    He fell on the sword for us. He will always be up there with woody and Paul brown to me. From day 1 on the job he knew the mission and he accomplished it. He needs to be appreciated more. Ohio legend

    • @ZEBiggs
      @ZEBiggs 2 года назад +15

      Agreed! I wasn't alive when Woody roamed the sidelines, but I appreciate the legacy he left. Tress is my barometer of what an OSU coach should strive to be. The circumstances that made him leave were ridiculous then and wouldn't even be an issue today. I really believe he deserves his name on buildings.

    Love him and respect him immensely. OSU administration had a tendency to fire football coaches in the worst way. Bruce and Tress did not deserve that kind of humiliation. I appreciate what they did and what they gave to the players, football program, tOSU, and Buckeye Nation! I bought season tickets for myself and my wife in 1979. Yes that was the first year of Bruce who almost won us a NC! We will win another NC this time! Go Bucks!

    Thanks for sharing this, Bobby! I've had the pleasure of being one of "Coach Tress's " students, in his very packed classes, and can remember it being like an Army "First Formation" -- You woke up and attended neat and presentable, and bright and early! It amazes me, how vividly Jim's memory is. As you remember Bobby, at Ohio State, in the auditoriums and briefing rooms, we kept a mantra: If the prof (or TA) doesn't remember you, you're doing good, right? That man remembers each and every detail, of just about everyone he sees daily ! And he (along with the who's who of Ohio State coaching lore -- they all added to that class), gave some compelling stories, and added to each and every comprehensive week!
    Something that those, who never had taken Coach Tressel's classes probably never knew: he had coaching staff (which included the likes of Mark "Dino" D'Antonio, Luke Fickell, Tim Beckman, PJ Fleck, Jon Heacock, Darrell Hazell, Head Coach (Emeritus) John Cooper and of course, my favorite (whom I knew since childhood), the late, great Head Coach (Emeritus) Earle Bruce (the latter two, having shared an office at The WHAC), offering insight, analysis of position breakdown, and at times, some great perspective to the history and lore of Buckeye Football. If you paid attention in Coach Tressel's classroom, you got more than just "The Principles of Football Coaching", as you got EVERYTHING, INCLUDING THE KITCHEN SINK. And you couldn't just sit there and take it like a lecture. YOU HAD TO WORK IN YOUR STUDIES, AND SHOW EFFORT, because Coach Tressel is one of those guys that would read everything you submit.
    Oh... And definitely DON'T BE LATE TO CLASS, BY EVEN A SECOND!
    Okay, I'm rambling. Great coach. Great President (one that I wished would have been ours), and definitely a great man that should have a Buckeye Street named after him, right by Woody Hayes Drive.
    TO JIM AND ELLEN TRESSEL: THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING. GO BUCKS!

    Tressel is an absolute legend.
    He took OSU to another level!
    Urban excelled obviously ( but Tress had them as a top 5 team year in and year out towards the end of his coaching timeline )
    He absolutely DOMINATED Michigan
    Look at the scores of the games - it was a blowout win every year those last 5 or 6 years.

    Wasn’t expecting to watch the entire clip. Wow. So thankful as a Buckeye fan,born mid 80’s, to grow up with three consecutive legendary Head Coaches. It’s only a matter of time now before Coach Day and his elite peers take down a title. The addition of Coach Knowles has created great opportunities. It’s good to see tOSU maintaining the brotherhood. Hope to see Coach Meyer around too. Urban Meyer made a lot of enemies over the years being victorious. Meyer clearly has received unfair treatment by the press. Buckeye Nation knows Coach Meyer is the man.

    Last I checked, tattoos do not enhance an athlete’s performance. The ridiculous manner in which the media created a complete circus in covering his untimely exit imho helped facilitate this era of NIL deals for student athletes. I hope he can be involved with the program more upon his retirement from YSU.
