    I am a german and I am watching an american host with an american show who has been in germany to be a guest in a german talk show who is talking english but dubbed for germans to german dubbed back to english for the original show so I have to translate all for myself into german. What an inception.

    It's a secret German challenge: Stop laughing and pretent to be humourless when an American or Englisman is around. Once they are gone Germans burst out in laughter.

    • @DivinesLegacy
      @DivinesLegacy 3 года назад +49

      @Peter Evans people always say this lol, but I can debunk this easily, German Americans are the same height as Germans in Germany. The reason the stats show the average German is taller than the average American is because the United States is much more diverse in terms of ethnic groups. For example the average Latino is around 5”7 and The US has around 50 million Latinos along with 20,000,000 Asians. and Asians and Latinos are known for being short. So what that does is bring the average height down. But if you were to compare German Americans and Germans there would be little to no difference in terms of height. For example the average height in Alabama is 5”11 for men where it’s really white. Compared to Germany where it’s only 5”10 for men.

    Harald Schmidt himself admitted serveral times that his show was a german copy of the Letterman show. His TV buddy Herbert Feuerstein with whom he had a show with which was his TV breakthrough showed him a tapes of the Letterman show and encouraged him that he could do a brilliant german version of it. Sadly, Feuerstein died this year and Harald Schmidt enjoys his TV pension since his show went off air in 2014 because TV audience was declining steadily and Schmidt probably was past his prime. However he did a brilliant job with his own show and still remains to be the most original and witty person in the german TV landscape.
