Girl, I totally get what you’re saying. When we were in Athens, we experienced some of the same things in Athens, and realize that it’s a lot of prejudice people in Athens. However, when you go to go to the coast of Mykonos and Santorini we didn’t experience that. But yeah, the Athenians, they will stare you down with a very hateful look like they wanna kill you, and they don’t try to hide it at all.

I’ve been to Athens, Santorini and Crete. The cuisine in Crete was way better IMO. Everything was well seasoned and portioned! Glad you had a nice time for your birthday!
I’m a Black woman, this happened to me in India and in Africa, people constantly staring at me, I mean constantly. I got used to it after a few weeks.

I lived in Europe for about 8 years. A few things - Outside of the U.S., people are a bit more direct. It’s not to be rude, they just don’t sugarcoat things. Yes, they stare. I stared back 😂 But I did learn that often it’s because they admire beauty, especially melanated beauty. If you ask why they’re staring, they’ll let you know. 😊
Now this was a travel vlog! The looks, The aesthetics, The content, The vibe, really enjoyed it. Hate that you experienced all that negativity and racism on your bday trip. ❤ but you made the best out of the situation and didn't let that dim your light. xx

Your Greece experience sounds like my Mexico trip. You survived it tho girl. We had a bad ant infestation in our hotel room. They sent someone to spray our room, but I was anxious the rest of the time. I also just about hated all the food I ate there too. Despite those things I really enjoyed it.

I was just in Athens, and I feel like we had totally different experiences. I stayed right in the center near Monastiraki in walking distance of everything and a view of the Acropolis from my hotel.
It was nice to see a more vacation/ chill side to Athens. My impression of Athens was: fast pace city vibes with way to much tourists. This vlog was giving me the same vibe as Santorini and Mykonos. 😍
Update:
Now that I got to the end of the vlog. I'm sorry you had that experience. In the touristy areas I saw so many other black people (probably other Americans) that I felt comfortable.
The only negative was the creepy old men cat calling/trying to "chat" even though I was dress conservatively. However, what I've learned solo traveling throughout Europe as a black women is you can be covered from head to toe or looking "rough" from too many days traveling and the "men" will still bother you. Keep pepper spray handy because black women are not respected in Europe; we are too often sexualized.
Travel outside the touristy areas and you'll see it. Unfortunately, they only change their attitudes (both the men and women) when they realize you are an American.
What was your experience in Athens? I had a great time in Greece, as I mentioned in the vlog, and I would definitely go back! I didn't feel uncomfortable at all, except for that one moment I was outside of a "touristy area". Even then, it was just people staring and not moving out of the way on the sidewalks-no one said anything or made any racist comments to me.
Also, the incident at the resort was a one-off, and I didn't experience anything similar for the rest of the trip or even when I first arrived.
Overall, I felt very comfortable there. I only mentioned the two experiences to raise awareness within our community, especially for black women, so we can stay informed and protect ourselves.
Also, I visited the Acropolis and other sites shown in the vlog and saw other black people as well. I never felt uncomfortable or received any weird comments. Just wanted to clear that up in case it was misinterpreted in the vlog. Thanks for watching! ❤️
