- The surprise Kentucky Derby winner War Emblem found himself at Belmont Park with a chance to take the Triple Crown. A confirmed front-runner, he stumbled badly at the start, virtually eliminating his chances. That set it up for an upset and what an upset it was. 70-1 Sarava who won the Belmont, becoming the longest-priced winner at $142.50 in the history of the race.

Met Sarava at Old friends, War Emblem just moved there too from Japan! Sarava Is just a sweetie that loves those carrots and seems real happy. I am so happy both Sarava and Emblem are both having a great retirement.
💔R.I.P Old Boy
I will always remember Sarava's trainer Ken McPeek's words discovered within the bowels of the DRF on that unforgettable Belmont day: "He'll get the distance. The only question is will he be fast enough." I didn't believe in War Emblem - McPeek's words led me to bet Sarava across the board.
Named my daughter Sarava.! 70/1 odds.. . Ha,., Best kid ever.
I won as well. I was jumping up and down hugging my friend. I had 20 on it as well.
I really thought he was going to win. I watched all pre race coverage and felt it. My friend thought I was nuts. I won I'll have another last year in Kentucky. Only bet on 4 races in my entire career.
Bet four races ? Dude you ever think about playing a pick 6 ? If you do I'm in on it. Your to lucky,
Sarava looks Fabulous at his home at Old Friends, a thoroughbred retirement farm near Lexington, KY. I visited him on 7/30/13, and he is handsome as ever, and appreciated all the carrots. What a tour at this farm, over two hours feeding carrots to champs like him while listening to their accomplishments. GO, go go if you get the chance. Commentator is there; Gulch; and Tinner's Way, who is a son of Secretariat. WHen will you get that chance again?
If the horse took only your carrots you could say he was appreciative.
Kudos to edgar prado. He knows how to win

RIP Sarava
Since 2000, only 20% of favorites have won the Belmont. With that fact in mind, if the favorite doesn't make it, who you gonna call?
There is no sport as exciting as horse racing love thoroughbred horse racing!!

This race proves that when betting on a race, you can't go by the odds. For most bettors, Sarava was a long shot. But long shots do win and that has nothing to do with the odds. On that day Sarava was the best horse and proved that in any race involving a field of horses that are more or less evenly matched, any horse can win.
In a few words, there is no logic in picking horses.
I'll not forget Penny Chenery's words on that note. Every now & again, a horse, any horse, feels real game & lots of run. Donerail, Sarava, Richie..
