So to put that 2100 yards thing into perspective. A full mile is 1,760 yards away. That means that he shot almost 409 yards past that. The spin of the Earth comes into play at that point, heat, humidity, bullet flight time, ballistics…all of it.

Have seen the movie multiple times still heartbreaking to know he survived two tours just to be killed by a fellow soldier he tried to help. His poor family especially wife and kids. What a good man he was.

Clint Eastwood’s version of “American Sniper” was a Hollywood production. The screenplay by Jason Hall mixed half truths with fiction. The scene where the “Hollywood Chris Kyle” looks through his scope at the young boy and says, “Don’t pick it up” was fictional.
It was not Clint Eastwood’s or Warner Brothers’ intent to make a film that was historically accurate. It was their job to make a film that would sell a lot of movie tickets. The “Hollywood Chris Kyle” played by Bradley Cooper needed to be “sanitized’ for the big screen. There was no mention of Chris Kyle’s web of fabricated stories.
There are people who thought the “Rambo” and “Top Gun” films were real…. as well as James Cameron’s “Titanic”. Some people can’t distinguish Hollywood productions from reality.
It’s definitely weird to hear the phrase “I have more kills than him” being said on a talk show when they’re talking about real life

@@dandybrian ill just say that society isn't veteran friendly, most civilians see us as threats. I'm not going to sit here and argue with either one of you. I dont know the specifics, he was on Conan for what he did, we are 3 schmucks haggling over it. More often than not civilians want us labelled as damaged goods and will do whatever they can to discredit us. Rather than argue, I'll simply stand back knowing that I fought for basically nothing. My knowledge on the subject is limited, ive done what I can to forget the war. But I will celebrate those that gave a little extra.
Two amazing people, for very different reasons. Such a great interview.
Chris Kyle was the “Stephen Glass” of the military. He told fabricated story after fabricated story and passed them all off as fact, when they were works of fiction. Mr. Kyle was especially able to fool people who thought that his story telling was exempt from any type of fact-checking, simply because he was a Navy SEAL.
Mr. Kyle’s medal count claim that he wrote in his book was discredited by the United States Department of Navy in 2016. Both the Navy Times and The Intercept reported that Mr. Kyle was warned by Navy personnel that the medal count in his manuscript was wrong and that he needed to correct it before publishing. Mr. Kyle obviously did not do that.
Mr. Kyle also claimed that he shot and killed 30 looters from atop the Superdome in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Those claims were discredited by both the United States Special Operations Command and Army Lieutenant General Russell Honore. Honore, who ran the ground troops in the Katrina aftermath, described Mr. Kyle’s story as “war story bullshit”.
In a 2012 interview with D Magazine, Mr. Kyle claimed that he shot and killed two would be car jackers at a gas station outside of Dallas TX. Kyle claimed the police were on the scene....and that the entire incident was caught on security camera tape.
When the story went through a fact-check, all of the documentation that would have existed if the story had been true, was non-existent: There were no police reports, no coroner’s report, no coroner’s inquest, no record from any district attorney’s office in Texas, no surveillance camera tape....and absolutely no newspaper coverage of this ever taking place.

Best guys I've ever met. He helped me get through my ptsd. Between him and my kids I was able to come back. When i first heard of his death it almost broke me but I know he wouldn't like that.
