This game was terrifying in a way I don’t think I’ve ever been terrified in a game since. The atmosphere, how alone it made you feel, the creepy screams you’d hear and howls of crap in the distance. The fact that you were navigating through some creepy motel at night and had no clue what was behind the next door. I gotta say this game was way more terrifying than resident evil. It was so challenging too compared to resident evil that you really had to think about which weapons and PE abilities to bring. Back then strategy guides online were just being realized so I spent many countless nights across months trying to beat this. Sometimes I even had friends over for sleep overs and they would spend hours trying to beat a part we were stuck on. I would love to go back in time to the moment I first realized and played this game. They just don’t make games like this anymore. Everything is all flash and gore and big booms and no substance. The only game that even came close was dead space from 2 console generations ago and bloodborne.
I think Stephen King described that feeling best: Horror is seeing the monster, a dead body, or being confronted by the enemy face on. Terror, on the other hand, _is the premonition of horror:_ The creaking of a door in a place you believed to be empty, seeing bloodstains but there's nobody around, your surroundings suddenly going mute at a degree you can hear only your footsteps and heartbeat. Horror might prepare you to either fight or flee, but with terror, _the enemy is inside your head and you can't escape its grasp._ So while in RE you're already primed up to fight or escape, in some parts of this game _the game messes with you by making you feel safe when you aren't, or pumping you up for no reason because there is no monster around,_ but you will never know which is which until you push yourself forward. That's precisely what made Silent Hill PT one, if not _the,_ most pants-shitting game experience ever being made. _And that was just a freaking demo Capcom dropped, the fools._
Back then where "horror" scifi games were still limited in titles and numbers and capabilities, such as Resident Evil, Alone in the Dark, Dino Crisis and Silent Hill (at least what's physically available at the store), and the gamers were young and never played serious game like this, it was like venturing new land of gaming. What an awesome experience.
Everything was so mysterious back then, limited access to the internet, and local gaming community filled with rumor, you never know what you are facing with ot what's the story is clearly about. That's make the horror work back in those days.

Theme song isnt as memorable as the first one IMO, but sounded ok. As for the game itself, I remember how excited I was when I got my hands on it for the first time. It didn't live up to my expectations, and definitely prefer the original over the sequel. In saying that, it is a good game on it's own, with very impressive cutscenes throughout the game.
