- Trying out another wired-to-wireless CarPlay adapter. This time we have #CarlinKit 3.0 (U2W Plus) to check. This device will convert almost any wired #CarPlay system into wireless setup. Installation is very easy, basically it's plug&play. Phone pairing is as easy as searching for new bluetooth device from your iPhone. Tested it for few weeks and had no issues with it what so ever. It boots up quickly, connects to phone without any delay, sound is clear, no audio drops or tearing. Audio delay is noticeable when the device is set to factory defaults, but I believe it can be fixed after adjusting sound buffer size in advanced settings menu.
🚗 This CarlinKit converter was tested in 2016 VW Golf MK7 equipped with MIB2 infotainment system (MIB2 Discover Media). Car was equipped with AppConnect. CarlinKit support most factory and aftermarket systems with wired CarPlay. I found one exception which is BMW. For some reason BMW cars are not listed as supported.

Great video! I watched others but you made a very precise and detailed video! I want to use that and a wireless charge, do you think there will be any issues?
Absolutely not. But it could in theory slowly but surely deplete the phone (a few percents an hour) just because wireless charging isn't very efficient.

Hello, thanks for video. I wanna get this device but i read a comment on Amazon which says "however it does suffer lag and this is noticable when using maps. Most of the time the lag is not noticable but occasionally it can be behind by as much as 30 seconds so the position it shows you at is the position you were 30 seconds ago;" so, did you try to use Google Maps or Apple Maps? Is it really laggy?
Hello . Thanks for your great videos . I have a Carlin kit 4.0 installed . Its working great so far . The only issue I’m having is that it says it will disconnect me from Carlin CarPlay if I join my car’s WiFi hotspot? Is there a way around this ? Thanks v much again

Am i able to wirelessly connect my iPhone to this for maps & what not, but still be able to directly plug in the aux to my lightening port on my iPhone for bit perfect audio playback right to aux? Rather than using the DAC built into this portable unit??

Can you please tell me if you can fast-forward songs in for example Spotify by long-pressing the steering wheel buttons? I have a MK7 GTE and it did not work with the older Carlinkit 2.0 (and older firmware). I dont have the adapter anymore so I havent tested the latest firmwares.

Can you get test more that GPS option? I am not using phone navigation in my VW, because GPS on my iPhone is worse (slower, in tunnels not working etc.). It would be great if iPhone can really use the car’s built in GPS.
Just got mine. It works great with my golf r factory radio. better than expected and boots up quick. my only compliant is when I start the car the music and podcast dont always automatically play. thats minor compliant tho

Nice review! My question is about sound quality. I own mk7 fl golf with mib2.5 discover media unit, the sound quality of the bluetooth connection is much-much higher in comprising to wired CarPlay. So, would you mind to write some words about sound quality using with dongle? Thanks!
There are some advanced settings for the audio quality (option to switch between CD and DVD which is unclear. I would rather know the bitrates). But to be honest in my car with stock audio setup and no sound deadening it doesn't make that much of a difference.

Just got the 4.0 that the site says is compatible with my WV Jetta, but when I plug it in nothing happens. Connects to my wife’s Kia with no issues.
The site and manual suggests changing a setting on the device, but you need to connect with the device via WiFi and they don’t tell you how. The directions simply say “phone connects to device WiFi” as if such a connection happens automatically when it doesn’t. No WiFi hotspot for the device appears when trying to connect.
I have a 2021 Nissan and my car logo does not appear on the screen and in Bluetooth my Nissan said it is not connected. It works but it keeps blinking green

How did you route the cable for your charger through the vent? I have a VW Atlas and would like to do that.
Removed the trim around the display, drilled a 5mm hole inside the air vent for the USB cable, guided the cable to cabin fusebox.

I wonder how well it will work with an Andorid head unit using and iPhone and the wireless Apple CarPlay.
I believe there's a different device available for Android units. But I personally have no experience with them yet.
If you want to use the wireless function on your Android phone, you first check whether your Android phone has a wireless function

W listopadzie wrzucę porównanie wszystkich urządzeń. Jest ich trochę, więc będzie z czego wybierać.

AFAIK there’s just one, with limited availability. Not sure if it’s any good.
AAWireless is fantastic but there is currently supply issues so you’ll see a delay.

MIB1 nie ma AppConnect, czyli nie ma CarPlay, czyli niestety nie zadziała na nim.

If your car is CarPlay enabled (you have AppConnect icon in the menu and you can use CarPlay via USB cable) - yes.

No delays there.
Is it possible to connect 2 devices to it? In that case that a car is shared between me and other person?
You can have more phones in the device memory, but only one at the time will work. I personally have two (me + wife) paired with the device and whoever is using the car, the device connects with the nearby phone.

Dam znać. Mam jeszcze jeden adapter z tej samej firmy, ale inny model. Dzisiaj go podpiąłem do auta i za tydzień/dwa wrzucę kolejny filmik.

Not with this adapter. But there are other devices which allow to do that.

Seems like the unit gets pretty hot when it’s on. Is there any issues regarding that?
Have not noticed. You can go into advanced settings and force lower framerate. It should bring the temperature down.

There is something but I haven’t tried it yet, so can’t really tell if it’s any good.

MIB1 does not have AppConnect, which features CarPlay.

Never seen anything for wireless MirrorLink. Not sure if it’s possible. But one of my older devices supported ScreenCast.

This is an wired-to-wireless adapter. It requires your vehicle to already have wired CarPlay working.

RUclips and Nerflix limitated is in the phone. Not in the car or the dongle. If you jailbreak your phone, you can remove the restriction from it.

Does the phone still charge?
Phone will not charge if it's not connected to the USB port or placed on a wireless charger. This device only provides wireless CarPlay connection.
