    Rick, credit to you too, remaining in control! A couple of years ago I had a 5 series BMW turn across the front of me on a back road in Singapore, where I live right now. I was on my project bike - 2005 Gen 1 Hayabusa. I locked the front wheel (no ABS) and proceeded to remodel the front of the car. I've learned a lot about braking that day and came to appreciate the ABS on my 2018 Tiger a whole lot more. Needless to say, the tech on a bike makes a lot of difference but good riding skills are not replaced by them. 👍👍

      As much as I know there’s ABS, you’re right it has taught me a lot about how a bike feels under heavy braking

    Your man in the truck was definitely on your side of the road but also, you were going too fast when approaching the corner. You were really lucky the bike was able to stop in time.
    When I were a lad, Moto Morini had V-Twin engines and were made in Italy..........

      The bike was an absolute gem in the situation, I know it’s mostly built in China but the design and final fitting is still carried out in Italy! Someone definitely has done some testing of the frame with different parts and found a setup which is very complimentary to the bike.

    A week ago with the road king got a van backing up full speed out of a parking .... The Harley abs worked a little too well... The bike didn't break , bit didn't lock.... I need to learn to continue steering under heavy abs breaking.

      I feel it’s a fine art, and not something I feel that I could reliably do for every situation… but I do think we are both on the same page that our experiences have made us want to be better riders!

    Dont want to take away from the fact that the lorry driver shouldnt have done what he did. But you approached that way too fast. I was surprised when watching the footage at how fast you approached that junction. Anyways, excellent looking bike, I am interested in acquiring one and thereby came upon this video.

      I’ve looked back at this video a couple of times and I think we can both agree that my speed was too fast for how much time is required to react for the road.
      Looking at my riding throughout the video, I’m not riding to be in excess of the speed limit or find the upper limits of the bike. I’ve suffered from being too familiar with the road and junction knowing that you can see far to the left at the road opens and you’re able to carry speed, but should also be prepared to stop. The downside is that “bottleneck or visibility before the junction opens limits the view and I feel like I’ve learned from the experience and changed my perception.
      That aside, the bike was really enjoyable to ride, very light and agile for an adventure bike and impressive level of kit as standard! Enjoy!!

    Lorry driver was being lazy and cutting the corner. Motorcycle rider was taken by surprise by it, so a failure of hazard perception on his part. ABS would appear to have saved the day.

    i dont knw how you have stay that calm in this kind of situation... this morini x cape is pretty and seems to be reliable if its like my versys 650 :) how is it for the passenger ?

      @rick.cutler  10 месяцев назад +2

      Part of me thought about turning round and chasing the truck down to give him a stern talking to, but it’s never worth the time or drama. Hopefully he saw how dangerous his driving was and will think twice next time!
      As for the passenger, I didn’t get to take a pillion on the back, but the cushioning in the seat was pretty comfortable and the rear seat was a good generous size! Hope this helps!!

      I should also point out the Moto Morini may have “borrowed” the 650 parallel twin from Kawasaki for this and a couple of other bikes - it’s the ER6 / Versys engine Moto Morini are using in this bike and their STR + SCR, so you know the engines are bulletproof! 😎👍

    CARRS BILLINGTON This is one of your “Drivers” If this rider had not been as good as he is you would be looking at a manslaughter charge for Dangerous Driving and this video would have put your driver in prison and you out of business this is not just a lucky escape this is something that should change the way you run your business. Incompetence runs from the top down.

      That truck driver would not have passed their test if they'd have driven like that though. I would have had to get the reg plate & report them to their employer. It's dangerous driving & puts others at risk.
