4:52 "In the future, just tell me what the weight of the mouse actually is on the box.." That's exactly what they did by excluding the battery weight... since you have different options between AA/AAA and alkaline vs lithium.
G305 can be found for half the price, it is better but is £70 atm so imo it isn't a G305 killer yet but when it is on offer it will certainly be. The extra money is a lot for some people looking for a cheaper mouse.
Yeah, I got a handful of them for $15 with an included mousepad from Walmart, which they’ve done several times now. Even without that, the G305 is $40 normally, which is a good amount less than the $70 price for the Orochi.
lol this doesnt compete to g305, g305 is good for budget but if you want it to be good you'll have to mod it. shells, mouse feet, battery, adapter, etc. orochi is premium, top tier, and just better overall - clicks, stock battery, weight, weight distribution, mouse feet, customizable shell, and orochi competes to the likes of gpx and gmow lol yeah how tf its overprice
@@rainxx3207 It’s not that it’s overpriced, it’s just that the G305 is at least $30 cheaper normally (I got mine for $15 from Walmart, but those can be hard to find and isn’t really a fair comparison). And I got mine down to around 80g with just a ball of tin foil. It looks like if you want that 65g weight and good distribution for the Orochi, you’ll have to do the same thing with the foil or an adapter anyways. And in some countries it looks like the Orochi is several times the price of the G305, so when it comes to budget wireless gaming mice, the Orochi V2 doesn’t quite reach the same market segment as the G305. It looks like a really good mouse though, and I might get one to replace my G305 for traveling.
@@SirSethery lol like i said the orochi doesn't compete to the price range of g305, orochi is a premium and top tier wireless mouse while g305 is nice budget option, but when you factor the modding that you'll gonna do to improve the mice might as well get the orochi. fully modded g305
@@rainxx3207 Lol, don’t know who you’re arguing with. He said in the video that it’s a competitor to the G305, and we’re saying that it’s not because it’s a lot more expensive. Duh it’s better. Nobody here said that it’s overpriced.
Problem is G305's use pretty bad switches that are rated for only 10mil presses while the Orochi is rated for 60mil, so in the long run is it really cheaper?
This one looks a lot like my old Microsoft comfort mouse, just smaller. Something I'm missing on Razer mice is a wall seperating the buttons and the fingers so the button edges don't become grip area. After testing the BasiliskV2, I really like the grippy sides of the Basilisk and think this one would benefit from that feature. You just can't have small mice be slippery.
Maining original orochi for so many years I came across this video of yours and as a woman the old orochi has been the only mouse to ever fit my hand. V2 is now on it's way- and it should go perfectly with my hands and the ghost louqe I've build long time ago cause of your videos. Cheers!
The biggest problem with the g305 is that if you want it to be really good you need to get a AAA battery, new mouse feet, and a AAA to AA adapter, but the problem is that if you buy all this stuff it is basically the same price as the Orochi that is already way better
Better in every way except the price! I don't think the Orochi is overpriced, but I see the G305 going for $30 sometimes. Still an incredible value and that plus its shape should keep it alive as a contender
I have this mouse ever since it was launch, and placed the AAA lithium battery with the sleeve which brings the weight to 68g and shifts the weight towards the center. My hands are measured at 19.5 x 9.5cm, claw grip it sure does take some time to get used to the small size factor. I like how the mice forced me into an aggressive claw grip style.
At 02:37 this is not how to remove the cover, there's a notch at the bottom of the cover to remove it easily (with a more satisfying feel since it's tight with magnets)
Couldn't they just have included an AAA to AA converter so that they don't need to add the extra slot. It would have been lighter and more center balanced.
Just bought this today for my laptop for $28. I'm switching it to my desktop didn't expect to like it this much. my G703 is kinda double clicking ever so slightly. I should've bought two
I was going to suggest the same. Should allow you to shed some weight while not messing with the balance. I kinda wish razer had gone with a single AA slot and shipped an adapter with it, I guess you could argue that its impossible to lose a built in battery slot, but adapters are easy to find, and ditching the extra set of battery contacts and plastic molding would have probably allowed for an even lower weight, and maybe slightly lower cost too.
Just use one of those plastic triple a to double adapters and put the triple in the center. Lightweight with correct distribution, works like a dream for me. It was a pretty popular mod for g305s
I feel that mice these days all have good sensors and features. It all comes down to shape and sizes and unfortunately, the Orochi is a bit too much on the smaller size. Even the 305 is a bit small but still fits my hand close enough to be able to game comfortably. Smaller than that is a no for me. For people like me, I feel that the g305 is still king.
They can't tell you an exact weight because different battery polymers weigh differently and change all the time. They can give an estimate so I think that is worth putting.
I've gotten my hand on the G305. Fit for my hand and claw style better. It would be interesting to see an update to the thing but it suits my needs perfectly for now.
Hey optimum, great video. Will you be reviewing the roccat kone pro air? Eager to hear your thoughts on it and excited to see how it performs on the LDAT considering it uses optical switches.
3:45, not true bro, if you've used a mouse before you know how much a alka/lithium-io aa/aaa battery weighs you you can calc the final weight with either +12/17/21 or 24 grams
I wish someone mentioned that if you have a wireless internet connection working at 2.4ghz this mouse is completely going to kill it if you use rf dongle connection of the mouse. And even if you go for bluetooth, if there is some heavy-ish download/upload going on over wifi mouse is also going to be almost unuseable
I got 2.4ghz and 5ghz router next to me, no problems even compared to my wired viper mini. I believe the dongle operates at a frequency higher than 5ghz.
To anyone considering this mouse, it does NOT have a proper on-board memory profile even though the product page says it has 1. This means that it's impossible to store macros on-board the mouse, and you must have Synapse open to use any macros.
This mouse is unreal. So amazing in every way. I managed to get the new finalmouse wireless and I don’t even think I’m going to use it. Edit - I got the new finalmouse and it is better but it’s $100 more.
Literally min away from pressing on Buy Now button when I found out the battery weight wasn't included in the advertised weight of the mouse....I'm currently using Final Mouse Ultra Light 2, so yeah 10 extra grams matter way too much.
Just bought this mouse coming from endgame xm1r / Hati S Wired and Wireless ACE editions / GPro Superlight / the new Pulsar Xlite v2 & v2 mini . I also have every new Zowie C series ZA11 12 13 S1 & 2 EC 1 2 3 (waiting to buy the FK series). Razer Viper Ultimate Wireless and Viper mini wired. I play Apex Warzone CS Battlefield. I would say I tend to switch mice depending on game. But this mouse guys, is just insane! Ive never ever experienced such an amazing first hand feel. I use a mix of fingertip / relaxed claw. I picked it up for 44 euroes on amazon! the 2.4g wireless latency feels as fast as the GPro Superlight! I cannot notice any difference, as of the G-wolves and pulsars its way more laggy feel. And the shape is legendary! clicks are amazing! only issue I have is the weight, as the AAA in the back messes up the weight distribution too much to make it worth the 7g difference. Using the AA and wish it was 10-15g lighter. The LOD is also a bit too heigh on lowest settings . Other than that its perfect for fingertip!
I'm considering this mouse. The big selling points for me are the size, it's compact and good for taking along with my gaming laptop. And it's got Bluetooth. That way I can leave my 2.4ghz dongle plugged in on my gaming laptop, but then swap over to my work laptop without worrying about the dongle. Plus Bluetooth is more power efficient so I won't be eating up batteries while working. So really it's a mash of features that make this the front runner, portability, and versatility. Being able to take both AA and AAA is also a big bonus! I know you can get an adapter and run a AAA in the AA slot, but for me the weight is already pretty light, so I'll take the negligible extra weight for the extended battery life. But hey, if Alli can find are AAA this will have a slot for it. And yeah, ultimately I'm getting this to game on the go with. Having great clickers that won't die on me, and having great performance and durability are important. If I were buying a mouse for my desktop at home I probably wouldn't even look at this. There are better mice for a dedicated desktop. Even if I'm plugging in my laptop at home, I would probably look for a larger mouse that's got better ergonomics, and more features. I actually really liked the Basilisk v3, the scroll wheel with the three settings is right up my alley. And the larger, more ergonomic size would suit me better I think. But on the go? Stashing in a bag? Ehh, not so much. So yeah, I think the Orochi fits a very particular use case. I think it's the best for the portable gamer. And one who needs to work on the side. That so happens to suit my current needs well.
could you just put the AAA adaptor on and then fit it in the AA slot for more centered weight? or would that end up being the same weight as a normal AA???
G502 is a pretty big mouse. So you would immediately feel the difference in your hand and while aiming until you get used to it. Sensors are similar so no problems there.
I switched from G502 to G305 myself. Ofcourse the size difference was noticeable at first. Despite my hand size being large at 21cm x 10 cm, i was still able to adapt to G305. It's not a problem if you're a fingertip grip style. Only downside i found was the thinner sides. G502 had more width and contours on the sides while G305 has more of a symmetrical shape. I believe Orochi v2 would be too small mouse if you're coming from G502.
Depends on your needs and hand size. If you’re really into competitive FPS games, then either would likely be an upgrade. If you’re looking for a main mouse to use all day for a variety of tasks, and comfort or extra features (like the cool scroll wheel or extra buttons) is your main concern, then it might be fine to stick with what you have. I’ve been trying to justify getting a lighter mouse from my G603, but I just can’t get a mouse without any ergonomics since I use it so often and play so few FPS games.
i suppose they labeled the box at 60g without battery since it varies depending on which battery you use? as opposed to listing different weights per each battery size/type and cluttering the box with text.
Also maybe insert the AAA in reverse, or with paper inserts on the connections, when not using it for added weight/balance option, as well as having a backup battery at the ready.
Hey , Asus just launched the Gladius 3, are you gonna check that out? sinds it's expensive and supposed to compete with the high end-mouses in the market, i wonder what you think about it.
You misunderstand what I'm saying. He says he prefers the AA solely due to weight distribution. Using a AAA in the AA slot gives the weight distribution he wants but also makes it lighter.
My Razor Viper Ultimate stopped charging only a few months into owning it. Could not get it to charge and wound up not working at all. Enough to keep me on the Logitech.
well i was extremly dissapointed with this mosue, does not track well at all on Glorious elements ice. Expect sensors to track on most pad surfaces in 2021
Higher dpi on the razer, rated for more hours of battery than the g305(like 10 or 20?), 100% pfte feet and the ips is 50 more. Iirc. Is there anything else that makes the razer mouse better? It is better, but not by a ton. I am still considering the g305 and will see how I like that since it it coming soon.
I have the Abyssus Essential now and am looking at this mouse to use both at home and on the go. At home I would use the dongle and while out and about I would use the bluetooth connection to my computer. Is the bluetooth connection noticably worse than the hyperspeed connection? I don't really play fps games.

I don't know why you say that the USB adapter inserted into the back of the computer would lose signal without the extension cord? I haven't noticed anything like that yet. These are radio waves and 20 cm or 60 cm does not make any difference, let's not go mad.

In Europe the Orochi costs double the g305's price. For some reason we always get super inflated prices on razer products, a viper ultimate with dock is 170€ (roughly 200 USD). Logitech usually stays pretty fairly priced. They don't do the usual dollar per euro conversion that we usually get. Just bought the g305.
Just get the lightest AAA battery you can find and put it into a AAA to AA battery adapter case and then you can have optimal weight distribution without the weight gain.
about the "60g without a battery", this is not the first time that Razer pulls a thing like this. In France, on most retailers websites, the "ultralight" classifications in achieved when the mouse is below 85g (which is rather high for a "light" mouse but whatever). And the other Razer AA battery mouse, the Razer Basilisk Hyper Speed is like below that threshold of 85g, at 83g and therefore is classified as a "ultralight" mouse while with a standard AA battery inside, the mouse is like 115g or heavier, far from a light mouse imho. That 85g threshold seems to be a thing for light mice and is apparently widely used by e-tailers. I talked about that with a community manager on Twitter, and now it is explicitly said "weight without the battery" in caps next to the weight in the spec sheet, but this is very shady marketing if you ask me

We do realize that $70 is double the price of the $35 you can often get the g305 for? Love Ali, but like most tech reviewers he seems to downplay the relative costs of 'budget' items
@@twincitiesberrycompany8723 Agreed. And for $10 more you could buy a Glorious Model O wireless... It's not a budget option at all.
4:52 "In the future, just tell me what the weight of the mouse actually is on the box.." That's exactly what they did by excluding the battery weight... since you have different options between AA/AAA and alkaline vs lithium.
incredible, this is my goto tech channel.
Good production, great info, great video style, good pace.
Also, appreciate the summary at the beggining!
Even without that, the G305 is $40 normally, which is a good amount less than the $70 price for the Orochi.
lol this doesnt compete to g305, g305 is good for budget but if you want it to be good you'll have to mod it. shells, mouse feet, battery, adapter, etc.
orochi is premium, top tier, and just better overall - clicks, stock battery, weight, weight distribution, mouse feet, customizable shell, and orochi competes to the likes of gpx and gmow lol
yeah how tf its overprice
@@rainxx3207
It’s not that it’s overpriced, it’s just that the G305 is at least $30 cheaper normally (I got mine for $15 from Walmart, but those can be hard to find and isn’t really a fair comparison).
@@rainxx3207
Lol, don’t know who you’re arguing with. He said in the video that it’s a competitor to the G305, and we’re saying that it’s not because it’s a lot more expensive. Duh it’s better. Nobody here said that it’s overpriced.
Bought a G305 for around $25 new on ebay, so I think the G305 is still a top budget option since it's been around for so long and prices have dropped.
Orochi v2 prices have dropped too now. $45 on Amazon. I would say it's worth for the better internals.
You just can't have small mice be slippery.
best mouse I've used since years. My absolute favorite atm
Maining original orochi for so many years I came across this video of yours and as a woman the old orochi has been the only mouse to ever fit my hand. V2 is now on it's way- and it should go perfectly with my hands and the ghost louqe I've build long time ago cause of your videos. Cheers!
With prices and performance like this the reasons for sticking with a wired mouse are getting fewer every day, great stuff
Could you maybe make a behind the scenes video?
Darkmode intro is so much better 😍
Just got this mouse yesterday, its so good for small hands, still insane with bigger hands as well
You have two different sized hands?
@@Dee0426 no just based off other ppl opinions lolol
The biggest problem with the g305 is that if you want it to be really good you need to get a AAA battery, new mouse feet, and a AAA to AA adapter, but the problem is that if you buy all this stuff it is basically the same price as the Orochi that is already way better
up for this, these logitech fanboys really cryin hard lmao
Better in every way except the price! I don't think the Orochi is overpriced, but I see the G305 going for $30 sometimes. Still an incredible value and that plus its shape should keep it alive as a contender
I have this mouse ever since it was launch, and placed the AAA lithium battery with the sleeve which brings the weight to 68g and shifts the weight towards the center. My hands are measured at 19.5 x 9.5cm, claw grip it sure does take some time to get used to the small size factor. I like how the mice forced me into an aggressive claw grip style.
I trust your mouse reviews more than anyone!
Even rocket jump ninja??
At 02:37 this is not how to remove the cover, there's a notch at the bottom of the cover to remove it easily (with a more satisfying feel since it's tight with magnets)
Couldn't they just have included an AAA to AA converter so that they don't need to add the extra slot. It would have been lighter and more center balanced.
Just bought this today for my laptop for $28. I'm switching it to my desktop didn't expect to like it this much. my G703 is kinda double clicking ever so slightly. I should've bought two
Use a AAA to AA adapter and see how that affects the weight distribution o:
I was going to suggest the same. Should allow you to shed some weight while not messing with the balance.
I kinda wish razer had gone with a single AA slot and shipped an adapter with it, I guess you could argue that its impossible to lose a built in battery slot, but adapters are easy to find, and ditching the extra set of battery contacts and plastic molding would have probably allowed for an even lower weight, and maybe slightly lower cost too.
Button batteries with foil is goated but u need to change it like 2 times a day (are very cheap but annoying af)
Anyway aaa with foil should be good dont need an adapter if doesnt rattle
Just use one of those plastic triple a to double adapters and put the triple in the center. Lightweight with correct distribution, works like a dream for me. It was a pretty popular mod for g305s
Use aaa to aa adapter, place it in the aa slot, win. Loved the review!
@vrtxte because of getting better weight balance but still low overall weight. Tinfoil is easier though.
@@lepari9986 Dunno if it's easier... i just bought a 4 pack on amazon and cut most of the plastic off.. but tinfoil will work just as well
@@razberry5000 tinfoil lighter and everyone has it
I feel that mice these days all have good sensors and features. It all comes down to shape and sizes and unfortunately, the Orochi is a bit too much on the smaller size. Even the 305 is a bit small but still fits my hand close enough to be able to game comfortably. Smaller than that is a no for me. For people like me, I feel that the g305 is still king.
I love your channel so much you’re gonna hit a mil in no time!
They can't tell you an exact weight because different battery polymers weigh differently and change all the time. They can give an estimate so I think that is worth putting.
I've gotten my hand on the G305. Fit for my hand and claw style better. It would be interesting to see an update to the thing but it suits my needs perfectly for now.
the update to that thing is basically the orochi v2
6:07 can I use any type of USB extension or need some kind of certified high quality expensive one for optimal performance?

Hey optimum, great video. Will you be reviewing the roccat kone pro air? Eager to hear your thoughts on it and excited to see how it performs on the LDAT considering it uses optical switches.
3:45, not true bro, if you've used a mouse before you know how much a alka/lithium-io aa/aaa battery weighs you you can calc the final weight with either +12/17/21 or 24 grams
Idk man, its like triple the cost of a g305 for me, one might as well call viper ultimate a g305 killer at that point.
its only 70 bucks g305 is 50
@@rivall8105 G305 is 35-40 here, the Orochi v2 is 80.
Idk where they get triple the price, but it's 2x easily.
@@jujuu1339 Yeah same, no issues. I also have 2 other wireless mice nearby on 2.4GHz as well.
I've just been looking for a 303 replacement since mine died. Probably gonna pick this up, thanks for the review bro
wireless g303 is on the way
5:25 I would love if you'd make a video about aim trainers! Which you find better, tips etc.
i'm really impressed how you review are good, thanks for this one i just bought the orochi V2 after seeing this, keep up the good work ☺
To anyone considering this mouse, it does NOT have a proper on-board memory profile even though the product page says it has 1. This means that it's impossible to store macros on-board the mouse, and you must have Synapse open to use any macros.
I have the orochi v2 and jam an aaa battery in the aa battery slot using tinfoil. This centers the weight and Keeps the weight down
Great insight on the Orochi V2! Can't wait for your review on the Xtrfy MZ1!
6:35 can someone explain why he says this won't be for wrist aimers?
I’ve had a g305 for 3 years. It’s never done me wrong but I think it’s time for a change.
Thank you for your review! I'm getting this mouse today! (white version)
Legit have never seen a more thorough yet concise review for a mouse. Possibly for any product. Very well done.
Really? :D
could you just put the AAA adaptor on and then fit it in the AA slot for more centered weight? or would that end up being the same weight as a normal AA???
If I switched from the G502 Hero that I'm using now to either the G305 or this Orochi V2, would that be a downgrade?
Depends if you like buttons on your mouse, and if you play FPS games, definitely get one of them, just the mouse will come to your grip preference
Been starring at the kone pro air... I think I need you to do a mouse review on it. I trust your god tier gameplay and aim.
I love my Orochi v2 but its giving me so many headaches recently. The scroll wheel issues are so frustrating.
Been using this for a few days now. Still adjusting to the shape.
You can also buy a AA to AAA converter to have it center balanced and light, best of both worlds
i suppose they labeled the box at 60g without battery since it varies depending on which battery you use? as opposed to listing different weights per each battery size/type and cluttering the box with text.
Install an AAA battery using an AAA to AA adapter in the AA slot. Solves both the weight and the weight distribution.
What would you say is the best mouse for a palm grip with medium/ large hands?
Also maybe insert the AAA in reverse, or with paper inserts on the connections, when not using it for added weight/balance option, as well as having a backup battery at the ready.
Hey , Asus just launched the Gladius 3, are you gonna check that out? sinds it's expensive and supposed to compete with the high end-mouses in the market, i wonder what you think about it.
I prefer a slightly heavier mouse - can the AA and AAA batteries be used together, at the same time?
You didnt try aaa lithium in the aa slot with adapter. That would've been the first thing I thought of lol.
There's both a AAA and AA slot in the mouse so you don't need an adapter
You misunderstand what I'm saying. He says he prefers the AA solely due to weight distribution. Using a AAA in the AA slot gives the weight distribution he wants but also makes it lighter.

Already bought the mouse based off of your review. I have no regrets! Thanks!
Btw is there any chance you're going to take a look at the new Cooler Master mm731? Honestly your reviews are what most of us trust when it comes to motion delay and latency testing.

i like how he spliced in all those headshots.
Can you but both batteries in it for longer battery life?
Razer doesn't recommend that
I don't know why you say that the USB adapter inserted into the back of the computer would lose signal without the extension cord? I haven't noticed anything like that yet. These are radio waves and 20 cm or 60 cm does not make any difference, let's not go mad.

In Europe the Orochi costs double the g305's price. For some reason we always get super inflated prices on razer products, a viper ultimate with dock is 170€ (roughly 200 USD). Logitech usually stays pretty fairly priced. They don't do the usual dollar per euro conversion that we usually get. Just bought the g305.
Depends on the retailer I guess? I saw G305s as cheap as 40€, but I saw Orochi V2 for 69€ too.
Just get the lightest AAA battery you can find and put it into a AAA to AA battery adapter case and then you can have optimal weight distribution without the weight gain.
Im looking to replace my wired egg (gpro gaming mouse), its great to hear a review from someone who mains the same shape.
about the "60g without a battery", this is not the first time that Razer pulls a thing like this.
I talked about that with a community manager on Twitter, and now it is explicitly said "weight without the battery" in caps next to the weight in the spec sheet, but this is very shady marketing if you ask me
Did the Orochi wireless or sensor feel downgraded compared to the Viper Ultimate? Or worse than G Pro X Superlight?
my brother has the orochi v2 i have tried it (i have small to medium hands)and with my grip semi claw semi fingertip it feels amazing i would suggest trying it out.
Kinda weird how people are not talking about your aiming skills holy shit those are awesome shots.
How is a mouse that is straight double the price a killer?
