Today we are getting ready for Shabbat! I’m doing some cooking and chatting with you about plans and just getting everything done so that I can be ready for Shabbat as an Orthodox Jewish Mom. Then something happens that never happened before! Of course I take you along for the whole thing so thank you for watching!

These past few weeks have thrown so much at us. My husband lost his father in mid June. He was unable to go say goodbye or attend his funeral. It has been downhill since then. So many things are needing repairs all at once. My poor husband has been going on 4 hours of sleep a night, trying to keep things going. It is also draining us financially. Thank you for reading my rambling mess. Please know you and your videos are such a blessing. Thank for the reminder to take a deep breath and that it will be okay. ❤️!

You can put cooked garbanzo beans on a baking tray and roast them in the oven - season with salt and whatever you like, and spray a bit of oil on them a few minutes before the roasting finishes. They're a delicious and healthy snack that way :)

You are amazing in your ability to keep organized. I do the same thing in terms of why did I decide to do that now lol. But you are so right in the end its so worth it. Hi Chana! Once when I was working two jobs, I showed up at the wrong one. Needless to say, I ended up late at the right one! After that escapade, I always kept track on a large calendar of where I was supposed to be. The dump cake looked delicious! As always a pleasure to watch and learn....

The big pigs in a blanket looked good. I usually use the smokies-the small ones and crescent rolls. But I may try the ones you made with puff pastry! They looked really good. Loved seeing Baby firefly and Bella interact. I hope Bella is doing well! I have forgotten things many times! It happens and its okay! You are such a busy mom! I think its nice that you and Mr Firefly are sharing an office. Now you can have couple time. Congratulations on your accomplishments! Love your sidekick commentator! Roasted garbanzo beans, make a great snack, you can add whatever spices you want or just leave them plain. I like them really nice and crunchy. Very dry, as a substitute for popcorn sometimes. Have a great week ahead and again thank you for sharing your life with us. 24:30

I love getting a glimpse of your kiddos. Especially baby firefly who is a little older than my granddaughter but much taller! Lol Those little apple dumplings looked so easy and delicious! I think they would make a nice addition to a tea party. How did they taste?
So I actually didn’t get to taste them! Mr Firefly ate them both so I’d say they were probably pretty good 😂

I need to rearrange/reorganize my office. It is such a daunting job that I keep putting it off. I love hearing Baby Firefly in the background. It is hard to believe that he will be one soon. Time is a thief when it comes to our little loves and them growing up.
I often find that I have forgotten to finish up a job/chore. But it’s okay. It is always there waiting for me to finish up when I remember.

Hey Chana!!! I love how things get lost I translation between the US and UK. When you mentioned about making pigs in blankets I gasped out loud! In the uk a pig in blanket would be sausage wrapped in bacon ! I’m thinking i thought you couldn’t eat pork? Turns out you made a sausage roll! Sausage wrapped in pastry in the UK!! 😅😅😅😅

LOL Yeah, I love it when life happens and plans just go poof! We're doing pretty good here. People are coming today to demo our water damaged floors and walls. Then we need to get a contractor to make it all better. I've had to pull deep from my well of "and that's okay" for a few days now. 🙃 My dive into learning to watercolor has taken an abrupt pause due to the disruption and that's okay! 😁 I bought green beans at the store to make your version. Watching you multi-tasking as you fed Baby Firefly while talking to the camera to relate your busy day, I'm just surprised you haven't forgotten before now. 😅
I once forgot to put my skirt on when I was going to work and walked out to the car in my slip, but fortunately I noticed as I was getting into the car. 😂 But I had a few words to say to my husband, whom I'd spoken to and kissed good-bye on my way out, and he never noticed I wasn't wearing my skirt! 😀

No we have too much Emerson on issues I think so basements are very rare here. Also, we have so much space to spread out as a single story, it’s not really necessary for space either. I miss having one though!
Hi Chana! I used to make dump cake all the time. I would put a 12 or 16 oz bag of frozen fruit, any kind, in the pan, then a box of cake mix on top of that. Then I would add approximately 14 ozs of Coke Zero or Sprite Zero or some other zero soft drink. My husband loved it. His favorite was raspberry and chocolate cake with Coke Zero. He is diabetic now, and the artificial sweeteners in the mixes upset his stomach, so I need to figure out a way to make the cake part from scratch. Maybe for his birthday. Have a good week!
You know I think your recipe sounds better! Ours (to me and my husband, the kids loved it) tasted too much like butter.
Hi again! I was in Walmart yesterday, on the baking aisle, and I found a gluten free brownie mix made by Duncan Hines. It was also sugar free, sweetened with allulose. And it was kosher. I think I’m going to try making the dump cake with it. 😊

Sure! It’s just cold brew Black Rifle coffee, that I do almost half and half with raw milk. Super delicious!

Many years ago, cleaning houses...went to a 6 hour job, 3 hours in I sat down to finish my cold coffee. I suddenly realized...I was at the wrong house for that day. Yup. The correct one for that day was a 5 hour job. Yupper 🤦♀️ That's just one example of my many talents 😂😂😂 Also...in my neck of the woods...pigs in a blanket are hotdogs or sausage in pancakes - or - in cornmeal//deep fried or baked in muffin tins (super easy) All are served with maple syrup or jam 😋😋😋

Here in the UK pigs in blankets are sausages wrapped in bacon whilst sausages in puff pastry are simply called sausage rolls😊. Typically we have pigs in blankets with our Christmas Turkey dinner although obviously can have them any time of year. I love watching your meal prep and cooking as always interested in the sort of meals you eat over there compared to here in Wales. We call those beans chick peas 😉. Thanks for sharing x

I read a lot of British books and sausage rolls turn up often, but I didn't realize they were made with puff pastry. Thanks for clarifying that.
Where I grew up in California, pigs in blankets were sausages rolled in pancakes.

I love pancakes but as I have a sweet tooth I love them with syrup. I always put currants in mine and after cooked squeeze on lemon juice and roll in sugar! Yummy x

So I think of a task begin to walk into the next room to do that task and only do that task. And by the time I've walked into that room, I see something else that needs to be done and completely forget about the task. Yeah, forgetting... I feel ya!

Almost at 6 week mark of hip replacement. I will soon be able to drive !! I have been spoiled by everyone else cooking but to tell the truth I miss making the things we love...tacos, spaghetti, soups, etc...

I remember seeing a ticktok video on dump cake 😊 but the gluten-free version would be a good fit to try 😊 as I'm Celiac too 😊
So honestly it was more like a cobbler, and I didn’t love it. My husband and I thought it tasted too much like butter, but the kids couldn’t get enough of it lol. I think I might have liked different fruit better 🤷🏼♀️ it was fun to try, but I don’t think I’ll make it again
