Lost/stolen luggage with SWA when the pilot and pilot in training switched seats at the very last second and crash landed into LaGuardia airport. For some reason SWA saw fit for a random courier service to deliver the luggage. One didn't make it at all, the other had most items stolen. I had to file a suit to even get SWA to offer anything at all!!!! Going to NY I wanted to go in style so my designer handbags and precious jewelry were in my carry on which we had to leave behind to go down the emergency exit blow up slide. When I finally got that of course all the designer items and jewelry were missing!!!!! I was literally interrogated by SWA as to why I would fly with designer items???!!! I had to prove to them with receipts and jewelry appraisals the worth of MY belongings to finally get any kind of compensation....then of course they wanted to compensate by "diminished value" THEY CRASHED THE PLANE AND CAUSED ALL THIS TO HAPPEN!!!!!
I have never had it lost where it didn't show up the next day. But the most nail-biting was when we went to Vegas to get married, and our marriage certificate and sample from the floral bouquet were both in the suitcase! Luckily, we arrived home and the next morning, the luggage was on our front porch - the airport had delivered it safely home. Phew!
Definitely on my bucket list! All the sites, and food looked fabulous. Yummmmm, octopus 🐙 is amazing. For those who haven't tried it, when properly prepared, it is so good.
Excellent video, as usual! Greece is on my bucket list! Sites are breathtaking and food (except octopus) looks delicious, especially fried cheese and lamb! Thank you for one of my favorite videos! So happy you got your luggage!!!
I love Greece! You brought back lots of memories!! Glad you had fun. If you can find it. Try the stuffed tomatoes. They are amazing! I loved the saganaki and yogurt too!!
You really made the most out of your stay in Greece. And even with the luggage being lost/ missing, you didn't let it get the best of you. Josh, you need to think of your contacts like medication and put it in your carry on luggage from now on.
I was looking forward to this video. I was in Greece last year and loved it. Except it was very hot when i visited. Looks like you had a great time despite luggage problem! Travel is all about rolling with the problems. Glad you enjoyed Athens and can't wait for cruise video.

You both looked so relaxed and comfortable on this trip. The fact that your bags were lost gave you the opportunity to buy some nice clothes. Very European! The food was very appealing looking. It is always fun to try new things. We bought AirTags for of the new luggage we bought. We will be on the Harmony of the Seas in October. Loving your Travelogue! Josh, you are doing a great job editing your posts.
Thanks so much Ted. We have had a discussion about air tags but worry that even if you have one, it only tells you they are at the airport but staff are unlikely to use that data, right?
Congratulations!!!! Beyond the food, the sights from the Grande Bretagne were wonderful.... Being about your age, I enjoyed your particular perspective on food, sights and tourism...
I love love loved your video!!! We are headed there the end of September and it looks like you two nailed it!!! Definitely going to check out some of the rooftop bars and eateries you mentioned. Can’t wait to see the rest of your trip! 😊
Thank yall for this overview. My husband and I are going on a Greek cruise next June and will stay in Athens before the sail. I also follow Sebastian. What a surprise to see yall with him. If possible, we will eat at the same places. We have an early morning tour planned and hope to get a nighttime tour. Thank you for the info and for being positive and just all-around fun!
This looked like a really amazing time in Athens given the luggage issue. You dealt with it matter-of-factly and didn’t let it ruin your time. Plus you got to shop.🥰 I do think an AirTag purchase should be in your future. I sure love mine. Even though I did the stupidest thing on my last trip. On the way home I ended up with both AirTags in one suitcase. That wasn’t so bright.😂🤦♀️ Really looking forward to the next video on your Greek islands cruise ending in Venice. I hope you’re spending a little time there post cruise. One of my favorite cities. ❤ As always, thanks for the terrific video.
Thanks so much Pam. We have talked about Air Tags now but still come up with the concern that even though I can see the luggage may be in the bowels of the airport it doesn’t mean the staff will do anything different, but who knows
OMG I'm only 7 minutes in and I'm exhausted. How do you have that energy that you can take that walking tour after such a long flight! Watching for the food -- I love Saganaki, did they serve it flaming? I'm hoping you will have Pastitsio in the video before the end!
Haveto say this is one of the best videos for a trip to Athens! I’ve noted the shopping and dining choices, will be on our itinerary next week when we land! Thanks
We are retired now. For the last 20 years of travelling, I have always had a change of clothes in my hand luggage. Sometimes even an extra dress and sandals. We have had luggage issues a couple of times and my husband always got caught out, once not even having a toothbrush. Once the airlines put us in an overnight hotel outside of the airport and we had to walk around in a dodgy area looking for somewhere to buy a toothbrush. For the past two years he has learned to pack properly. Last trip he packed his jumper in the checked luggage and it was freezing in the plane. You’d think he’d learn. We were in Athens two years ago and had an Airbnb in plaka. The best location. We are going back next week and I can’t wait for the food.
Haha live and learn. We actually have started to pack a toothbrush and minimal change of clothes for big trips after this, we are trying to learn our lesson 🤣 thanks so much for sharing hope you have an amazing time in Athens!
You have been very smart hiring guides. In Greece most of them have been to university and often have studied archaeology. So if one wants to know what they are seeing rather than just taking selfies at the acropolis and the rest of the monuments a guide is ideal. Even better if you can have a private one to yourselves where you don't have to share them with a great number of people
Thank you, it was our first time using Get Your Guide and absolutely loved it! So easy to use and reasonable prices for us. Our first night tour was alone with a guide, it was pricey but loved the individual experience it offered us.
you can't beat having a guide. They ll tell you everywhere else you need to go too for dinner , bars etc. Athens is amazing if you are not told where the best places are@@JoshRachael
As someone who travels to Athens regularly you really don’t need to worry about crime on the Metro. Athens remains one of the safest capital cities in Europe - just take the usual precautions and you’ll be absolutely fine.
@@JoshRachael The neighbors at the aria said they had crickets and I’m pretty sure they were telling the truth because we saw some by the pool. We had a lot of problems there. I felt like I was camping. It was a horrible trip but we laughed it off.
@@JoshRachael we were on the 27th floor in may. The hallways are pretty beat up, there are holes in the walls from the housekeeping carts with Sheetrock spilling on the floor. We walked in the room and there was a French fry on the floor, and our sink blew up. Facilities was there half a day working on it. The place needs work. On the upside, everyone was really nice. Housekeeping was omnipresent. I don’t think it’s the staff, it’s management issues that go above them.
We are leaving soon for our trip to Athens. I really loved your video. Rachel you have a great attitude. I would have lost my mind not having my luggage. I agree doing a tour and not researching all that history. Thank u both for all the Food videos. We leave next week. So excited 😂😂😂❤❤
Really enjoyed this one guys. So glad the luggage finally arrived. I can relate. Hopefully I can tell you the story this weekend if we meet up for a drink or two. Music tracks are spot on too. 👍
