Good job. I have had three gorgeous Maltese. I used your way, too, and a tiny steel FACE comb with teeth close together to get eye boogies, and comb faces. The regular steel comb is way too big for the tiny faced fur-kids.
When I first wake up I put on my clothes whilst my doggo is still sleeping, then I brush my hair. She will usually be awake when I’m brushing my hair but if she’s not I just say her name and she sits up. I then brush her hair and just pick out the gunk with my fingers as it is still wet. @@YokoViper736 Have you taken her to the vet about this? Perhaps she has allergies of some sort. Is there hair irritating her eyes? If you are wiping her eyes twice a day and they still get like Bellas then there is something wrong and she should be seen by her vet.
I use warm water mixed with hydrogen peroxide pretty much on a daily basis and that takes care of the goop under the eyes- I use a baby toothbrush to brush away any residue- It works-
I first use tropiclean tearless facial wash and one the guck is soft I use the comb or a flea comb. Once its lean and dry I use a bravura mini clipper to remove all the hair. I also recommend for everyone to use the facial wash it keeps their face clean and smells delicious. It will also keep a shih Tzu's eyes clean. I feel it's too irritating to clear out the gunk when it's hard.
Yes, definitely clean the eyes every day. I had the same problem with mine😔Vet said tear ducts were clogging up. Got ointment that works well. That brown “crust” scratches the eyeball. Have a blessed day 😊
I clean my pooches eyes daily with the cotton rounds. I am very upset having to take a clipper to a dog's eyes due to the eye gunk build up. Yesterday-I had to remove it in the bath tub with water and a face cloth since it was black coat. I just couldn't take the risk of an injury. This is a repeat offender after I have spent a couple hours getting the dogs coat mat free and cleaned up because they don't do any maintenance in between grooms. Now Stella girl is sporting a no maintenance cut groomed on a #7F blade short-A/O. No trimmings anymore. I just hope it doesn't mean the owner opts to come in every 4 months versus 6-8 weeks which is recommended. Since it will be the same mess. I am trying to reach them so they come in more frequently-for less money and stress for their dogs. Stella is the same as Bella-a very good dog-
Seems silly to have to educate owners on not allowing eye boogers to build up on their dogs eyes but if they need to be educated about possible infections and basic care for their dog I imagine there is a diplomatic way to say " you really shouldn't allow eye boogers to build up! Clean the eyes daily and imagine how good they'll feel when you do."
I use flea/tick combs to remove eye discharge on my shih tzu, but make sure to do it when they are calm and grab their little head and then don’t pull hard just pull it a little then scoot it out with the comb and push it out
Good job with her that’s tricky to clean out with a shaver! She was really patient too! Cleaning everyday it’s necessary so that build up does not accumulate under the eyes like that ok!
Key word is DAILY. This poor little girl has weeks of eye buggers on her eyes. If you take the time (less than 60 seconds) to keep their eyes clean daily then there is no buildup or increase to the possibility of poking her in the eye with shears. You would never be able to do that cleaning on a dog who is not as good as she was. Bless her heart she is the perfect little thing while being groomed.
This statement is not true. That could be one or two days. Some Shih-tzus tear a lot. Mine had dry eyes and they were gooey all day long. Sometimes I would have to clean her eyes two or three times a day. Dry eye is very common in some breeds. I had to do eye drops twice a day and clean all day. Shih Tzu's are such awesome dogs. They are pretty docile and calm most of the time. Your Bella is so sweet. What a good girl!!!! She's obviously used to the loud noise of the clippers. I'm curious, why cut her hair out first before washing out the gunk with warm water? Doesn't groomers normally wash dogs first before cutting the dogs hair though?
Because wetting it,and saturating with water will make it even harder for the clippers to get through it.Also, you can get the area much cleaner, clipping the gunk out first, and then washing the area..In more severe cases,it may be necessary to wash some out first, but in Bellas case, its not as bad as it seems. Also, you want to try to get the gunk away from the eye prior to washing,to avoid any bacteria making its way into the eye while washing the area..causing an eye infection..Thanks for watching.
I do know that it's not best to use tissue, because even though it feels soft, the little fibers can get into the eye. I say this because some people think that they can just use tissue paper. Thanks so much very helpful.

Hey Mr.Cool, It is not uncommon. clipping under the eyes on a shihtzu can be a challenge. You can try to do little by little, even if u are able to clip a tinny bit a day, rather than try to do all at once, and lose his attention..you can try to hold some of his chin hair briefly,to hold his head still..if it becomes to much, and you feel u might cut him, maybe you can find a groomer, that could try it for you..let us know if u have any success. We are going to put out another shithtzu vid soon.Maybe it can help..Good Luck..

Wow, Bella might have allergy...could be food, air, hair of her own, whatever.. Her skin looked little bit of swollen. Aw, poor girl! You did wonderful! I use scissors to clip off the hair along with the booger- you called it “gook”. If it is way too close to the skin, I use wet warm cloth to leave on for a while, then use green flea comb, to scoop it out VERY GENTLY. Then I wash the green comb with alcohol and soap to make sure its clean. I saw someone said saline drops and other said olive oil... i am gonna try coconut oil bcz thats what I have. Thank you for your tips!!

You are so kind and gentle with her❤️🌸 I have a Shitzu and he was unfortunately lost for 6 LONG day's and night's. He's traumatized now by anyone going near his feet. His nails are long and I can't tell you how bad it makes me feel. I'm going to have the vet put him under to trim them and help with some other issues. Wish you were in my area. God bless you 🙏

What if my puppy is a puppy that moves a lot? What do you recommend she’s 3 months the vet told me to cut her hair around the eyes because she could get a infection
If there is a groomer there, who has experience with puppies, maybe you can ask if they can trim the hair out from under the eyes, even if you don't have them do a full grooming, for starters. If you don't feel comfortable there, see if you can seek out a local private groomer, preferably someone with a lot of grooming experience..
I found that even though my Shih Tzu's were difficult with all other aspects with their grooming - when I'd tell them to be still "you don't want me to poke you in the eye" seemed to always work! It seemed like they knew what I was telling them. Instead, of the short scissors', I'd use the longer one and angle them so that I could get their hair in the corner of their eyes right in the V part of the scissors, that way if they did happen to jerk, the pointy ends of the scissors would never be close to poke them in their eyes, if that makes sense.
I have a Havanese/Shih Tzu mix and am getting mixed info on whether or not to trim under her eyes (like for a shih tzu) or brush it down (for a havanese)
Jessica..If your dog has more of a Shih-Tzu coat, and a Shih-Tzu muzzle, you might want to clip the hair out from under the eyes.If he or she is more Hav,you may still want to clip out under the eyes, but i would opt to use a thinning shear,as opposed to using clippers like in this vid..Check out our ..How to keep your Shih-Tzu long..video..It might help you better.Thank You for watching..
Thank you for noticing mrcaloryfrio..We love Bella a lot,and she has grown to trust us to a level, where she will let us do anything, even get matted goop out from under her eyes..lol..Thank You for watching
My little guy 8-1/2 month old won't let me get anywhere near him with shears or scissors...Vet gave me meds to calm when he gets a groom...I hope how soon he won't need to do that
I would've cleaned or moisten it first. The previous owner of the puppy I just received looked like they didn't clean her face every day and now I think she has an eye infection cause of it. Be careful with their buldgy lil eyeballs!♡
Tell Bella's parents that if they only give her filtered water, her eyes won't stain. She will still get eye gunk but no staining of they eyes and mouth. I just use a Pür pitcher for filtered water. Neither my Bichon, or my Shorkie have stained fur anymore. ☺
We really appreciate you watching,we have alot more coming out.We also do comedy, and a talking paws segments. If you get a chance, check out our ..Day At The Dentist video..I actually called Bellas parents today, and gave them your suggestion..Thanks again.
Also can look on your food bag or can to check for any red, brown or blue food coloring that can stain white dog or pup's tears.I used to breed Bischons so I am sure this works. The companies just want it to look better for owners who are purchasing the food.
Does anyone have tips for getting hair that’s stuck in the eye out? I don’t wanna touch my baby’s eyeball and he only has so much patience before he snaps at me for spending too much time keeping his eye lid open so I can see better. I just don’t want him to be uncomfortable :(
What he heck is wrong with people? If you don't love your dog enough to clean its eyes no matter how many times you have to do it each day, or whatever measures are necessary, then you shouldn't have a dog. It's really not rocket science people! Would you like to be left with crap in the corners and under your eyes for days at a time, or in the case of Bella, probably weeks at a time? She's probably so glad to have it all taken off that's why she's such a trooper. The owners need a reality check.
Rudy, hope no body try to do this at home, because it it too danger! only the proffesional groomer can do this, I do it every 2,3 days to clean under the eye, with cloth warm water wet the area, wait til the it soft, slowly use my finger to get rid of the dirt there, if the hair is long, I cut with the little scissors that round at the edge, has to be slow and really becarefull, because you can poke the eye ball if the dog moving suddenly, specially if the dog dont like to be groom.I did it my self because I took a grooming class so I can groom my 4 dogs my self, after have bad experience with the last groomer.
Awwww She's so sweet! What kind of owner allows their dogs eyes get that filthy and disgusting?? Take more care people! My dogs have their own wash cloths and I clean their eyes at least once a day.
That is sooo sad those have to be painful!! I have 2 shih tzus and theirs get orange from excess tears but those Matt’s are EXTREMELY UNNECESSARY POOR LIL GIRL

He is looking a little sorrowful tonight but I don't know why, his eyes are a little sticky so I'll clean them as normal but the vet said his balls have dropped is that why he seems off? Operation booked for January and he's humping every teddy in the house in the meantime so why do I feel so guilty
I can tell you love him a lot..I totally understand the guilt feeling, but it's best for them..He is lucky to have you..Good luck with him,let us know how you make out..Thank you so much for watching us...
Beautiful lashes
What a sweet baby dog 🥰

Bella is such a good girl!
What do you do with difficult shih tzus that pull their heads away?
Isabella sweetie, you are a star❤💋how have you had the patience for that long? You are a gentle darling. I hope you will have the next session on time so, you wouldn't face that much, haha! I am going to ask my Shih Tzu boy groomer to shorten his facial hair. His fur grows like a magic. I clean his eyes and ears twice every day
Thank you so much for your kind comment and for watching us..We appreciate it..
I use the peanut for this. It works perfect!
Thanks Kq,who makes the peanut?
Grooming By Rudy I got the cordless peanut from Amazon, never gets the skin or nicks perfect
I keep hearing great things about the Peanut. Will be trying it out for sure! Thanks Kq
Kq Quin, what's "the peanut"? Where can I get one?
Go Bella!
So adorable. I have a puppy shih-tzu, and this was really helpful. Thank you!!
Nice job, could use you in my next of the woods. Where are you?
Thank You so much for your kind comment Rick..We are in New Jersey..
God bless you 🙏
Hey Gina,I am so sorry that he was lost, but I'm so glad he is back with you.He must have had a guardian angel by his side.I think in some short time he will be himself again..Thank You for your kind words. We try our best to help out as many doggies as we can..Thanks again, and God Bless You too..Let us know how he's making out..
My shihtzu becomes aggressive whenever I try to claar his face and eyes. Can I sedate him to clean his eyes area?
You can,but you would have to talk to a Veterinarian about that, and it may or may not help..I hope it works out for you..
That dog is so calm. My dog would freak out. I don’t know how the groomer do it.
What a good dog
Binge watching all ur videos. Lol❤️❤️❤️
screamingeorge...LOL..Thank You so much, that means so much to us..
cute dog
Thank You so much roger...She is one of our favorites..
But if I clean her everyday will the stains and smell go away?
What if my puppy is a puppy that moves a lot? What do you recommend she’s 3 months the vet told me to cut her hair around the eyes because she could get a infection
Hey Angela, Puppies moving a lot,is a very common problem. Is there a groomer in your area, that might be able to trim the hair out?
Yes in petsmart
That makes perfect sense..Are you a groomer?
Is that o.k. If I try to put Vaseline where it’s dry because warm water don’t work. My dog had a eyes surgery but it’s still dripping and hardening!
Sweetheart Bella.Nice job Rudy!
She’s such a good girl
I'm trying to clean my pup's eyes but he's not as calm as bella. Idk what to do
Scary to do that...not all dogs act like that...,shes so calm..
You can see she really feels good with you.
Thank you for noticing mrcaloryfrio..We love Bella a lot,and she has grown to trust us to a level, where she will let us do anything, even get matted goop out from under her eyes..lol..Thank You for watching
🙏
Thank You so much
Why let her eyes get so bad??
Clean them daily.
I thought of the same thing at frst. Pet is a serioUS responsibility!!
My little guy 8-1/2 month old won't let me get anywhere near him with shears or scissors...Vet gave me meds to calm when he gets a groom...I hope how soon he won't need to do that
Why aren't you soaking and softening the matter before cutting?
What a good baby.
I would've cleaned or moisten it first. The previous owner of the puppy I just received looked like they didn't clean her face every day and now I think she has an eye infection cause of it. Be careful with their buldgy lil eyeballs!♡
Sometimes I just use a baby wipe to moisten it, and in about five minutes I can just remove it with my fingers.
Tell Bella's parents that if they only give her filtered water, her eyes won't stain. She will still get eye gunk but no staining of they eyes and mouth. I just use a Pür pitcher for filtered water. Neither my Bichon, or my Shorkie have stained fur anymore. ☺
Thank You Dani...
Grooming By Rudy Thank you so much for your tutorials!
We really appreciate you watching,we have alot more coming out.We also do comedy, and a talking paws segments. If you get a chance, check out our ..Day At The Dentist video..I actually called Bellas parents today, and gave them your suggestion..Thanks again.
Grooming By Rudy Thank you, and I will check that out!
Also can look on your food bag or can to check for any red, brown or blue food coloring that can stain white dog or pup's tears.I used to breed Bischons so I am sure this works. The companies just want it to look better for owners who are purchasing the food.
Amore❤
The owners need a reality check.
why would you let it get that bad in the first place , i clean my dogs face daily
GOOD QUESTION THAT HAS NO GOOD ANSWER!
😍
Hi BellaMarie, you're such a good girl 💗
Lenny Marsidi aw
...pretty girl.
Thank You southpaw, she is one of our favorites..
Hair in mouth causes dental rot on teeth. Must keep hair cut around mouth.
Bella thought he was talking to her
Lol!!!
