I just had my auto mechanic replace both lower control arms because the boots automatically are on them. My question is is an axle boot on a lower control arm the same as a CV boot?
Autozone or O reileys. They have lifetime warranty replacement which is an amazing deal. Took a picture of my receipt(which wasn't needed bc they save the receipt in the system with your phone number acc if u have one with the store. Can always just find ur receipt with ur phone number). Just replace all 4 struts and 2 front lower control arm. Replacing my rack & Pinion tomorrow. Set for life. Also have lifetime unlimited alignment with Firestone so everytime I replace these I get free alignment.
They were not OEM but when it comes to a large chunk of steel part, you cant go wrong, besides the bushings, Never had an issue with them while owning the car.
@@ElectricMilesLLCyou won’t have to actually. It’s a main suspension part that has no steering capabilities. Meaning it has nothing to do with your steering geometry unless it’s longer or shorter than the oem replacement.
If the transmission is in the way, you'll probably have to lower the subframe so the bolt will clear the transmission. The rest of the install is the same.
My neighbor replaced my control arms on my celica and immediately after, the cars alignment was really bad, i couldn't even drive it. I think he tighten the arms up in the air. Steering is really awkward and feels floaty. Would improper preloading of the bushings be the cause? Because i think they would :/
@@ElectricMilesLLC yeah even after alignment it was still slightly pulling to one side randomly. After driving with the new struts and control arms, breaking them in, the random pulling/bumpsteer feeling has been slightly reduced but still there. There is no noise such as clicking or clunking. I wonder if the shop just didnt do the alignment properly but I'm thinking its either the new lower control arms causing it or something else is worn out. Thanks for the reply
Good job 👏 your video is much better than the other guys. I have a 01 corolla, it looks similar
Yes, it will likely be the same procedure.

What name brand of control arms and how have they held up?

The front bushing bolt feels like it has a spring on other/in side, clanking
The bolt you used breaker bar for …
I just sat and watched this whole video... I dont even have a celica lol
lol
Will I need an alignment after this?
Yes

You guys got for automatic transmission control arms replacement video?
Unfortunately no, this is my only car.

Thank You!
Your Welcome, chek out some of my other fix videos!
The two big long bolts for the front control arm are actually 101 foot pounds, not 116. 116 is for the front subframe bolts.
Scooter handle = ultimate cheater bar! Mind blown!

Im not exactly sure. maybe the old ones where slightly bent and the new ones are perfectly straight. Alignments are only $80 from most tire shops.
