      Hey! Just a quick note, while laundry sheets are good for the environment in some ways (easier to transport because of no water therefore less pollution ect) they can have the downfall of producing microplastics when used! Really no solution is perfect at this point unfortunately. Buying from a bulk refiller is also an okay option :)

    I noticed your dryer vent tube is a little long. You might want to trim it so there are no big bends where lint will accumulate. A straight shot is the most efficient way to vent and the clothes will actually dry faster too.

      And helps to prevent fires!

    • @Val-rv3rq
      @Val-rv3rq 9 месяцев назад +3

      It would also have been great to see Graham or you use the vacuum to clean out the dryer vent tube during this renovation, as it is so hard to reach and is a common cause of house fires. They also make a special tool for you to push down below the filter to get some lint out of there, s well. You could have used it and made room for it on the shelves. Your videos often cover safety issues; I wish you'd done it here. Everything is lovely, but safety comes first!

    🙋🏾‍♀️ I can totally relate to Alexandra, I clean my lint filter regularly but I place it in a lint container, that hangs above my dyer in my laundryroom. That get's emptied about once a month. Been doing this 20+ years.

    Hear me out here...
    Build a folding table that attaches to the banister hand rail via a channel that drops over it.
    The table top attaches with a piano hinge to the channel.
    The table top folds down towards the spindles with the two table legs folding up under the tabletop (use locking hardware).
    Line the channel that goes over the railing with leather to protect the banister.
    Now you have a fold away folding table!
    PS - I have a garbage can just for lint disposal and a small brush to really clean the screen.
    In the US that flexible dryer hose is not recommended for use due to the amount of lint that builds up in the little folds. Dryers cause a large percentage of home fires.
    The laundry closet is really cute - and those waves totally made it!

    • @LyrelPrice
      @LyrelPrice Месяц назад

      Also, it is my understanding that the dryer sheets also cause some of the dryer fires - don't keep reusing them

    You're not alone in this! I keep a small (bathroom-sized) waste bin next to my dryer for tossing lint into, and I empty that smaller bin into the regular household garbage right before I put the garbage out to the curb. It's basically like keeping it in a basket, just mine is a small wastebasket instead of a cute storage basket. 🙂

    I’ll put my two cents in re the laundry lint ~ I used to keep a clear plastic produce bag hanging on a cup hook. When full, I tied off the top and put it in the outdoor garbage. Now I use the smallest white solid plastic bathroom garbage can I could find (I found the size I wanted at Walmart) and I line it with the same produce bags I used to use. It sits on the floor next to the dryer. The opening is larger so it’s much easier for me to drop and toss instead of wrestling open the twisted shut bag. 🦋

So despite the outside garbage being literally right outside the door to the laundry-entryway - opening that door is too much of a barrier. I have a ‘lint bin’ in my laundry closet- not a basket, just a small bin that hangs on the wall near my dryer. I empty the lint tray each time I use the dryer and stick it in there. Sometimes that is discarded, but I save a good portion for the Spring. I put lint and yarn scraps in a wire box outside for birds to use for nesting material. You’d be surprised how quickly it will disappear! And it’s fun to watch the birds take what they need.

It could go on the side of someone's dryer, if they prefer. I clean my lint catcher every time I use the dryer, but I don't run to the trash can every time. Seeing Alexandra struggling with the laundry detergent jug confirms yet again how much more convenient laundry detergent sheets are. A cardboard box of sheets for almost a hundred loads takes up less space than a DVD case and weighs much the same. There are at least two Canadian brands that are also vegan (uses no animal ingredients) and cruelty free (not tested on animals). They're also plastic free like her deodorant. The brand I use cleans great too! I'm never going back.
    Though for Alexandra to switch would mean SO MUCH empty space on those shelves! Storage for outdoor furniture covers?

      @janetwalker3541 9 месяцев назад

      Sylvia it's funny that you say the birds won't use lint for their nests cause guess what? They built nests in our dryer vent at the back of our condo. They pulled the mesh covering off it and built their nest there. The condo board won't replace the cover, so we gently removed the birds nest and replaced the cover with a new securer one ourselves.

    • @Pandamomentum
      @Pandamomentum 9 месяцев назад

      @@janetwalker3541 I didn't say they won't use it, I said it's not good nesting material. I think we agree that a dryer vent is not an appropriate place for a bird to nest, but they don't know that, since dryer vents, like dryer lint, don't occur in nature. Just like you removed those birds and secured your vent to keep them safe, we should not put out a poor nesting material such as lint.
