Watch BEFORE Buying This Mouse! Orochi v2 Long Term Review
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 22 окт 2022
- The Orochi v2 was very widely well-received as a great mobile laptop mouse, but also did incredibly well as a proper dedicated wireless gaming mouse. But how does it hold up in 2022 after long term use? And what about newcomers like the Aria XD7 as well as older competition like the G305? I'll review my experience with two Orochi v2's and how they do in current competition.

After being mouse addict for a while, the orochi has been my main for a year. I use it with a claw grip. If you like a small mouse, it's the most comfortable one out there at least for me, and I've tried all of them. Love it.
It’s such a great mouse at good value. Not many mice this small with good specs like the Orochi v2 out there. Wish I could love it more but 2 out of 2 went south on me and don’t work anymore. If they worked as intended I would’ve given them a hard recommend.
@@GekkoTechGaming how about double clicking ? I am hesitating only because I saw that it uses mechanical switches. I havent had a good exp with mechanical switches with logitech and steelseries mouses lasting only a year and sometimes not even that.
Thankfully no double clicking. Razer did a pretty good job on these switches. If I remember correctly they are rated for 60mil clicks, and they feel pretty nice too.
@@GekkoTechGaming ah thanks for the information. Awesome content and have a blast of a life man 🍻
does it double click? Almost all mice that have mechanical switches double clicked for me and I'm looking for one with optical switches but was tempted by this so I just had a question.
I've had 3 Orochi's over the last year, mainly just because I fell in love with it. I originally owned a black one, then a white one as I wanted a white one, and now I've bought a third as I moved home to my parents for 6 weeks and forgot to bring a mouse, all still work well for me. Was tempted to try a fancier mouse like a GPX or a Lamzu Atlantis, but I thought there was no need changing.
I also think I claw grip it, although I'm honestly not completely sure. I also have never used the Bluetooth mode, don't see the point in it. Only gone through 4 lithium AA batteries in a year, using them solely on 2.4 GHz mode.
Great review, man. I really appreciate your thoughts after using it long term. The sensor placement and my aiming style will fit this mouse really well.
Thank you! Happy to help 👍
Very informative video. I was debating getting the Orochi for the flexible bluetooth + usb dongle, but the issues you listed are highly important. Subbed
just got this mouse. It feels very natural in my hand. Even though it is small, it feels more natural than many other larger mouse in my hand. Love the clicking on the buttons.
Nice! Happy you like it too! Something about the shape just feels great in a small form factor
Hey man, I’ve got medium sized hands. Do you think I’ll be able to palm grip the mouse?
@deadshottii Hey dude. No, not with the Orochi. I’d say if you want to palm this mouse but with better build quality, check out the Fantech Aria. I did a review on that mouse as well, same shape, a little bigger and better price to quality ratio.
@@GekkoTechGaming alright, thanks!
Ty for the honest review.
🤙
when it comes to the side button placement, i think they made them like this because side buttons tend to be a must-have for claw and only a bonus for fingertip
Ahh, yeah I see. That makes sense. Fingertip isn’t my preferred grip, more towards claw so that’s probably why it bugged me so much. Thanks!
My main is orochi v2+aaa lithium+supeglides+cordura pad, i love that combo .
Love cordura pads. That’s a sick setup 👍
@@GekkoTechGaming Yeah, i have the neswkill themis cordura (really smooth & fast) and the SPC Gear Endorphy Cordura Speed XL (more control) , i love both.
Very nice review!
The part about undetected/pairing issues with Orochi V2 (ORV2) using Bluetooth caught my attention and thought that this might help address it:
1. Turn on BT on device and on ORV2
2. Hold the two side buttons and DPI button under the scroll wheel (you'll basically be clicking three stuff simultaneously) for 3 seconds
3. The blue light under the DPI button should blink 2-4 times, indicating that the mouse is in pairing mode
4. You should be seeing ORV2 in your device list by now
Hope this helps you and/or the others who encountered this problem :)
Good review! I would have gone for the Aria but I found the Orochi on sale. Just got it, and I love the shape
Thanks! Glad you like it 👍 I like the shape and size of the Orochi over the Aria too. It would be sick if they updated the internals for it
Hey man, what are your opinions on the size of the mouse? I have some medium sized hands, do you think I’ll be able to palm grip the mouse?
@@deadshottii Maybe if you're comfortable with your fingertips hanging over the buttons. Otherwise I would rather find a different mouse for a palm grip. It is really comfortable for claw gripping for me
I swear i use orochi like 1,5 years , still no issue ,God mouse , with adapter aaa battery + tiger ice . Im buy so many dav3, pulsar, GPX but im back to orochi .
The problem orochi is dpi deviation , 800 dpi like 900+ dpi, so u guys just adjust on synapse or ingame sensitivity..
Remember update firmware .
It’s a great mouse, the shape and size are hard to beat. The viper mini and Orochi v2 are my endgame shapes.
Thank you for bringing up the DPI deviation, don’t think I mentioned that in the video. Easy fix though with Synapse or game sens.
the orochi uses kailh 4.0 switches does it have double click issues?
Used this mouse almost 2 years no issue and the countless times I have dropped it and its like completely new lol the coating is very good. Oh also I have like medium-small sized hands and they are just perfect
While others may find the side button positioning weird I personally love where they are. It’s the only mouse I’ve found that actually places the side buttons exactly where I need them. Obviously that’s just a personal preference, but not having to alter my grip to utilize them has been a game changer for me. I have small hands but long fingers and have a grip kind of in between claw and finger tip. If you have small hands but not long thumbs those side buttons would probably be awkward.
Ahh yeah I could see that working super well for your hand type, that's a good point. That's the thing about mice and preferences, hands are super individual between people. Not just in size, but proportions, natural angles at the knuckles, finger length to palm ratio, all that jazz.
@@GekkoTechGaming exactly. And having a smaller palm size the shape of this thing allows me to drag the mouse down into my palm when tracking without being blocked at the edges forcing me to then pull my whole arm down. Egg shapes are perfect for that if one has small palms and there’s a lot less options in this shape so I highly recommend this for anyone with similar hands to me, but they should definitely find one somewhere in person to hold to make sure they have good access to all the buttons with their preferred grip. My gf can only reach them well if she palm grips it. So people should keep that in mind.
I have two orochi v2 one at home and one at work, i use both daily for at least 8 hours for more than a year and never had a single issue of what you are reporting.
Double clicking and scroll wheel issues after 9 months of use. How's your mouse?
thank you for your balanced and unbiased review. i recently got this orochi v2 and hoping there wont be any problem with mine *fingerscrossed
Hey man, what are your opinions on the size? I’ve got pretty medium sized hands, do you think I’ll be able to palm grip the mouse?
@@deadshottii for good measure, im wearing L or XL motorcycle gloves, and the orochi feels a bit too small for my hands. definitely no palm grip. so im only using it for mobile working. at home, i have the old basilisk v1 and that feels much better for me. hope that helps man.
@@anungging alright man thanks!
My orochi buttons pretty much died after 2 months, but Im actually gonna Mod it with new switches for the first time tomorrow. Overall the idea razer had was good just wish the quality was better.
That’s not a bad idea. I thought about trying but the last 2 times I tried soldering it didn’t go well lol. What switches are gonna swap with?
the bluetooth that died, was that only on one of the mice? For the other one, have you considered just replacing the broken side button with some soldering and replacement switch?
Just the one. Yes, the side button could more than likely be fixed by swapping in new switches. Never tried it myself, just didn’t think it was worth it for me personally.
which would you recommend for small hands and fingertip grip? fan tech aria or orochi v2? my old orochi v2 lmb broke so i’m thinking of buying a new mouse
For small hands and fingertip, definitely gonna be better with the Orochi. The Aria can work for fingertip but more for medium and large hands.
@@GekkoTechGaming Okay, thanks!
If Fantech made an XD3 V3 with the same sensor, specs and features of the Aria, that would be an instant buy from me. Unfortunately my hand gets numb and cramps up with the shape of the g305 so I don't think the Aria would be the right fit for me.
That S2 shape is super nice, would not be surprised if Fantech ends up releasing an update further down the line. Would be a smart idea. But yeah if you have problems with something like the G305 the Aria will have a moderate chance of causing you problems. I will say, the G305 feels pretty significantly different to me than the Aria, the Aria feels wider and the thumb groove definitely adds something. I really dislike the G305 but the Aria felt much nicer. The aria feels more substantial, like it fills out the hand more, while the G305 feels more narrow and flatter overall.
Is there any double click issues on orochi and aria xd7?
Over the period that I used my orochi's for, despite the other problems with bluetooth and side buttons they never developed double clicking. The Aria I didn't use long enough to confidently say
I like this mouse but for some reason no matter what usb port I try on my pc I tried usb 3.0 and 3.1 and the mouse will randomly skip for a second and the green light on top will light up like it’s reconnecting does anyone know how I could fix this I have had this mouse for awhile now and it’s like the only issue I have with it
He mentions skipping in the video. Says a firmware update fixed it and it's linked in the description. Also I've heard using a 2.0 port might work as well. Or it even could be a dirty sensor.
Love the mouse. The only thing i dont like is that they put the AAA slot in the bad place and AA in the perfect place. For tryhard gamers it shoud've been the opposite way around... We want a lighter mouse for aim, but also a balanced mouse. having a battery all the way in the back makes it feels unbalanced and wobbly when moving it around.
That is a good point. The AA in the rearmost spot would be kinda bad for everyone. Maybe if the aaa was the only option and in the middle. You could try using a AAA to AA adapter. That way it’s still light but centered
Really nice review! I also consider AW720m don't it is worth for that price range.
Thanks dude! I’ll look into it, that’s a weird looking mouse
Me and my friend have orochi and ours did not even lasted a year before the mouse isnt fully working but we can see the sensor light on we tried to fix but nothing works. It is a very good temporary mouse but not a long lasting one.
Yep, about the same experience as me. If they updated the internals it would be amazing
Used a Pro Click Mini for a couple years, then moved up to an Atheris. Couple odd mice later, recently got a Basilisk v3. Got this Orochi out of curiosity, it's ok but really sort of meh after the Basilisk though I realize it's a totally different use case.
This mouse doesn't work for me on wireless 3.0 usb or bt sadly, too buggy
i really like your mouse pad where did you get it
The two white ones are the Aqua Control plus and 2. The black/brown one is the Artisan Raiden. Raiden is gonna be hard to get, either the Japan site or possibly Lethak Gaming Gear, sometimes Amazon. For the AC+ and AC2 I got them from Lethal Gaming Gear
@@GekkoTechGaming thanks bro
I just purchased this yesterday. I hope I don't encounter the connectivity issue. Let me see how common it is...
Hope it works well for you! If it wasn’t for the QC the Orochi would be up there among my favorite mice
are you getting any accuracy issues with it?
@@YellowJelly13 Bluetooth is jittery or the polling there is super low or something, so yes. But no issues on the wireless front. It is super smooth even with the lowest polling. No issues. Would buy again. Shape is super comfy, but a bit small.
@@oredaze hmm, i see, for me it works the same with either bluetooth or wireless, i feel like the mouse gets too short or too far when i try to click some things
Where is the firmware update link?
Shoot my bad. Just added it to the description.
@@GekkoTechGaming Thank you :)
My Razer Orochi V2 reset it's LIFT OF DISTANCE each time i turn off and on my mouse. Also each time i change battery. Is there a fix to this? It's super annoying to start up the program to do the calibration steps over and over again!.
Oh shoot, that’s a crazy pain in the butt. Never had a problem with that for mine, let me dig around and see if I can find anything on that. EDIT: Ok I’m seeing that there were some other people that randomly had the issue but no fixes that I could find man, sorry :/
@@GekkoTechGaming Thanks for searching around. Yeah because it's only my LOD there isnt saving, all other settings is. NEW firmware needed :D . Hehe
By far the best mouse I've ever used.
But its dying.
Doesnt wake up from sleep (on 2.4Hz, NOT bluetooth) and right now even turning it off and on, on a brand new battery, also not starting.
Some circuitery might be damaged or something, but there have been no fall for a looooong time.
can you do razer pro click mini?
Orochi v2 vs Pulsar v2 xlite mini please 🤙🏼
Not a bad idea… but I can definitely give you a quick TLDR of my opinion. As far as small mice go, the Xlite v2 mini is better overall, not as cost effective but with my experience with the Orochi pooping out on me twice… eh. The Orochi is much more versatile with the battery choice, BT+2.4hz, but the forward sensor could either be a game changer or breaker. The Xlite is more centered and safer.
@@GekkoTechGaming how about the size? Do they have the same size? I was considering orochi since it was cheaper..but might go for the pulsar mini.. hehe thank for your reply!
The Orochi is quite a bit shorter in length. Better for fingertip than the Xlite Mini. Width and height are close but not exactly the same.
@@GekkoTechGaming thanks so much Sir! 🤙🏼
exceptionally heavy? It's like 60g...?
Yeah… looking back at this that is definitely an exaggeration, you’re right. But it’s 60g with no battery. With a typical AA battery, it’s close to 84g though, and for such a small mouse it feels super dense at that weight. The lowest you can get is about 65g with a lithium AAA battery but those suckers are expensive and non-rechargeable.
miss the old overwatch :(
Just ordered it hopefully no issues with side buttons occur c: because I don't care about Bluetooth
Good luck 👍
@@GekkoTechGaming thanks 😅
@@milkkolaj haha no shade or anything! Love the mouse just hope yours holds up better than mine did. At the end of the day you could just swap the switches if they go bad technically
@@GekkoTechGaming Well yeah the main reason I chose it over the Logitech was OpenRazer support on linux 😅
Mine has a wonky wheel after ~2 years
Wonky wheel after 9 months and double clicks
very very true that Razer has ALWAYS had durability issues. I've been thru keyboards, mice, etc. Sad because Razer has nice stuff in terms of design but just not worth it.
They definitely used to... But their more recent stuff has really jumped up in overall QC in my experience. Nothing compared to like Zowie or EGG but still better than what they used to put out.
@@GekkoTechGaming hmm tnx for letting me know. The only working Razer I have left is the Leviathan speaker set. I am thinking of trying the Razer Hammerhead bt earbuds for low latency wireless gaming but apprehensive esp since Asus also dropped the ball on their bt buds. Both buds left and right no longer working for me.
So no one is going to talk about the 3ms ? This is basically a office mouse for gaming ...
Worst mouse I ever owned, it only lasted a few months, it was going thru batteries a lot up until it just died completely, buttons were too sensitive, clicked things I didn't want to click. Another thing, the bad designed battery setup, it takes one AAA and one AA, why not just one specific size?
I hate this mouse, I can't seem to find a good grip for it, and my hands is only 19x10. I think I just hate short mouse. This mouse is too small. That's why people prefer the Aria
I get that. My hands are 17.5x10.5 so my hands appreciate the stubbiness for fingertip grip. Aria is a way safer bet for most people for sure, big crowd pleaser. The more extreme the size/shape of the mouse it becomes a gamble, either love it or hate it.
I own both but went back to the Orochi. Just depends on the size of your hands, that's it. Aria feels too big for me and I have to charge the thing every 3 days.
Still can’t decide between this or g305
Both solid budget options. Just concerned about long term durability for the Orochi :/ Orochi is significantly shorter, better for fingertip and small hands. Also has that forward sensor and is a little more ergonomic with that comfy thumb groove. G305 is longer, still somewhat relatively small, is flatter profile, and if I remember correctly the sensor is centered. And only one battery choice for the G305 vs the Orochi has 2 battery options.
@@GekkoTechGaming alr Ty
G305 because it is a bit longer. Really like crispy side buttons but dpi button is sorta annoying and third mouse button stopped working after some time. Also orochi right side is not as comfy. As this youtuber suggested just skip it. I am still in my mouse journey. Just learned i dom’t really lik over 100g mice lol tried basilisk and really wasn’t a fan
