Is this issue related to fan switch sensor or something else ?

      Hi. I was specifically referring to the 2005 Accord and upward for the 7th gen. The Acura may be different. Just go ahead and replace the exact part you took out. Should have the part number on it. For even more assurance, plug your VIN into hondapartsnow.com and search for the part. The part number of what you find is what you should use.

      On things like this, I ALWAYS use OEM parts. Mine was turning on at 100oC before replacement. After replacement with OEM, it started turning on at 98oC. Is your car a 2005 and above? If so, it also has an additional coolant temperature sensor mounted close to the thermostat. You may need to replace that too. I would recommend you use OEM.

      Thanks for the compliment.
      A couple things can cause the cooling fans to run constantly even in cold weather: bad fan switch, stuck cooling fan relay or the ECM thinks the AC compressor is on. For a bad fan switch, check the temperature reading of the coolant and the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor. Both should be identical when the car is cold. You can check this via live data using most basic scan tools. If the coolant temp is significantly above IAT and ambient temperature, it's bad. For a stuck relay, just swap the cooling fan relay with an identical one in the fuse box (if available), if it works normally, it's the relay. For the ECM thinking the AC is on, again AC module live data will display the status of the AC compressor clutch. It should be OFF if the AC is off. For this one you will need a more advanced tool with access to the AC system. Could be the compressor clutch relay. You can start with the 1st 2 though.

    • @DIYAutoworksNG
      @DIYAutoworksNG  Год назад +1

      You'll need to monitor the coolant temperature via livedata to establish the temp is reaching the temperature at which the fan should come on. If the ambient temperature is very cold it will take a longer time for the radiator fan to come on during idling.

      Thank you very much for the repyI appreciate it legend
      The relays seems okay and fuses seem okay. Fan harness and connects seem to test okay
      Additional testing after testing all fuses and relays
      The fans do turn on around 105° Celsius+ (ECT temp on scantool livedata) and turn off around there too around 105°
      Most likely cause will be my switch? (Located in radiator fan next too out large coolant tube at bottom)
      As Temp sensor is reading correctly? (I believe) and matching dash reading
      Does this sound like the right path?
      Or would the Thermostat be the issues at all? Opening too late?
      When running idle the top coplang hose will get hot and the bottom one will take some time to heat up usually can hold it for a while but does heat up and get hot at a point.
      ^ would that indicate the Thermostat is okay (normal operation) or not okay
      Water pump seems okay as hot air will come out of aircon

    • @DIYAutoworksNG
      @DIYAutoworksNG  2 года назад

      Hello. The fan should be off except if it gets above operating temp. This will take several minutes of idling. Are you able to read the coolant temperature via live data?
      What kind of smoke are you referring to? From the engine or exhaust?

    • @felixalicea9326

      @@DIYAutoworksNG yeah even when my car has been idling for 35-40 min the fans never cut on until I turn my AC on and from the engine kind of looks like it’s coming from the middle of the radiator

    • @DIYAutoworksNG
      @DIYAutoworksNG  2 года назад

      There are a number of things you would need to troubleshoot correctly since they are a couple potential culprits... I suggest reading live data with any scan tool to determine if the car gets up to operating temperature (around 90oC). Does the temperature exceed the middle mark? If it goes past operating temperature and crosses the mid mark substantially, you could have a bad radiator fan relay, radiator fan switch etc. If it takes a long while before it comes on, you may have a stuck open thermostat.
      Establishing where it gets to in terms of temperature is paramount.

    • @DIYAutoworksNG
      @DIYAutoworksNG  2 года назад

      This could be a number of things, sticky cooling fan relay, car temp doesn't drop below the threshold for the fans to turn off (overheating issue), AC is left on etc.
      Can you confirm this is with the AC off? If so I suggest checking coolant temp via live data check for what temp at which the fans come on. Also check the temp it stays at. When the fans come on (without the AC) it should turn off when thr coolant temp drops by about 4-5oC.
      If the temp drops by around this number but the fans stay on, my money is on a sticky fan relay that has a short. You will have to change it, engine fuse box.
