  • The video game, Aliens Dark Descent, has a final level that introduces us to the Xeno City, a biomechanical city, that grew its inhabitants, the ancient citizens, who are an homage, and based on, the space jockey. The Xeno Titan, is the alien that uses the ancient citizens as a host.

    It took a video game based off alien to explain the jockey ! Damn you Ridley Scotch!🥃

    I have always had the idea of having the Space Jockeys be a separate race, NOT the Engineers. To me, in my idea, the Space Jockeys are the ones that created the Engineers as work drones, taken from primitive humans and augmented them in their development. The Engineers then were created through cloning and couldn't reproduce, and then at one time they rebelled against their creators, stole technology and scientific research from them as they escaped.
    The Engineers based their own tech on the designs of the Space Jockeys' tech, though the Space Jockey tech is BioMechanical and grown, while the Engineers' is mechanical and built. The Engineers go around the universe trying to solve their reproduction problem messing with other planets using the stolen Space Jockey research samples. One of the research samples they stole was a Xenomorph egg that the Space Jockeys discovered and DNA extractions that was done on the egg, with the result as the Black Pathogen Slime.
    The Engineers wrongfully think that the Xenomorph DNA Pathogen is their way of creating life and solve their reproduction problem. Elizabeth Shaw and her Boyfriend in PROMETHEUS wrongfully thought that the Engineers created humans, when in fact it was all the way around and the Engineers were made from Ancient Humans by the Space Jockeys. David does NOT create the Xenomorph, but aberrations based on the DNA Black Pathogen. The Xenomorphs are a very ancient race that went extinct, survived only by their eggs, which are timeless and the Space Jockeys discovered their remnants, meaning their eggs and took them. They were a product of evolution and not the creation of any race or robots, making them truly...alien.

      I wish we had the triology prequels following this lore. Would have been waaaay better than the 2 movies that barely explain anything at all.

      @@MrEunaoseinao Me too, and hopefully something like that may happen. I literally saw a video confirming that the director of the new Alien movie (Alien Romulus) Fede Álvarez sat down with Ridley Scott, to address the Xenomorph origins due to Disney disliking Scott's take on the story on his two movies. And as per the Director, Scott liked what they discussed. I summary, yes, the Space Jockeys are a separate race, they are not the Engineers.
      The Xenomorphs are an ancient species not created by either David nor the Engineers, they are a product of millions of years of evolution. Scott's films are side stories within the universe and the creatures in them are derived from the Xenomorph DNA, not Xenomorphs at all.
      And one freaking cool original thing, Director Noah Hawley in his ALIEN tv series came up with the idea that the human technology is not as modern as what we presently have or even more advance, because there was a super computer virus worldwide that cannot be eliminated, and affected human tech. The only 2 advanced ships in human tech were the PROMETHEUS and the COVENANT, only because Weyland Yutani spent trillions of dollars to make them. Those ships were the only 2 of a kind, and all tech is rather like in the 3 original films, grimy and sort of backwards for future standards. So Ridley Scott was apparently pleased with this, and now this is the lore of the ALIEN franchise.

      I like this school of thought. They should follow this. It would make the Alien feel even more cosmic horror and add more mystery to it.

    • @dickdastardly8089
      @dickdastardly8089 7 месяцев назад +6

      No, the space jockey is a different species. Ridley didn't really know what he was doing when he brought the engineers into existence. Two of the biggest differences that conclude they aren't the same is the space jockey was around 20+ feet tall on top of the fact that the derelict ship was more organic in terms of biomechanical tech. Whereas the engineers were more mechanical in terms of biomechanical tech. It's theorized that the engineers either stole or were inspired by space jockey tech. Also something that comes to mind is the space jockey is more of an elephantine design, another fact is the jockey on lv 426 had it's mouth open as if it was screaming in agony. The engineers mask doesn't have a mouth opening that would allow them to do this.

    got to callout the expanded universe art directions.
    even when the original design is uniquely "alien" and out of this world, to the point that these creatures looks like a seamless blend of mechanical and biological, most of the comic and game art directions can't help but make them more familiar and earthy. They changed the biomechanical design to be more insect-like for example. They made the space-jockey look like an obese middle-aged man with human skin and a balding spot. Hek.. they even gave them human proportions and human clothing. Oh look! the jockeys have a tube running down the face all the way to the chest! hmmm looks too unfamiliar, lets make it an actual elephant trunk!
    They say avatar, star-trek, etc made the aliens as "human" (or any other familiar earth animals) as possible so the audience can relate.. yeah okay I get it. But seeing that the majority of artist even try to swerve the alien franchise into that direction, despite it being famous for having very alien designs in the first place, makes me question that line of thinking.
