Absolutely great, he was the idol of my violin childhood. I had many records of Suk and finally he gave a concert in my hometown: I remember precisely his sound and vibrato till today, one of the greatest violin players ever 🙏🎻
My brother and I were not allowed to attend "grown-up" concerts until we were 10 years old. I was four years older than my brother. My very first grown-up concert sitting with my parents was all Chopin played by Rudolf Firkušný in the fall of 1952. I never got to hear Suk, though I went to many concerts, became a professional musician, and a classical music reviewer for the Newark (NJ) Star-Ledger. In fact, I never again heard Firkušný after that Chopin recital. I heard many of the greats (and not so greats) over the years, but never again Firkušný, or ever Suk - two top of the line musicians. These Dvořák works I heard several times over the years. This performance is exemplary!
Wow indeed. Gives him a unique authority in this music. His record of the Dvorak violin concerto is quite something, used to love it as a kid. His grandfather, also Josef Suk, was an excellent composer - for example the 4 pieces op 17 he wrote for violin and piano which are available on YT with Josef Suk performing, or the version with Ginette Neveu.
He is Dvořak´s great grandson. I am extremely proud of my famous grandfather. His great music accompanied me on all world concert stages. He was a brilliant composer, besides Mozart, the greatest. -Josef Suk junior
I was 13 when I performed this work. Each of the pieces calls for different technique and interpretation and that makes it so engaging and fun. I still play them for warm up, still remember them ... Nice video, Suk is so cool!
The investigation by violin which you play gives deep impression and amusement in my heart . Your talent has power which can dissolve the pain and sorrow . Exquisite performance ! Greetings from Japan .
The postures : face and body , the way holding the violin of Josef Suk are very good looking. I like Antonio Dvorak music very romantic and peaceful . I also respect Josef Suk.
Compare 1st mvt tempo, with Suk 1956 recording with Hála available here - how much more patience, volatile flexibility to the flaky weaker beats in that earlier recording
it is Mila not Gueorgui...and I played violin for 42 years now...and i love this guys...the words are not enough to tell the profoundness in there performance, again great musicians !!!

Suk wrote also his own violin concert. I just heard at a ytube vid of Julia Fischer, playing him on her Decca CD.

Wow... Dvorak's great grandson playing Dvorak...

Josef Suk, one of the greats among the violinists. Wonderful.

Oh my!!! Seeing this video is amazing! Thanks for sharing!
I get a sense he is feeling out the place. And doing basic songs. I appreciate his seriousness and care.
Kdo nehrál není houslistou... Dvě legendy...
It couldn't be better than this great duo for Dvorak.
a classic(al) dynamic duo
He is Dvořak´s great grandson. I am extremely proud of my famous grandfather. His great music accompanied me on all world concert stages. He was a brilliant composer, besides Mozart, the greatest. -Josef Suk junior
Elegia is so powerful. The violin speaks from the soul
Dvě legendy se potkaly. Nádherné koncerty v 90. letech. RIP.

sad he passed D:
Aaww. when? So sad .... what a great violinist!
this is such a beautiful performance

Exquisite performance !
Greetings from Japan .
Magnifique ! 🎩
Wow -- fantastic interpretation. Shimmering beauty.
The postures : face and body , the way holding the violin of Josef Suk are very good looking. I like Antonio Dvorak music very romantic and peaceful . I also respect Josef Suk.
I love the way he plays these pieces as I don't like this piece in general but he makes them come alive
These are little gems. If you don't like them, that's your problem, doesn't speak in your favor.
Nádherné skladby,nádherná hra - amazing ♫♪♥
Wonderful!!!I
He is world Heritage!
great violinist!!!
I remember to have played the pieces a longtime ago, so differently than he did, but I also like this one.
You *also* like this one?!? My god, you are speaking of one of the great violinists of the 20th century. Why do you think you can compare to him?
magnifique !
Wonderful!
sounds like he was telling storys from his great grandfather Dvorak😊
Suk wrote also his own violin concert. I just heard at a ytube vid of Julia Fischer, playing him on her Decca CD.
That was the grandad of the violinist, his name is also Josef Suk (he was son in law of Dvorak, he married the daughter of Dvorak, Otylie)
very nice
Heaven!
I agree!
❤❤❤
RIP. :(
This is a romantic piece he plays very strong
??? Thats PASSION what you are talking bout
I need to play this for AT next week. He plays better than me for a hundred percent
I haven't played the last movement for a long time, so I'm scared.
I am going to play this for AT too! ☺️
Me too and I am 12
Some of my friends play this song for AT too in HK
This is wonderful playing, but the Elegia was Prihoda's piece! Nobody comes anywhere close to the melancholy of his expression in No.4
Compare 1st mvt tempo, with Suk 1956 recording with Hála available here - how much more patience, volatile flexibility to the flaky weaker beats in that earlier recording
Reminiscent of Schindler's list😢
Cool
How is the second mov. Romantic?
because romance doesn't just come in one flavour, that romance is of passion and fire
👍♥️
I don't like the way he plays this piece
I agree. For me it lacks nuance, soul.
I feel sorry for you.
it is Mila not Gueorgui...and I played violin for 42 years now...and i love this guys...the words are not enough to tell the profoundness in there performance, again great musicians !!!
Gueorgui Kornazov Mila :)
And we don’t have too many of artists of this caliber ! Bravi !!
Try version Kyung Wha Chung for the first one.....
