So glad I found this video. Was so happy with Volkswagen to discover that if that damn clip falls out of the high beam lamp that I had to remove the bumper and headlight assembly. Pretty sure I spent almost 45 minutes beforehand trying to figure out how to do it wiggling my phone in all sort of ways to get that back in. No dice. Thanks so much for this.

Just did mine today, a 2009 jetta all i took of was the grill ,and the inserts, on the front . Simple enough. three screws each light .

Thanks for the instructions! My 2007 jetta randomly seem to alternate between T20 and T25 screws in many places, and I had no T30 screws. I will add that it of course took more elbow grease than the video had me anticipating with all the uncomfortable positions and awkward angles to get it done. I wish I had known to turn my tires to get at some of the screws more easily, next time! All in all, under threes hours of work, including running out to buy a T20!

I will drive with a faded lenses. Just to take a light assembly you need to drop the transmission and maybe add blinker fluid to the new assembly 😳

VERY informative video!! Thank you. I did have a question. I and a repair shop do a restoration on my right headlight but the fogginess came back. What’s to say if I were to order a whole new headlight..it wouldn’t turn yellow and foggy again? 😩
Fantastic video! Probably the most straightforward process for any DIY repair I've ever investigated for my VW. Unfortunately I encountered a subsequent issue and am hoping someone out there can offer some guidance... I was using this tutorial to swap the passenger & driver side lights to test the passenger light which intermittently goes out (lamps & igniter already replaced). After getting both lights re-connected on opposite sides, the original passenger light with the issue didn't turn on at all when installed on the driver's side. I swapped them back to their original location with the plan to get replacement assemblies, but when I turned the lights back on, however, the driver's side still didn't come on with the original assembly either. I plugged and removed both lights multiple times on the driver's side, and nothing... What could cause the wiring harness to suddenly not power the lights??

Inside the rubber cap light area, there’s also that super small light (inside the smaller circle/closer to middle of car headlight)... how do you get that one out?
thats the day time running light bulb
the socket is friction fit, just pull it. its the parking light.

Thank you for the video I do have a question I have a 2006 Vw Jetta the recirculating button will only blink once when you push it but will not stay on any ideas
He did NOT show how to change ALL the bulbs he left out the little 194 bulb that is right next to the high beam bulb he completely over looked it

Hello I noticed on this type of Volkswagen jetta you need a led load resistor do you need it for each one or just one of them on each side

Apparently my retainer clips are missing and there is baling wire in its place. Any idea where to find these retainer clips? Parts stores don’t have them.

Wow....looks like I have to remove the headlight assembly to change the small bulb next to the high beam bulb, which you didn't show how to remove sadly..... A ton of work to replace a $0.50 part
I’m needing to change out that little adjacent bulb as well, lol it’s a bummer that it’s more complex to replace
Where'd you get bulbs for 50 cents? I paid 16$ for mine and thats the cheapo one.
Just uncap it and twist it off
I bought the headlight assembly pair on eBay for $130 and it included the right and left H7 halogen low beam high beams plus turn signal and side markers bulbs!
At the VW stealership $700 for headlight assembly pair plus $100 for H7 bulbs plus $40 for turn signal bulbs. Screw the dealer

What is the name of the light bulb at 3:00? It blew in my car and I'm not sure what the light is called to order a replacement. I thought it was the 'turn signal light mini bulb' but it doesn't exactly look like a mini bulb in the video

So much work these euros cars have us do just to replace a headlight lol
I find it just unbelievable...that anyone...would design a vehicle...such that one has to remove the entire damn bumper to replace a headlight.
What size bulb are the low beam lights
It would be helpful to me if you changed the bulb while that large piece was still attached to the car. I can't dismantle the whole thing.
with 1500 and 2000 grit and a polisher you could've turned those old headlights into brand new ones. But of course, better to buy brand new ones from 1A Auto.

How do you disconnect the harness? Zoom in the process
had to take my car to a mechanic to change the low beam bulb....I have a 2007 Jetta FSI and couldn't find any videos with my car's light configuration...it had like a ballast to remove first with no bulb attached....the design is so bad....not a car to own if you want to do your own repairs

There’s actually a way to remove the head lights without removing the bumper
Why did you remove the whole bumper to replace the headlights instead of just removing the grill covers
Its German, in others words,they want you to go to a dealership and spend a ton of money. That's how the are building all of vehicles nowadays.
I did the driver side with no problem, but mine don't have the grey curved twist removers, the passenger side won't come out.
