I love how this song evolved from a line sung while digging in Minecraft, "I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole, diggy diggy hole", which was mixed by Patient Zero into a song called Dwarf Hole, and then the versions here.
and now its been mixed into Deep Rock Galactic, literally just a game about dwarves mining in space ruclips.net/video/nlUS4sXzdBM/видео.html&ab_channel=CrimsonGamer99
The line, "never see the blue moon glow" is a reference to another song by the Yogscast, Moonquest, named after a modded Minecraft series of the same name, about a dwarf that wishes to go to the moon and leaves his clan to do so.
The Wind Rose one is amazingly done, but I genuinely love seeing everyone in the Yogscast sing the original because it's clear it's friends simply having fun. That never fails to bring a smile to my face
it all started with someone digging a hole in minecraft while singing "diggy diggy hole" The viewers caught on , made it a meme and later a song was born. Btw , it's not the yogscast version , that's the original..
"Suckled from a teat of stone..." Yepp, you heard that correctly. There is a whole lyrics set written down somewhere. For me, as a LARP dwarf player for over 25 years now this has become my new national anthem.
I've been on a deep dive watching reactions to this song and I think in literally every single one the person reacted can't help but do the head bobbing to the rhythm. SUCH a fun, catchy tune!
I would actually point to Wind Rose as an example of what the fantasy fandom and DND/TTRPGs are all about; there's an edge of sincerity and reverence that people have for source material and mythology it represents, but then they go and name their character things like "Boblin the Goblin" or "Stabador the Fighter." It's always equal parts Lord of the Rings to Monty Python's Holy Grail.
This is the unofficial theme song of the company i work for, I build fences so every new job starts with digging holes, so on dig days this song is the first one we play on the bluetooth radio.
Watching this after having watched your sea shanty videos, I’m struck by how shanty-like this actually is. Catchy AF, call-and-response, simple singalong chorus, work song. Something I hadn’t quite picked up on I all the ties listening to it before.

Was supposed to see them at Progpower 2019, but the visa didn't come through. They perform in those outfits. If you have not listened to the prog bands Periphery and Leprous you should. Both lead singers are great and have unique voices.
I've been avoiding a first listen to this for weeks, hearing how goofy an earworm it apparently is, and I caved in today with yours. Awesome feedback Charlie.
Can we all apriciate how far a song sang by a World of Warcraft and minecraft loving 35 year old and made by Sparkles in his parents living room while visiting them for christmas and he made lots of sounds in it in his parents house. This song and Carrot for a cock the best Christmas song ever.

Yogscasts feels like an anthem, where as wind rose are good, but it only feels like a couple dwarfs…. It’s less big…?
Wind Rose is an Italian band that based their image on Tolkien dwarves... mixing in heavy metal music

You might like WindRose Drunken Dwarves.. a house concert gone bad or good if you are a dwarf
Wow... the Yogs were so young! It's crazy to see all the guys that hadn't been fired for being sexual predators yet.
