Silent Hill 2 is my favorite on the series, but Silent Hill 3 is second without a doubt. It's so good they brought all the religious stuff back, the Heather's character is great, the soundtrack is as good as SH2. And, it's the scariest silent hill in my opinion. Also... I love Douglas.

Silent Hill: Homecoming - Don't live anywhere near a town that's connected with Silent Hill. Especially when you're to be sacrificed to keep the cults Order in tact. Silent Hill: Downpour - Vengeance doesn't bring back a loved one. Also, prison is hell.

If you want to play very good Silent Hill games, play Silent Hill 1, 2, and 3. That is the golden era of Silent Hill. Why? Because they had very good music, writing, characters and in some cases good graphics (especially for Silent Hill 3).

Well, to be fair, the HD collection ruined a _lot_ of what made these games worth playing. Luckily the PS2 iso of the original directors cut both exists and is very easy to get running.

When the sky was blue and the fields were green. I thought i would meet someone who loves this game as much as me back in the day, and to this day. But it never happened. They don't make games such as these anymore, not even close. This was the last good Silent Hill, everything after that is just below average. This was the perfect opener for a perfect game. Even as a kid i loved the OST more than anything when it comes to music, along with the unofficial ambient/drone selection soundtrack.
a few games after 3 were pretty good, but not as spectacular. i probably have the unpopular opinion here, but i really liked shattered memories a lot. the room was good, too, and origins had an interesting plot. 3 is probably my fav, though.
Heather is cheeky and tough, yet she can be emotional too while i get her to kick a monster in the groin 5 or six times. After she kills Claudia she doesn't do a victory dance. She falls to her knees and cries for her dad. This "demon" is the sweetest daughter ever. Rest in peace dad...

and i will add, that the only part that tickled my jaded self-was at the very end. not the fact that they hinted at a sequel (ugh) but the quick and distinct references to other games (even if i personally do not enjoy the newer games, i still found it funny). if you enjoyed the film, that's cool and that's all you, as for me well, you've an idea how i feel as a random youtube profile. :}
This game is a direct sequel to the first one, so having played Silent Hill 1 helps to understand the plot, while Silent Hill 2 have no connection to this one whatsoever but is considered by many (including me) the best game in the series, so I personally would recommend playing one of those first. But this game is very much worth it too.
Amazing game. Everyone says 2 is the best, but I think it's a tough call. James was so stiff and awkward while Heather is just so much more... human, which is a huge deal because you experience the game through the character. Poor Heather, she went through so much shit...just makes you want to give her a hug and tell her everything will be O.K.
I would love to see a HD version of this on the PS3. The graphics on this game in HD would look better than some of PS3 games now, it goes to show how team silent and konami really showed the potential of the PS2

The European box art of SH3 is the best one. Even better than both the Japanese and NA versions. The EU cover has this Stylish very Terrifying Horrorific Nightmarish Hell feel to it that makes the Horror of the game itself speaks out even though you haven't opened the case yet and or even tried to play it. NA looks meh, it's very boring, and it doesn't tell you much about how terrific this game is, definitely not my favorite. Luckily I have the EU version, and it plays perfectly on my ps2 console which can even play all the 3 different versions as well! :)
The best one in the series was number 2. The rest of em never really hit the same height in craftsmanship with storytelling, atmosphere, and environment.
This was the first silent hill game I ever played, I was probably ten years old, and I went to my aunt's house, my aunt is a big fan of the series, and she had just gotten her hands on SH3, and she decided to let me play a bit, and I was disturbed as fuck, it wasn't till I was 14 that I decided to play the whole series, starting with the first which I downloaded from PSN, Ii wanna get the HD collection so I can properly play SH3

Ahh, the last good silent hill, before it got stupid -well 4 was ok... but after that.....
Still the one of the best games i've ever played
and i will add, that the only part that tickled my jaded self-was at the very end. not the fact that they hinted at a sequel (ugh) but the quick and distinct references to other games (even if i personally do not enjoy the newer games, i still found it funny). if you enjoyed the film, that's cool and that's all you, as for me well, you've an idea how i feel as a random youtube profile. :}

I'm not sure about how many copies were sold, but SH2 had a directors cut where you get an extra full story to play as well as the normal story of SH2

This game is a direct sequel to the first one, so having played Silent Hill 1 helps to understand the plot, while Silent Hill 2 have no connection to this one whatsoever but is considered by many (including me) the best game in the series, so I personally would recommend playing one of those first.
But this game is very much worth it too.
Amazing game. Everyone says 2 is the best, but I think it's a tough call. James was so stiff and awkward while Heather is just so much more... human, which is a huge deal because you experience the game through the character.
Poor Heather, she went through so much shit...just makes you want to give her a hug and tell her everything will be O.K.

I would love to see a HD version of this on the PS3. The graphics on this game in HD would look better than some of PS3 games now, it goes to show how team silent and konami really showed the potential of the PS2

The European box art of SH3 is the best one. Even better than both the Japanese and NA versions. The EU cover has this Stylish very Terrifying Horrorific Nightmarish Hell feel to it that makes the Horror of the game itself speaks out even though you haven't opened the case yet and or even tried to play it. NA looks meh, it's very boring, and it doesn't tell you much about how terrific this game is, definitely not my favorite. Luckily I have the EU version, and it plays perfectly on my ps2 console which can even play all the 3 different versions as well! :)
The best one in the series was number 2. The rest of em never really hit the same height in craftsmanship with storytelling, atmosphere, and environment.

This was the first silent hill game I ever played, I was probably ten years old, and I went to my aunt's house, my aunt is a big fan of the series, and she had just gotten her hands on SH3, and she decided to let me play a bit, and I was disturbed as fuck, it wasn't till I was 14 that I decided to play the whole series, starting with the first which I downloaded from PSN, Ii wanna get the HD collection so I can properly play SH3
My favourite of all, this scared the hell out of me every time x3 The slurper was probably the most scariest of silent hill monster In my opinion, just the way it moved *shivers* And the noises >

Well, it's probably a defective copy then. A disc being legitimate doesn't mean there can't have been slight hiccups when the game was being burned onto it at the publisher's.
