Matthew Figo And yet you still found time to go through this video and make a comment. Like he said Janet is the Empress of Pop! She will always be a LEGEND!
Oh hell yes. I remember being 18 and Janet was everywhere. I played the tape in the car none stop😆😅😂 Love me some Ms.Jackson and thats Janet if your Nasty.
This song and video was on heavy rotation around the world this song and video holds up even today Janet was ahead of her time and in today society this song is needed.
You need to watch the whole short film to really get it. The whole short film included "Miss you Much" " the Knowledge " and "Rhythm Nation". Rhythm Nation is timeless if you think of the relevancy it has today. Another song that you should check out that too has relevancy today is En Vogue "Free Your Mind", that too has a video could easily be released today.
YES YES YES! Jesus FINALLY someone else mentioned that song from En Vogue!!!! Chili Peppers Power of Equality So many others that I cannot think of off the top of my head. Janet truly began a movement of the time with this single, album, short film, and all of it.
Mooooore Janet please! That's The Way Love Goes Miss You Much Love Will Never Do I Get So Lonely IF Again Anytime, Anyplace Control Go Deep Throb Got Til It's Gone
Janet's first fully socially conscience lyrical content in song. The song is even more relevant in 2020 than in 1989. On the album, it is followed by very similar songs "State Of The World" and my favourite, "The Knowledge" which she performed live fabulously in concert.
The more people I see reacting to 90s singers, the more I realize that some kind of break happened at the millenium. Feminist and engaged artists (Janet Jackson, Madonna, Rage against the machine, the whole grunge gang, the hip hop pioneers) gave way to candy / fast food / sexualized pop... we listened to those as teens, so we fall a bit off our chairs today, seeing you guys discovering these gems. Even with 70s and 80s disco, with actual musicians and actual instruments... But hey, happy you found the goldmine! ;) thanks for your work, man!
Let's not forget that basis of this song was a sample of Sly and the Family Stone's THANK YOU FALETTINME BE MICE ELF AGIN. Jam and Lewis sampled the mid section of that song. But, they likely didn't have to go through much trouble clearing the sample since Michael also owned the publishing rights to Sly's music as well at the time. But, here's the original song: ruclips.net/video/N5BP2KlPD4U/видео.html
You are so right. You are the only one that got what she was singing about that you understood, all the other ones who were watching the video didn't understand what the song was about kudos to you
This wasn't just a dance video....it was an artistic achievement. And in hindsight she exuded both masculinity in it's military movement but balanced it with her angelic voice. And she had the #1 selling pop record without showing any skin. It was Earnest, meaningful, and as of 2021 more relevant than ever. Sing it for the babies is right.
This was an awesome video. Michael Jackson step aside for little while, and let your little sister do your thing -- I mean her thing! And she did it very well here. She even discovered a hearty rock-and-soul voice within herself. The choreography was amazing. She asked her brother Michael to help her with this choreography. He suggested a more military style, and it worked! And she worked the hell out of it!
Also, if the kid in the video looks a bit familiar, that's because he would go on to star in MENACE II SOCIETY in 1993. The kid is actor Tyrin Turner (now famous for portraying the character Caine in MENACE II SOCIETY as well as Rico in BELLY).
Hello buddy 👋 I couldn't tell it was you lol 😊 she's brilliant awesome amazing woman she can dance sing like her amazing mj!!!! She's back in 2022 look out for it ok
You should listen to Black cat, Nasty, Escapade, Miss you much. Same time and so good :) Of course also If and That's the way love goes. You'll get a kick out of Rope burn. What about is one of my faves. Just so personal and heartbreaking.
The album addressed so many social issues without whining about them, Janet just told us to get up out of our chairs and do something. About this song in particular, friend asked why she allowed her fantastic voice to be overwhelmed by the backing vocals in so much of this song. I told him to just listen to it, his realised it was all about a unified voice which also explained the uniforms worn in the video. Janet really thought this through.
I’ve always said, Michael didn’t have anything on his little sis. Both Top Notch/legend performers. Also, we got to recognize and give our props to Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis from the Time. Incredible, hitmaker, legendary song writers from the 80s and 90s. They wrote so many hits for many different R &B and pop artist. The dynamic duo, + Ms Jackson = The dynamic trio.👍👍👍. Mark my words, these jams will be timeless just as Motown’s stuff.
It's great to see everyone enjoy Janet's work. Here is the link to the full Rhythm Nation movie so you can see how it fits together. ruclips.net/video/NF-0w90WTJY/видео.html
This rhythm is off the hook - love it! The dancing is SO COOL / I actually prefer Janet to Michael , but I love Love them both and always list3n ---second only to MADONNA 👍😎
Paula only choreographed 3 videos on Control album.. A man Anthony Thomas choreographed this video......y'all give Paula Abdul too much credit for Janet dance videos
The entire Rhythm Nation 1814 album is AMAZING! Every song on it deals with social issues. The entire album is as relevant now as it was in 1989 when came put.
It seems like u don't understand this song And what it did for millions of Americans.... in 1989 it was speaking to shooting, poverty racial injustice all the themes that allowed her to tour off the rhythm nation cd 30 years later to sold out venues across the world
I think these reaction videos would be better if the hosts would do a little research on the videos and music. Know the album, know that the beat is a sample, know that this video is part of a video film and was revolutionary at the time. Not to mention, how relevant this song and album is today.
You put your head down the moment some good dance moves came up. But I don't think you saw him because you looked up like you're looking at your computer after that section of dancing. Just an observation LOL
This song is more relevant now than ever.
Facts!!!!!
This whole Album is so relevant today. "The Knowledge" can be the anthem of today.

Saw her 2 times excellent!! Try some Donna Summer if you want some dance. I Feel Love - Timeless!
As relevant as it was back in 1989, with the black man killed by police officer in 2020.
Yes! Very relevant with Black MEN *and* WOMEN being killed & targeted by police for centuries

I always thought Paula choreographed this video, I know she worked with Janet a lot.

If you want a good laugh, check out Joseph Gordon Levitt, performing to this song on Lip-Sync Battle!!
I subscribed....I think you are awesome!
Check out Janet's "If" video. The song and visuals are sick! Very sexy.
The boy in the video is actor Tyrin Turner.
I love this video but do prefer 90's Janet ("That's The Way Love Goes", "If", "Together Again", "Runaway"... among many other amazing videos).
Joseph Gordon-Levitt killed this on LSB!
Have a listen to IF the video is amazing.
Dereck reacts to I need a man Eurythmics. This is janet at her best

Janet was in the shadow of a giant mega star who shared the same surname
She was better imo
