      My wife suffers thru migraines. We recently moved to the southwest and her primary care doctor will no longer prescribe refills for some of the meds that you can't just quit taking "cold turkey." She can't get an appointment for a new primary doc she found for two months. I admire the hard work you folks have undertaken. At age 73 with medical limitations, I am living some of my dreams of passive solar thru following you folks.

    I couldn't help but notice a past-future theme here. Jim fixing the past (cellar collapse), and working with the future (already planning for future rains and rebuilding with filling in the walls around what's left of the cellar). Jess fixing the past (jaw issue), and working with the future (geodesic dome). You guys have problems most of us will not face, and, despite setbacks, you're making incredible progress. I'm so glad your pain is getting better, Jess. Jim, when you uncovered those blocks I thought you were uncovering a lost city lol. Hope the rest of this year goes well for you guys!

    This a a life style that would give me major stress. You know what you are doing out on that beautiful plain but set backs-the root cellar the rebuild of the solar panels your family moving back to their own lifestyle - all that must create worry and isolation. I’m glad your brother is back and the solar panels fixed and the minute I saw you start on that dreadful wall collapse I felt a rejuvenation in both of you . There is no longer a big eyesore and reminder of hard work so undone. It’s getting fixed. And you Jess are getting better. What you both are doing out there is inspiring and admirable.

    Jess, I was diagnosed with TMJ years ago. As you started describing the symptoms, I started thinking this is what I experienced. The mouth guard changed my life. I hope you also have good luck with the appliance.

    • @tinydancer7426
      @tinydancer7426 Год назад +4

      I had TMJ. Did the mouth guard for nite time wear and also had one made to wear on my bottom teeth for daytime. Then, one day, a filling felt off. Long story short, it had cracked from top to bottom, and the front part had shifted jest a tech. got it repaired (aka new filling). Then, the TMJ disappeared. It had thrown off my bite just enough to cause the TMJ. Who would have thought. Now, the only time I have a TMJ episode is if I chew gum (big no no for me) or if I eat exceedingly hard pretzels. Since I no longer do either, I have been TMJ free for 22 years.

    Hey Jess, When you went into a complex and accurate analysis of Occam's Razor, my amateur insight yielded that in addition to being self directed, self sufficient and artistic, you're a highly complex intellect; and the teeth grinding head pain accompanies people of your make. No advice, just a bit of praise for digging down and doing what it takes to keep on keeping on - it's inspiring - and the world needs inspiring people. Thanks.

    Hello Jim and Jess, hope you're feeling better. I've been watching your videos for a while now and really enjoy all the strength we both have getting your project done. I landscaped for more than 30 years and hated wheelbarrows, that one wheel does nothing but give your back a lot of stress. Took a ride up to Vermont and bought a Vermont garden cart and it solved the problem. It's just a strong suggestion to get a dumping garden cart and you won't believe how much a lighter the load is. you can almost pull most loads with one hand. They have one where the front is a sliding door so you can load up your stuff, pull it and then remove the door and dump. Great project. good luck with the root cellar.

I know that I absolutely LOVE my night guard. Since I have an anxiety disorder I've had to work on destressing activities quite a bit, and I'm definitely a night-time/anxious clencher. Sometimes if I'm working on something intently I'll go get the night guard and wear it, because I can feel myself clenching my jaws. YAY for reduced pain levels!

She also clenches her teeth, mainly in her sleep. The splint helps but once in a while, she will get a flair up when she eats hard food like chips, hard shell tacos, and anything tough. She holds cold compresses on the side of the jaw she is getting pain. Also, some exercises helps with the pain.

    You have opened up so much from when your channel started. I like the stance you’re taking. You still seem to have fear/worry/timidness that you did not come into this world with. Forgive me if my perception is off. I have struggled with this as well-the body follows the mind.
    The 3 things that have helped me the most is adopting the “Attitude of Gratitude “, Marissa Peer (she has a website and a RUclips channel) and Abraham Hicks, especially the “Everything is always working out for me” rampage. Best wishes Jess!!!

    Jess, your description of seeing yourself and being aware of your weaknesses is your strength. knowing your weakness, setting them aside is so important so that you do not share as you explained, putting it on someone else. Good for you, I have studied Psychosynthesis which is a very creative way to grow for the rest of your life. It helps to find Solutions for most of your life situations. The main question we have is 'Who am I'? Then I follow through with describing who I am. it's reassuring and interesting. And thank you so much for sharing.

    Absolutely thrilled that she is doing so much better. You're on the right track with the things you are doing to keep the pain at bay. I am older and have discovered those ideas and remedies for myself. Listen to your body. You're young, strong and very smart. You need to laugh a bit more. Very excited about the work on the root cellar. it's time to get it going. I think when the wall fell the sadness really hurt your hearts and discouraged you both. Now you can see the improvement and that will lift your spirits tremendously. God bless you both and loving prayers coming your way.

    Hi Jess and Jim, great to see you getting back to that root cellar. I was a mental health nurse for over 30 years and was always trying to educate professional colleagues to consider the whole person when diagnosing. I worked with many people trying to help them find their best functioning place, within. From early in my general nursing I learnt about how we are built for survival, not that it was taught from that perspective. Look at the functions of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system, they are physical response systems. The sympathetic directs energy to protect us from external threats while the parasympathetic directs energy to healing and recovery. We live with a perpetual balancing act between these. What we all need to learn is how to engage more with the parasympathetic, it should be taught at school. While these are ‘automatic’ systems, we can learn strategies to enable more parasympathetic functioning. Start with abdominal, deep breathing and practice guided deep muscle relaxation till you become proficient. This practice also worked for me when I tried grounding myself when faced with an emergency. For some of my career I worked in fire and rescue and needed to learn to hold my level of distress no matter what I was faced with. It is difficult to reach that but sustained practice has mental and physical Heath benefits. I am happy to explain more if you are interested. You guys are great and I have followed you for a while now. Take care.

    I jaw issues began 40 years ago with similar, however not as severe, issues. I literally chewed through my first guard in less than a year. I have many crowns from grinding. Do the mind/body work, it is the key to long term management of this condition . Invest in the guard You will find relief, however this is your body’s way of saying re-evaluate Best wishes.

    In my personal experience, there is a direct correlation between stress/anxiety and teeth clenching or grinding. THe pain you describe used to be called TMJ. The appliance that you wear when sleeping will be a big help. Did this pain start or get worse about the time the root cellar wall collapsed? That would do it. You were SO disappointed. Happy that the root cellar collapse is behind you now. 😊
