I love that an actual gamer does mouse reviews. It just feels more reliable.
yeah, like optimum can actually aim and play valorant and stuff, and he actually explains how the features and specs of the mice translate to games in a meaningful way.
@@spaceecks1793 , couldn't have said it better myself!

"if you're solely a wrist aimer thought you may want to give this a pass"
I'm glad you keep us in mind
@@JamieReynolds89 yes, instead of low sensitivity on the mouse and large arm movements. Wrist aimers have higher sensitivity on the mouse and smaller movement by use of our wrists. Each has their pros and cons, but arm aiming is much more popular in eSports.
@@JamieReynolds89 you’re right, there are no pros to being a wrist aimer, some people just fall into that habit early and find it hard to break out of. Or they may be constrained by budget and have a small desk and mousepad instead of deskpad, so they have to make small movements.
@@arcanum3882 there can certainly be pros to wrist aiming. In games where you can't really predict where an enemy will appear and might have to do 180s and so on, having that higher sens can help out. Generally, people also think that wrist aiming is a little bit better, or atleast more consistant to track/trace with, while you often get more accurate flicks with arm aiming.
Yeah, I'm this person and am actually used to a heavier mouse haha
Imagine having a seizure to turn around.

No seriously 🤣🤣 we need a workout routine ASAP
i use the AAA battery with the adapter to AA. its only a 1g difference but moving the weight to the middle is a big plus. thus you get a light mouse and the balance as well.
You sir answered the question I had before even being asked.
I was alittle surprised that Ali didnt mention using that method since he did the same with his g305. I know if i bought this mouse i’d do the same. Like i have with my g305.
who needs an adapter? i just used a piece of crumpled-up tinfoil and it got the job done great
Who need tinfoil.. I use my cmos battery to bridge the connection
@@AlanIsAkira I think he didnt do that because the main reason to use an adapter for the g305 is the much better weight distrubition. I own one myself and without the adapter its way to back heavy and actaully degraded my aim when i first got it, the adapter fixxed it.
Really great video as always. Love the "new" outside shots where you handle the mouse with the sun in the blurry background, it really takes the vid to another level. Now, for the mouse, I don't know if the shape will suit me, I'm waiting on Razer to make a *Viper Mini Ultimate* which should be my Ultimate gaming mouse. Keep up the good work, thanks for making these high quality vids!
Personally, I would probably just put a AAA-battery into the AA-battery slot for lower weight AND centered weight distribution.
(Just using a small aluminium foil ball as a spacer, like I did in my G305)
Love the new Dark Mode intro, really clean
Thx bro
Honestly light mode one is better and looks cleaner
@Dihydrogen Monoxide Yes. The light one looks much cleaner, but obviously this one is easier on the eyes.
@@oliverrrrrrrrrr Very well put! I personally use light mode because it looks a lot cleaner, but dark mode is easier on the eyes during night.

Very good content as always! I'd like to add a note for the european viewers: The Orochi v2 launched at 79€, whereas the g305 is currently sold for 39€ in most european online stores. So while the "decrowning" of the g305 might be true for the north american market (50$ vs 70$), the g305 proposes much more value at literally half the price in europe imo.
now the orochi v2 is only $45 lol
@@notchipotle and G305 is $30
@@mr.commonsense6645 let's call it even, both are really good gaming mouse so it depends on your preference in shape, weight and feature, the orochi is more expensive but it came with lithium battery, bluetooth and better mousefeet.
because its black friday its 37€ on amazon XD
@@no-sr6mh damn thats an amazing deal
Maining original orochi for so many years I came across this video of yours and as a woman the old orochi has been the only mouse to ever fit my hand. V2 is now on it's way- and it should go perfectly with my hands and the ghost louqe I've build long time ago cause of your videos. Cheers!
incredible, this is my goto tech channel.
Good production, great info, great video style, good pace.
Also, appreciate the summary at the beggining!
This one looks a lot like my old Microsoft comfort mouse, just smaller. Something I'm missing on Razer mice is a wall seperating the buttons and the fingers so the button edges don't become grip area. After testing the BasiliskV2, I really like the grippy sides of the Basilisk and think this one would benefit from that feature. You just can't have small mice be slippery.
I've had the orochi v2 for about 2 weeks rn using it constantly and one thing I've noticed people mention is the weight distribution between the two batteries. I've used both the double and triple a batteries and I hardly noticed a difference in the weight shift, but I did notice a big difference in weight. Idk if its just me but I definitely prefer the aaa battery personally.
Yes I also prefer the AAA battery, the CG is a little bit further back and it feels lighter overall. Battery life will not be as good though, oh well...
Can you use this mouse for an Xbox series s

6:00 this is why you do the best reviews. even let us know about there not being an extension cable for the dongle with the purchase. you rock dude!👌thanks for the heads up
I have this mouse ever since it was launch, and placed the AAA lithium battery with the sleeve which brings the weight to 68g and shifts the weight towards the center. My hands are measured at 19.5 x 9.5cm, claw grip it sure does take some time to get used to the small size factor. I like how the mice forced me into an aggressive claw grip style.
Hey optimum, great video. Will you be reviewing the roccat kone pro air? Eager to hear your thoughts on it and excited to see how it performs on the LDAT considering it uses optical switches.
your videos are so amazing and informative
Just use one of those plastic triple a to double adapters and put the triple in the center. Lightweight with correct distribution, works like a dream for me. It was a pretty popular mod for g305s
at this point i only watch your mouse reviews to see your amazing aim
Fun fact: You can put a AAA battery in the AA battery slot with 2 little balls of tin foil on each side so that the ends of the battery are touching the terminals. That way you get the lightness of a AAA battery with the center weight distribution as well.
I've used small circular neodiyum magnets in my G305 without issues too. I did that while I was waiting for the AAA to AA converter to ship.
Lithium batteries are also much lighter than regular alkaline ones
Great insight on the Orochi V2! Can't wait for your review on the Xtrfy MZ1!
I love your channel so much you’re gonna hit a mil in no time!
Great video Ali, content is amazing and got me into building my first itx system in the Coolermaster NR 200P. Really liking this mouse to pair with it and wonder what mouse glides/skates you put on it?
best mouse I've used since years. My absolute favorite atm
Better in every way except the price! I don't think the Orochi is overpriced, but I see the G305 going for $30 sometimes. Still an incredible value and that plus its shape should keep it alive as a contender
I used the g305 for around 3 years now; tried higher end mice like the g903, corsair m65, g502, deathadder, but nothing ever felt right. Kept coming back over and over to the g305.
When swapping to the Orochi, I did find the lack of contact with my palm distracting at first, but after only 2 days of usage I can say I have no regrets. I use a weird hybrid of claw and fingertip when gaming, and more of a relax palm grim when browsing.
Overall, clean aesthetics, satisfying clicks, and great sensor. Finally a worthy successor.
Logitech need to get their head in the game, because after several disappointments with razer I had lost faith in the brand. The last year and a half or so, they have made a huge turn around and released great products like the blackshark, the viper, the huntsman, and now the orochi.
Seems like listening to your customer's feedback yields results. Who could have guess it...
how big is your hand? I have a 17x9 cm handsize and we have the same grip and Im looking to buy this mouse
@@hehehe9618 18x8.5 cm. Pretty close to yours.
@@dienekes6420 oh nice. If you dont mind, how is it going so far with the orochi v2? Any issues? Battery? Latency issues? Comfortability?
@@hehehe9618 honestly, I haven't found anything to complain about.
The mouse is significantly lighter compared to the 305, and the clicks feel much better. In fact, I'm in love with the mechanical switches on this thing, they feel so good.
One thing to take in count is that the shape is different. If you use a wrist rest you won't be able to rest your palm on the orochi where you would on the 305. I got used to it in a few days.
As far as battery, I've been using it exclusively the dongle and I'm still using the original battery it came with (2 months with 5-6 hours of use daily). This is supposed to be more draining than the Bluetooth, but so far I haven't even seen the percentage go down in the software.
With prices and performance like this the reasons for sticking with a wired mouse are getting fewer every day, great stuff
I like that you show the click latency test. Will you ever be doing them on the vaxee mice or are those just so far down the list they are not shown?
Could you maybe make a behind the scenes video?
I've gotten my hand on the G305. Fit for my hand and claw style better. It would be interesting to see an update to the thing but it suits my needs perfectly for now.
the update to that thing is basically the orochi v2
i'm really impressed how you review are good, thanks for this one i just bought the orochi V2 after seeing this, keep up the good work ☺
I've just been looking for a 303 replacement since mine died. Probably gonna pick this up, thanks for the review bro
wireless g303 is on the way
I'm considering this mouse. The big selling points for me are the size, it's compact and good for taking along with my gaming laptop. And it's got Bluetooth. That way I can leave my 2.4ghz dongle plugged in on my gaming laptop, but then swap over to my work laptop without worrying about the dongle. Plus Bluetooth is more power efficient so I won't be eating up batteries while working.
So really it's a mash of features that make this the front runner, portability, and versatility. Being able to take both AA and AAA is also a big bonus! I know you can get an adapter and run a AAA in the AA slot, but for me the weight is already pretty light, so I'll take the negligible extra weight for the extended battery life. But hey, if Alli can find are AAA this will have a slot for it.
And yeah, ultimately I'm getting this to game on the go with. Having great clickers that won't die on me, and having great performance and durability are important. If I were buying a mouse for my desktop at home I probably wouldn't even look at this. There are better mice for a dedicated desktop. Even if I'm plugging in my laptop at home, I would probably look for a larger mouse that's got better ergonomics, and more features. I actually really liked the Basilisk v3, the scroll wheel with the three settings is right up my alley. And the larger, more ergonomic size would suit me better I think. But on the go? Stashing in a bag? Ehh, not so much.
So yeah, I think the Orochi fits a very particular use case. I think it's the best for the portable gamer. And one who needs to work on the side. That so happens to suit my current needs well.
Already bought the mouse based off of your review. I have no regrets! Thanks!
Btw is there any chance you're going to take a look at the new Cooler Master mm731? Honestly your reviews are what most of us trust when it comes to motion delay and latency testing.
Excited to see more videos!
Thank you for your review! I'm getting this mouse today! (white version)
by far one of the best gaming Utubers.
You can set lod to 1mm in synapse, and the coating is awesome (from someone who swets a lot)
Sweaty palms suck. I've always had this issue
Try out a honeycomb mouse that has holes. It helps me out a ton with sweaty palms since less point of contact for my hands to get sweaty.
About those honey combed shells, I’ve always been worries about palm sweat reducing the lifespan on those mices. Not to mention it’ll always be hard to clean those mice
@@9540400 any high quality mouse with honeycombing has a coated pcb to protect the electronics. As long as your hand doesn't spray sweat with vigor, you should be fine.
@@9540400 I have very sweaty hands and after a year plus its has never been an issue that my mouse has holes in it. Wash your hands before using it, use a wet wipe on it on your discretion, and I put mine in a zip lock bag (just the actual mouse not the whole cable) when I'm not using it so no dust builds up. Doing this and my UL2 looks as good as new almost a full 2 years later.
Been starring at the kone pro air... I think I need you to do a mouse review on it. I trust your god tier gameplay and aim.
Also maybe insert the AAA in reverse, or with paper inserts on the connections, when not using it for added weight/balance option, as well as having a backup battery at the ready.
Couldn't they just have included an AAA to AA converter so that they don't need to add the extra slot. It would have been lighter and more center balanced.
You can also buy a AA to AAA converter to have it center balanced and light, best of both worlds
They can't tell you an exact weight because different battery polymers weigh differently and change all the time. They can give an estimate so I think that is worth putting.
Why haven't you taken a look at the MM720? I figured you should because it was designed for claw grip.
Love the vids man. Keep it up!
Been using this for a few days now. Still adjusting to the shape.
4:52 "In the future, just tell me what the weight of the mouse actually is on the box.." That's exactly what they did by excluding the battery weight... since you have different options between AA/AAA and alkaline vs lithium.
This is double the price (£70) of the G305 (£35) here in the UK.
Yep, here in Italy Amazon lists it for 80 euros and G305 is 44 currently, clearly it is not budget and not an alternative on the same budget.
the orochi is new and hasnt had any promotions yet, the price will probably come down with time. the ryzen 3600 started at like over 200 dollars in the US, but last year we saw it dip to like 160, i think the orochi will be a similar deal.
@@spaceecks1793 In my opinion: we live now and now it is almost double the price, one year from now we will see.
Honestly, I've seen so many reviews on this mouse comparing it to the g305 and all have downplayed how much more expensive it is. We do realize that $70 is double the price of the $35 you can often get the g305 for? Love Ali, but like most tech reviewers he seems to downplay the relative costs of 'budget' items
@@twincitiesberrycompany8723 Agreed. And for $10 more you could buy a Glorious Model O wireless... It's not a budget option at all.
Hey , Asus just launched the Gladius 3, are you gonna check that out? sinds it's expensive and supposed to compete with the high end-mouses in the market, i wonder what you think about it.
Just got this mouse yesterday, its so good for small hands, still insane with bigger hands as well
You have two different sized hands?
@@Dee0426 no just based off other ppl opinions lolol
Bought a G305 for around $25 new on ebay, so I think the G305 is still a top budget option since it's been around for so long and prices have dropped.
Orochi v2 prices have dropped too now. $45 on Amazon. I would say it's worth for the better internals.
Problem is G305's use pretty bad switches that are rated for only 10mil presses while the Orochi is rated for 60mil, so in the long run is it really cheaper?
Great review! I think the price difference to the G305 can matter a lot to this segment.
Im looking to replace my wired egg (gpro gaming mouse), its great to hear a review from someone who mains the same shape.
Hey Ali, how do you manage to avoid wrist pain on the G305?
I feel that mice these days all have good sensors and features. It all comes down to shape and sizes and unfortunately, the Orochi is a bit too much on the smaller size. Even the 305 is a bit small but still fits my hand close enough to be able to game comfortably. Smaller than that is a no for me. For people like me, I feel that the g305 is still king.
Just bought this mouse coming from endgame xm1r / Hati S Wired and Wireless ACE editions / GPro Superlight / the new Pulsar Xlite v2 & v2 mini . I also have every new Zowie C series ZA11 12 13 S1 & 2 EC 1 2 3 (waiting to buy the FK series). Razer Viper Ultimate Wireless and Viper mini wired. I play Apex Warzone CS Battlefield. I would say I tend to switch mice depending on game. But this mouse guys, is just insane! Ive never ever experienced such an amazing first hand feel. I use a mix of fingertip / relaxed claw. I picked it up for 44 euroes on amazon! the 2.4g wireless latency feels as fast as the GPro Superlight! I cannot notice any difference, as of the G-wolves and pulsars its way more laggy feel. And the shape is legendary! clicks are amazing! only issue I have is the weight, as the AAA in the back messes up the weight distribution too much to make it worth the 7g difference. Using the AA and wish it was 10-15g lighter. The LOD is also a bit too heigh on lowest settings . Other than that its perfect for fingertip!
Linus intro is Jump scare for me but optim's intro is satisfying

I trust your mouse reviews more than anyone!
Even rocket jump ninja??
could you just put the AAA adaptor on and then fit it in the AA slot for more centered weight? or would that end up being the same weight as a normal AA???
What would you say is the best mouse for a palm grip with medium/ large hands?
Just bought this today for my laptop for $28. I'm switching it to my desktop didn't expect to like it this much. my G703 is kinda double clicking ever so slightly. I should've bought two
You could use a foil ball to use an AAA battery in the AA slot to make it lighter, try that
I really like the design and features. But, is it more durable than G304/5? Because my main problem with my G304 is that it (the microswitch) keeps breaking just after a few months.
i like how he spliced in all those headshots.
i suppose they labeled the box at 60g without battery since it varies depending on which battery you use? as opposed to listing different weights per each battery size/type and cluttering the box with text.
In Synapse you can change LOD from default 2mm to 1mm :)
Those one taps were beautiful
Just get the lightest AAA battery you can find and put it into a AAA to AA battery adapter case and then you can have optimal weight distribution without the weight gain.
This was my first mouse purchase I was using a pos before. Recently I got a Glorious model O and I’m struggling to use it cause of how good this mouse is. It used to the model o yet but I hope I can soon otherwise I’ll go back to this one
I’ve had a g305 for 3 years. It’s never done me wrong but I think it’s time for a change.
triple A with a double A adapter for weight balancing is perfect
Kinda weird how people are not talking about your aiming skills holy shit those are awesome shots.
At 02:37 this is not how to remove the cover, there's a notch at the bottom of the cover to remove it easily (with a more satisfying feel since it's tight with magnets)
Install an AAA battery using an AAA to AA adapter in the AA slot. Solves both the weight and the weight distribution.
Interesting. I adore my g305. I might have to pick this up.
what about AAA to AA adapter in the middle spot?
IF IT FITS IT SHIPS!
I prefer a slightly heavier mouse - can the AA and AAA batteries be used together, at the same time?
To anyone considering this mouse, it does NOT have a proper on-board memory profile even though the product page says it has 1. This means that it's impossible to store macros on-board the mouse, and you must have Synapse open to use any macros.
I would love to see more mice with this size, but premium, the superlight is a premium mouse, but is as large as a boat
If the LoD is too high and you can't set it from the driver, use tapefix! ; )
Use aaa to aa adapter, place it in the aa slot, win. Loved the review!
@vrtxte because of getting better weight balance but still low overall weight. Tinfoil is easier though.
@@lepari9986 Dunno if it's easier... i just bought a 4 pack on amazon and cut most of the plastic off.. but tinfoil will work just as well
@@razberry5000 tinfoil lighter and everyone has it
have you tried the katar from corsair? that thing is crazy in hand. looks almost like the orochi.
Did the Orochi wireless or sensor feel downgraded compared to the Viper Ultimate? Or worse than G Pro X Superlight?
get the AAA lithium battery and put it in AA cell battery converter case, that way you get it lighter and non-back heavy
I have the orochi v2 and jam an aaa battery in the aa battery slot using tinfoil. This centers the weight and Keeps the weight down
Good video man, but a 20 to 30 dollars difference is quite a substancial number when both are low budget oriented items. The razer at 50 dollars would implied a more or less 28% discount in its price and at 40 dollars it would need a more or less 43% cut in price in order to be on pair with the Logitech one. I know that you have said that it's worthy that extra cost, because of its features; but it's not a little difference regarding mere price. We are not talking about a price difference between a 1200 dollars GPU and a 1170 one, its quite a different scenario
In Europe the Orochi costs double the g305's price. For some reason we always get super inflated prices on razer products, a viper ultimate with dock is 170€ (roughly 200 USD). Logitech usually stays pretty fairly priced. They don't do the usual dollar per euro conversion that we usually get. Just bought the g305.
Depends on the retailer I guess? I saw G305s as cheap as 40€, but I saw Orochi V2 for 69€ too.
Use a AAA to AA adapter and see how that affects the weight distribution o:
I was going to suggest the same. Should allow you to shed some weight while not messing with the balance.
I kinda wish razer had gone with a single AA slot and shipped an adapter with it, I guess you could argue that its impossible to lose a built in battery slot, but adapters are easy to find, and ditching the extra set of battery contacts and plastic molding would have probably allowed for an even lower weight, and maybe slightly lower cost too.
Button batteries with foil is goated but u need to change it like 2 times a day (are very cheap but annoying af)
Anyway aaa with foil should be good dont need an adapter if doesnt rattle
about the "60g without a battery", this is not the first time that Razer pulls a thing like this.
In France, on most retailers websites, the "ultralight" classifications in achieved when the mouse is below 85g (which is rather high for a "light" mouse but whatever). And the other Razer AA battery mouse, the Razer Basilisk Hyper Speed is like below that threshold of 85g, at 83g and therefore is classified as a "ultralight" mouse while with a standard AA battery inside, the mouse is like 115g or heavier, far from a light mouse imho.
That 85g threshold seems to be a thing for light mice and is apparently widely used by e-tailers. I talked about that with a community manager on Twitter, and now it is explicitly said "weight without the battery" in caps next to the weight in the spec sheet, but this is very shady marketing if you ask me
I didn't see anyone mention it, but as someone who loves the G305 and tried the Orochi shape, I found it weird that the sloping of the Orochi's shape towards the front makes it so it feels like it's going to slip out from my fingers.
Absolutely loving the shape
My only issue with Razer, after many years of using various models of their mice, Ive never had a mouse from them last over 2 years. Its always the scroll wheel that goes first it seems.
I also have the sort-of-similar smallish Corsiar Harpon. I like the Orochi V2 much more
The mouse I love the most is my Cooler Master MM720. The weight and shape are unbeatable to me. I can just lay my hand on it and lift my hand without even applying any force with my fingers, and the mouse would just stay in my hand without even try to grab it. I NEED A wireless version of it
Those headshots were crisppppp
I don't know why you say that the USB adapter inserted into the back of the computer would lose signal without the extension cord? I haven't noticed anything like that yet. These are radio waves and 20 cm or 60 cm does not make any difference, let's not go mad.
how about using AAA-to-AA adapters? is that mean the center-of-mass actually center while having a lighter mouse?
The biggest problem with the g305 is that if you want it to be really good you need to get a AAA battery, new mouse feet, and a AAA to AA adapter, but the problem is that if you buy all this stuff it is basically the same price as the Orochi that is already way better
up for this, these logitech fanboys really cryin hard lmao
I'm also using claw grip and I prefer V shaped mice for that reason. Orochi has a straight right side and is too small. As a result, I finding myself making an effort to handle the mouse. Too band since otherwise, Orochi is a very good product ... except maybe the plastic used. My hands tend to get warm and is winter here. I can't imagine how sweaty this will get in summer.
Going to return the Orochi. Bought it because of the hype but honestly, the much touted design is a no go for me.
can you also review the Razor Basilisk X HyperSpeed? Its almost half the price and I haven't seen any dedicated reviews from bigger youtubers
Would also like to see a review on the Razor pro click
