastic is the best for valk's in my opinion, for my arm speed anyways, after there beat in they fly nice
Joe, if I was to bag this great disc again it would definitely be in Star plastic and maybe even a DX mold also for those easy turnover shots....But as you commented, I've got that Underworld...LOL!!
love the visible disdain you have for that Halo Valkyrie
The star Valkyrie and a Gstar valk are my work horses.
I'm having the same experience with my Valkyries 👍

Happy new year man, you ever throen a Legacy disc called Phenom ?
Thanks and a Happy New Year to you as well! I have had a lot of people tell me to try out Legacy and I still haven't. All I hear is good things about them... I will have to get that disc on my next order.
I like the old DX plastic -vs- the newer version. To me they feel cheaper now and don’t fly as nice. That’s what matters to me most, because if a cheaper plastic disc flys better for me than a premium plastic, you better believe I’m buying the cheaper one and not the other. Or, in many cases, when I find a disc mild I like, I just buy that disc in a few different plastics.
The older DX plastic is definitely better, no doubt.
Great video! People can now see that Innova needs to fix their flight ratings. Thanks for this! 👊
Thanks and yes they do!
I also have a Star Mako3 and love it. Definitely a must have in the bag.
@@chainraiderdiscgolf right on brother, keep slinging D!!
@@chainraiderdiscgolf wow! I will definitely check that video out! 😂😂😂
That dx sure broke in nice for you! Hope ypu still bag it because you throw it 👍 👌
That disc does have a nice flight....
No I don't bag it. One of the first discs I ever bought so I retired it.
@@sanjuanpapi3677 I interpreted the point to be:
An amateur will not benefit from the quality attributes an NFL ball or halo plastic provides, which I agree with. Obviously an amateur can still appreciate throwing halo plastic or an NFL ball since it's kinda special things but appreciate ≠ benefit.
That Halo Valkyries going to be a bit less understable new so beat it in it and then it will Heizer flip beautifully

That's exactly what should have happened all dx plastic is flippy and all halo is overstable like throwing a putter against a driver and saying the driver won putters are junk
The Valkyrie is a control driver not a distance driver.
I totally agree it is but Innova has it listed as a distance driver.
@@chainraiderdiscgolf Lol I know they do that was me agreeing with you. They have a couple other 9 speeds that they do the same with. It's even funnier that other companies who sell the Valkyrie like infinite discs and OTB refer to it as a fairway/control driver.
@@marshallhamden4288 I don't think many people would classify 9 speeds as distance drivers. Only Innova 🤣.
I love the Trilogy line! Check out my in the bag video, I have many and many more on standby.
I really love Latitude 64 discs. The plastic is both durable and true to the flight numbers. Innova discs are all over the place with their different plastics which make the flight numbers meaningless.
@@brianbarber7285 I totally agree!
Love my Halo Valk... yes it's way more overstable than the DX but duh. The problem with cheap plastic is that it changes too fast. One week it flys great then in a few weeks or months, it's too flippy. My halo plastic is still overstable a year later. Consistent solid plastic.

A few of my friends throw the Sidewinder and love it. I am gonna have to get one and give it a rip... Thanks!
@Brian Barber you would hope so but pretty much all manufacturers disc's get more overstable the better the plastic quality

Yes I totally agree. They really do need to fix their flight ratings.
That is so great that you've been playing for 25 yrs! Wish I would have gotten started years ago.
The more you toss that dx disc the less predictable it'll get. That halo disc you're getting the same results every time. You must be a rookie bro!!!
DX will beat in within a week....lol!!
Dx plastic is junk . Hit a tree with it and a chunk is missing. Halo takes longer to beat in for sure but will last a long time where dx want
Never throw dx near trees unless you are sure you gonna miss the tree. Duh
