  • @maaike5569
    @maaike5569 4 года назад +32

    this recipe comes from the Yao women. they ferment the rice milk for weeks to months before they use it. so it should be ok to keep it longer than 2 weeks as long as you close the lid after you use it.
    the bad smell is a natural part of the fermentation process so nothing to worry about 😊 you can add some lavender oil and/or orange/grapefruit peels
    just keep in mind that the longer you ferment the rice water, the stronger it gets. so if you hair is sensitive to this, dilute it with some extra water.
    good luck to all you curlies!

    Angiebee, your hair is so beautiful and healthy! I use lemon, orange and grapefruit peels in my rice water for the vitamin C, other antioxidants and nutrients that are found in the white part of the peels. I also add fresh, organic peppermint, rosemary and sage leaves along with Now lemon, tangerine and tea tree essentials oils. The fruit peels, herbal leaves, and essential oils give my rice water a very pleasant smell. The herbal leaves and essential oils increase blood circulation in my scalp, and will leave my scalp tingling. I also add natural oils to my rice water such as EVOO, argon, almond, avocado and wheatgerm oils. These oils lubricate the scalp and hair and combat dryness. Sometimes, to add extra moisture and more nutrients, I will add fresh, organic, pre-strained aloe vera gel (from the plant). I have used white and brown rice water with excellent results. I plan to use black rice water in the future, which is even richer in nutrients that promote a healthy scalp and hair growth.
    First, I use 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons of my rice water in my shampoo every three weeks. Secondly, I use it sparingly (about 1/2 teaspoon) on my hair after shampooing. Then I apply a moisturizing deep conditioner on top of the rice water application. I wrap my hair up in a damp, warm terrycloth head wrap followed by two plastic caps. I rinse it out of my hair after 10-15 minutes. Thirdly, I use rice water very sparingly as a leave-in treatment once a week, because I have protein sensitive hair. I "lightly" spray my rice water on my scalp and hair roots ONLY. Then I massage it into my scalp and preen (smooth) it down my hair shaft to my hair ends. I follow that up with a homemade rose water, argon, avocado, almond and vitamin E oils spritz. This will soften, lubricate and moisturize my scalp and hair. Because I have low porosity hair, I can't use leave-in moisturizing cream products. They give me product buildup, which can lead to knots and badly tangled hair.
    I've been doing this for almost nine months WITHOUT no harmful side effects, scalp rashes, burns, hair breakage, protein overload, or damaged hair roots and ends. My hair has grown and flourished wonderfully from using rice water. I love how it softens, strengthens and thickens my hair, especially my hair roots! My hair has stopped shedding profusely. Yaaaay! I make a small batch of rice water and preserve it by adding vitamin E and wheatgerm oils. I keep it refrigerated up to a month, and it has never spoiled.

    I agree with all you've said except the orange part. Orange peels is what the Yao women, the original users of rice milk/water, used to control the smell of the rice water. Contrary to what you said the orange citrus would do it has helped me with scalp itch control. With peppermint, the mild orange citrus also treats dandruff on the scalp. I know because it has worked for me.
    Back to the Yao women, their hair is very long, in fact they are reputed to have the longest hair on the planet. The only smell control they use is orange peels.
    Orange peel citrus does not kill or adversely affect your hair follicles.

    My hair absolutely loves rice water!!! I’ve been using it consistently now for almost 9 months. It’s been a major game changer in the overall health of my hair. My hair is the healthiest it’s ever been. My hair is soft, manageable, no breakage, minimal shedding, shiny, strong, growing in thicker and fuller, and growing like a weed. I use it in various ways: as a leave in mixed with my diy herbal tea moisturizing/strengthening spray, as the liquid in my LOC/LCO/LO method, the liquid in my diy treatment concoctions, and sometimes as a prepoo mixed with onion juice. My hair is multi porous and benefits from a well balanced moisture/protein regimen, which rice water seems provide. I started incorporating it slowly into my regimen in order to evaluate its affects on my hair. I also started off using white rice and gradually switch to wild rice and finally to black rice. Black rice is absolutely amazing! It contains more nutrients, leaves my hair feeling light and soft, and has a mild fermented scent. I do advice those with low porosity to use rice water with caution. Remember, it contains protein, and low porosity doesn’t need as much protein, that’s why those individuals tend to have negative reactions to it. Rice water will always be a part of my hair regimen. My hair is flourishing because of it.🌺💚

  • @sihamal8061

    I won't recommend leaving the rice water in the hair as a leave in conditioner. Even the Chinese women who came up with this, they wash their hair after applying the rice water, they know better so I'll recommend to do the same. I used to leave rice water in my hair and it made my hair longer faster but, after almost a year it started to do the opposite and it really ruined my hair. I had to do a big chop again because my hair was really damaged and so hard to deal with. It hurt me to loss all that hair after working hard to make it long, I hope no one have to go throw this too, so wash it out

      Green Beauty says rice water is protein and using it so often will tend to make the hair dry and brittle. The best way she says is to rinse out the rice water and use a deep conditioner after. This way you benefit from the rice water and retain moisture from the deep condition.

    The truth is that hair grows from the scalp! If rice-water is going to work, it's because you place it on your scalp! The oil in the citrus will close the hair cuticle so that it lays flat. This will elongate the hair shaft making it appear longer. The average hair grows 1/2 inch per month. Should you experience more growth than that, then it's because you are massaging your scalp more. I hope this helps. P.S. It doesn't matter what type of hair you have, any extra attention you give to your hair (extra brushing, etc.) will increase its growth.

    Hi. Thanks for showing "how to make rice water and how it should look". You are the only person that emphasizes that it should look completely white when it's done. Also thanks for other tips concerning doing rice water. I want to know if rice water can stop thinking hair. I stay in protective styles quite a bit an since the Stay at home order was in place it forced me to go natural. This is when I noticed my hair thinning on top. Any advice for how to combat it besides rice water or could it be the answer to my problem? Thanks in advance for your reply.

      I put it in a water bottle mixed with water and saturate my scalp before I wash my hair, massage it in for a while then wash your hair, I also mix it into my deep conditioner. You can use it after as well, but it has a smell. it’s not oily, it’s a scalp stimulant. It with clean your hair better than any shampoo, you can actually see the hair follicle at the root because it cleanses your pores so good.

    • @ANGIEBEE
      @ANGIEBEE  2 года назад

      Blending it would make it difficult to separate the rice from the water. it would become like a cream which has no additional benefits because even blended, the rice particles are too large to be absorbed by the hair. it would also leave white particles in the hair.
